That is not what I wanted to hear but thanks for the info :)

So, one thing I noticed:
My "successor" was no longer a successor. She had to rename to a -1, but I don't think that would be the cause. Is that by design or an oversight? Doesn't matter much, I clicked the successor button, and it was done, was just curious.
My transfer is in progress... My character's name still shows up in friend-list of other players on home server, even if removed and manually re-added. Would it be a safe indication to assume that transfer is complete when my character's name vanishes from the list? (Even if no email from Turbine arrives, emails get eaten sometimes...)
Friends lists are a very poor indication as their update frequency is far and in between and is rather unreliable. If you remove the toon from friends list on Riddermark and try to add again you might not be able to. The same would be true for your friends list on the other side.
I got email by the way, so that does work. The quickest indication that your transfer has worked and has finished..... is that you are no longer "banned" on the forums. :)
Things I have noticed so far:
- Successors become officers again, you have to make them successor again.
- The names of the tabs in Shared Inventory disappear. The tabs DO come over, and the right stuff is still in the right chest, but the names of the tabs disappear.
- Kinlist will show "Name" until a character actually logs in. They will then become "Name-1".
- Stackable items that SHOULD stack, do not stack when shared items are combined between the closing server and the target server.
None of which are big ticket issues at all, I just noticed them :)

Transfer successfully completed for me, after about 20 minutes :)
*Previously posted to Laurelin Server threads - putting here also for consideration, apologies if placed inappropriately*
I think that the vast majority of the player base see the server re-organisations in a positive light. The moves that Turbine are taking reflect an awareness of some of the problems LOTRO faces and I would hope that increased population on the remaining servers, along with new instances and the approach to Minas Tirith/Mordor will breathe new life into the game.
However, with regards to Laurelin server, it seems that a number of players that are transferring in are unaware of the RP rules that most of the server populaton have traditionally lived by. Whilst resisting the urge to reel off a few anecdotes, I think it's obvious that there has been some friction with the newcomers showing up with names and attitudes that, whilst perfectly legitimate for other servers, are not appropriate for Laurelin.
We all want the server to be friendly, welcoming, and populated. So, would it not make sense for Turbine to place a prominent flag or notification on the Launcher/Transfer facility basically stating - 'Laurelin is an RP-EN server: you should familiarise yourself with what this means by clicking *here*' and then putting a checkbox or something at the end of the notice ? It would go some way towards reducing confusion and the inevitable disagreement that results. It may also allow Laurelin to attract a few more dedicated RPers than it might otherwise.
Obviously the game caters for all types of players, and Laurelin's raiding community seems to be growing again (which can only be a good thing) - the server seems busier now than this time last year. But I think it should also strive to retain the RP approach that has always defined it.
I would welcome feedback on this (both agreement and the inevitable disagreement :)
Good to hear it is an isolated incident. :) I know a lot of people are as excited about transferring as I am, so hopefully the rest will go without a hitch.
Thanks for answering!
Just finished transferring my characters. Did my leader and shared items first, and then the other 11 next. Both transfers took only a matter of minutes. :)
"Fat finger"... LOL - I was one of the ones who clicked submit and then the error occured. That 1st transfer took 3 hrs and 15 minutes, and I was sweating the whole time, but it came through fine. Then it only took 1 hour to move all the rest with no hitches and 100% success on names.
You guys (Turbine) are doing a splendid job...fat fingers and all!
Many thanks!
Riddermark will be missed, but I love seeing activity and nice chat in World in my new home :)
Just wanted to say, I had an incredibly smooth transfer. About 1 minute between hitting the transfer button to getting the confirmation email.
Greatly appreciated, Turbine folks!
I'm a returning player and I'm having a really hard time to understand what's going on. I tried to transfer my characters last night, but only option the wizard gave me was Gilrain - my characters are on Snowbourn. Someone on Reddit told me that I can't transfer Snowbourn characters yet, so why is this not mentioned anywhere and when can I transfer my characters?
Welcome back! Loun, please read this thread https://www.lotro.com/forums/showthr...igration-Guide. It should help you get caught up.
This happened for everybody in my kin who transferred on day one Maartena. I picked out a new house, went in and found my storage there at 298/90! The kin leader had even more to sort through, all of it jumbled in together in one place. Not a complaint as such, nothing was missing - but that's where all the stuff went. I expect (hope?) you long since found it all, so consider this post General Information for those yet to transfer.
I was delighted to discover the transfer process was fast, easy and simple, hearty compliments to the team who helped make it so. I will miss Gilrain, I found it such a friendly server - but Unity is settling in to Laurelin with a determination to make this move work for us. I confess, I rather enjoyed a bit of Bree RPing, it's the sort of stuff I did for fun anyway. You usually had someone asking you why you bothered to WALK through town and sometimes you got company..... ;)
EDIT: Forgot to say, I want to extend thanks to Aedelric2 for that transfer guide, it was immensely useful.
Yup! I forgot to update my post, but all of my stuff was in my house chests when I bought my houses again, I spent quite some time re-decorating last night.
I have not found any problems with the transfer, and my kinship has 8 pages already. It was 20+ pages on Riddermark, but I expected that the last 10 pages (who had not logged on for 6+ months) wouldn't transfer over anyways, so all in all I am VERY happy with how things are going.
Also, I actually ended up getting most of my names. I have 3 toons out of 16 that got a -1 or -2 for which I need to find new names. I had only RESERVED 3 names up front, my main and two others I cared about, the rest I either couldn't or wouldn't let me, but with the transfers I was able to get most of my names.
The name "Sneekz" is a popular one for burgs. There was an inactive "Sneekz" on Arkenstone. I managed to "bump" that inactive one by making a "Sneekz" on Crickhollow (actually already had one from about a year ago), and move it to Arkenstone during the testing phase. So that inactive Sneekz became Sneekz-1. Then, a Sneekz moved in from Elendilmir which became Sneekz-2, and when I moved yesterday I became Sneekz-3, and this is only after TWO server allowed to transfer. :D Since I had Sneekz, I deleted that toon, renamed Sneekz-3 back to Sneekz, and now..... there is a "Sneekz" (me), "Sneekz-1" (inactive) and a "Sneekz-2" (elendilmir transfer). Next Sneekz to come in will AT LEAST get "Sneekz-2", as the inactive one will be there, but probably "Sneekz-3". :D
Case and point: As we move down the line with servers, expect to start seeing more -3 and -4 names. :D
Ugh, 440/220 things in my shared storage after transferring. xD I'm still trying to find space for everything!
Turbine, PLEASE, can we have more shared storage? Please, please, please?

Only if you pay for it...... *evil laugh* :D

So a naming conflict comes up for one of my alts and it becomes Name-1. I tried renaming it to something else, but the other name is taken up by some level 3 who hasn't logged in over a year, and the rename doesn't work.
Intentional? Do inactives get their names taken away only during the actual transferring-in, but not when the new-transfer toon uses a rename token already on new server?
That's correct. Transfers will boot out inactive players with the same name, but rename tokens will not. Though if your alt became Name-1, it seems it got renamed when you transferred it and the person you're conflicting with isn't actually inactive.
As I understand, he choosed a new name he wants to rename to. But this name is taken by the probably inactive L3 player.
One could try the following: create a new character with the new name on Eldar/Firefoot and transfer this character next week. See what happens. ;)
