I got it. I believe you are under the common misconception that the dog's name is Roverandom, as that is the title of the book. However, the dog's name is Rover.

I suppose it is a possibility that Rover was renamed Roverandom at some later point in the book, perhaps by the Man in the Moon or someone else. I don't remember, but I'm quite sure his name remained Rover throughout the whole book. Either way, his name (or one of his names) is Rover.
