World Transfers

I just transferred my Riddermark accounts to Crickhollow, and it literally took about 20 seconds to get my emails! (emails pleural since I had to move one kin leader/house owner first along with shared stuff, then the other characters individually, with one being sent on its own to Landroval to join others there) wow that was fast!!
Clearly I chose a very quiet time without much competition.

I did note that each time I moved someone, the option to move shared stuff was still present as a choice/ likely due to that 2 week delay discussed in the past... so I clicked it as well just in case there were some sort of left-overs in the system:)

A very clean and easy transfer today. All items accounted for. And as mentioned previously, I had to reassign the successor.

New, small twist in the friends lists / transfers / naming conflicts section.... Already KNOWN really, but if you transfer your whole lot of toons in, and you haven't logged them in just yet, no one can add them to friends list. Once you LOG IN the characters once, you can.

Why is that important? Well, when you check for the existence of names and such, you may get the "character cannot be added" message. This message is NOT just for those who created a level 1 and never logged on, you will also get that message if you a level 100 player transfers to a server, and then never logs in. Maybe because it is a rarely played alt, but the owner wants all his toons on one server, maybe he just hasn't gotten around to it....

But with 4 servers opened up for transfer, and 2 more coming next week. The "someone created a toon to get my name and didn't log in" isn't true anymore.... So don't get upset if you see a level 100 walking around with the name you really wanted 4 weeks from now thinking: How did he do that?? :D

Is it normal that nothing stacks when transferring shared storage? I have, for example, one new burgundy dye and 4 existing burgundy dyes in my storage and they just won't stack. Nothing does, may it be crafting materials, food, boost items or whatever else, it doesn't stack. I took Adamants out of storage and they didn't stack with the ones in my bag neither. Now I have a terrible overfilled shared storage with loads and loads of duplicates...
Is it a bug that will be fixed or is it just me and I have to live with it? Please let it be the first!!!

The dye has different ID numbers. For example, if one set of dye was made in game and the other was bought from the store they will not stack because their ID number is different. Hover over the dye and read the pop up window, there should be a difference between the two, for example one might say made by Dryfis while the other might say bound to SomePlayerName.

Thank you for the update. Might I suggest to put this in the client as well? Or a little more clearer in the transfer/copy section? I know that regardless of your forum announcement there are going to be a lot of people who will be confused. Perhaps putting the above in the logon client will help make things a little clearer for non-forum-user-players.

It would be helpful and less confusing if the Bullroarer client was the only client that presented the option to copy to Bullroarer since it is a separate, unique client. That would also go for the Palantir server if it also has its own client (I assume it does).

Ugh! The one thing that irritates me most about housing has struck again. I would very much like for bound housing items, when slotted into a hook, to show the name of the character to whom they are bound. I have several items which are stuck in my housing storage which are bound to "Unknown Player." My guess is they are bound to the only alt I sent to another server, which further begs the question of why weren't these items returned to their owners rather having everything from my personal and kinship houses dumped into my personal house's storage chest? I don't like that the personal and kinship items were mixed together. While mine is an alt kinship, I could see where that could cause significant issues for a kinship leader. It wouldn't be a huge issue, except that one of the items in particular is VERY hard to come by. It's worse because the item was previously kept in the kinship house's yard. I would expect this to not be an isolated issue. To ease my frustration, it'd be nice if those items were either account bound to be character bound on acquire, or at the very least if we could slot housing items directly from our housing storage. That would be VERY nice, as then kinship leaders\officers could rearrange items bound to other characters...and if you had the option of "return to storage" in addition to "return to owner," it would then at least go to a place where you can see to whom the item is bound.

Yeah, this is a bit of an issue, but I don't think they can change it. I advocated returning bound items to players BEFORE anyone could transfer off of a server. If you have a bound item in your house or kinhouse that belongs to a character that is no longer on the server, it cannot be returned to that player, and the item will completely disappear. The item would not be retrievable, although the owner of the item might be able to file a ticket for it.

If you HAVE bound items in your housing that are bound to other players, but that player either has not yet moved, or moved to a different server.... That is a problem. They will just take up space in your chest, and you can't take them out because you do not own that item. I am suspecting that the only thing you can do is to file a ticket to have those items removed.... OR keep the items in your chest until you have a chance to move that character on to your current server.

I had one item in my housing storage that was bound to an unknown player after I used the return to owner option on it. I think it had belonged to an alt that I ended up deleting. When I transferred, that item ended up in my housing escrow, and I was able to destroy it.

Guess I'll have to bite the bullet and download the LOTRO beta client to my new computer. Been putting it off and putting it off, dreading that long download...

I sure wish my LOTRO disks could be used to get most of the download out of the way...

Are transfers from Firefoot officially open? No info has been made on login screen sine Sept. 22. Only one other US/EU server has been officially notified. I would like to see more communication made here. So far the login screen had been were I thought all info was being posted and copies added to forums, wiki and facebook. Am I incorrect on this? Login screen seemed like the refrigerator in my house were all notes to everyone were posted for easy and quick notification. Thanks again for all your hard work. See you all on the other side of the transfer...

Yeah I am sure happy with my 300 Mbps internet connection, I think it took something like 20 minutes to download everything last time I downloaded the full thing. It's nice though, I have it installed and will test Update 17 later tonight. Already copied a few toons there.

Last time I downloaded LOTRO it took nearly 3 days, but the internet was acting poorly at the time. Usually games like these don't take that long. My average is 1 GB per hour, so depending on how big the game is, it could be between 12-24 hours or so. Recently downloaded ArcheAge overnight. We pay for 5 Mbps, but only get about 3 Mbps, which of course translates to only about 350 KBps. Very slow going, though sometime it does spike up to 400-500 KBps.

If I have disks (which I do for SWTOR and LOTRO) then it's great to be able to get the bulk out of the way. I merely brain farted with that last download of LOTRO. Coulda saved myself a lot of hassle if I'd remembered my disks.

I do have LOTRO beta on my laptop, but the whole reason I got a desktop is because my laptop really isn't strong enough to play satisfactorily. On the flip side, I do still have the beta download files in my Downloads folder of the laptop. It is slow, but I've almost finished transferring the data from that computer to my desktop. It's slow because of the wifi signal, so it's already been going for around 10-12 hours. About 80% complete (2.26 GB left to transfer). A few times my wifi has lost the signal and caused the transfer to error out (which slowed things down considerably), but hopefully it will be done by the time I get home from work. The installation itself should then only take a short while, and whatever patches I need to apply.

i just transferred my characters to Bullroarer. what does that mean for me? did i transfer them too soon?
because i got the Transfer Confirmed email ASAP.

I wasnt intending to transfer to an Alpha or Beta world... Should i have not transferred from Meneldor today?

Bullroarer and Palantir are test worlds. You cannot transfer there. You copy there. The email is akin to any other computer generated form letter. Your characters are still on their live homes.

"Fall" doesn't exist in the Southern hemisphere. In fact it doesn't exist outside of North America.

I have/had toons on 9 different servers. I would like consolidate that to 2 or 3 servers.

When I made the toon on Snowbourne it was an North American Server, It was changed to European server.
It is not impossible!!! But I guess it can only be changed one way and not the other, lol.

I made the toon on Vanyar to see what a European server was like.

I would like to move the stuff (Mithril Coins, Gold, Items in the vaults, etc...) on that server to an NA server, not so much the toons as I will already have multiple toons of the same on the new server(s).
