Always looking for a way to get more end game happening..a event calender would be good too, somethimg to signup with.

also if you could remove anon for when contacting a officer it will save a few mins of everyone's time just to make sure people have any needed traits ect slotted sending ten tells to remove anonymous is a pain in the bottom and easily avoided. same for when asking a invite to a raid for time saving reasons mainly.

What would be the difference between this channel and GlobalLFF? I thought that channel was supposed to fullfill this role.

No they cannot, loot will be rolled on by those people whose classes can and will use it, hunters will not get the opportunity to roll for Vit/Might gear ect.

But one question: Is items like worn symbols/still draigoch scales not allowed to be rolled on by normal members?

Only upon creation, so when a person is inside nothing you can do because the password can't be changed. Think about it as names of the channels allowed to have one space.

we will refresh the channel regularly to ensure any unwanteds are removed probs on a month by month basis

I'd add - this is about building a group of folks who raid together (regularly if the will to do so is there) from across the server and who would have an interest in helping each other to get geared up. No kin will get more out of it than any other, it's about helping each other out, killing more bosses more often and getting interesting loot as a fringe benefit for any and all who take part (with the proviso of not taking loot that's not for your class when someone else could use it, of course) ;) And personally, I look forward to not having to deal with the tedious globallff trolling that goes on. I already play alongside folks from several kins on Gilrain and have tons of fun doing so. I am looking forward to doing more of that - to my mind, this is potentially a win-win situation for anyone who's up for it.

you obviously have no interest in this as you have stated you have your own kin and raid group so why come here and spoil others opportunity to do the same, your opinions are neither lore nor law kindly leave this topic to those interested in it. you was of no use to me in Omerta and you are of no use to me here.

prime example on how gilran has changed due to an increase of new players such as some ^^posting in the old days gilrain was a very friendly server and everone helped others out and in recent years it has changed and ppl would rather try and troll and fail instead of helping and suporting, if u dont like the idea of this raid group then thats fine but u dont need to post here simple as:) if you are intrested in get in touch raid up and have some fun meet some new ppl and make new friends

I don't PvE on Gilrain but this channel does have the potential to be mis-used by its owners, excluding anyone who might be on the wrong side of the channel owners. This is potentially extremely dangerous as it's excluding parts of the community who might have not done anything wrong than to have a minor disagreement with a channel owner.

Seeing the responce to an honest question where someone mentioned that we already have a glff, where the person was called a troll and probably BANNED from the channel because the chan owner clearly doesn't like him, leads me to believe that this "potential" problem already exists. The channel should be governed by someone who has the ability to be objective and not vindictive. Are you that someone?

I hope for the good of gilrain that whoever starts such a channel is the right person, or I hope it fails, also for the good of gilrain.

for thoes old players who where luckyenough to be around back then some1 of u might of been a part of or hearded of spartan alaince was a group of ppl from differnt kins who just raided u ask somthing in global and it gets dusted of between all the trolling on it, this is an alternative option for kins who want to raid butjust cant quite manage it yet. its here to help and anyone who thinks trying to help ppl out is wrong well there it self is why gilrain is failing as a server in gernal as steve said its to bring some raiding life back into the genpop of the gilrain. if ur not intrested then thereis no need to post thats fine not everyone will wanna and its not for everyone but if u wanna get a bit more raiding in or have alot of alts and cant take them all raiding this is where this channel will shine it is not NOT! another GLFF its an aliance for raiding simple as

Velve, I don't know you but I do know others in EoA I get on with well (some used be in my kin and left us amicably). I don't care who 'started it' etc but can you take the high ground and please talk about what's proposed in this thread maybe? Same message to anyone else who feels like carrying on some kind of 'grudge match'.

As a woman gamer, I find point scoring/name calling is just really tedious, so could everyone please just get a sense of perspective and work out what you might want from this kind of proposal instead. Life's too damn short and this *is* just a game, after all!

It's been established what the groundrules will be and Velve, you've actually said you agree with them. Do you have any other positive contributions to make? I would be interested to hear them if you do.

In reply to posts from others about who's 'in charge' on this idea... There's more than one kin committed to the idea of doing this and making it work, like the old raid group that was around before my time. It's not a new idea, but perhaps it's time it was dusted off and given another go. It's not about any one person or kin, it wouldn't work if it were. But one person *has* been brave enough to suggest it and get the ball rolling.

By the way, I'm pleased that this is at least raising a bit of passionate natter on our server forum. It's all been about pvmp for ages... ;)

Again, a critical question is answered by calling someone troll and jumping in the trenches...

Instead of calling people troll, you might actually treat people with respect and counter their critical questions with good answers. You gave a good answer but there was no need for calling me a troll, saying you won't answer any critical questions anymore. That was my test and you failed, you went straight for the trenches with some namecalling whilst going down. Hosting such a chan is a responsibility and it should be hosted by someone mature, someone who can answer critical questions without calling people trolls.


I care because I kill freeps like you and in order to do that, I need a functioning Gilrain. :) Creep side is always inclusive(except for a certain raid leader who just left Fatality), raid leaders tolerate people they don't like(usually) and ppl are only excluded if they refuse to follow orders or are extremely annoying.

And I am critical because I see what can go wrong, people whom for some reason have ended on your wrong side might be excluded and I am no fan of excluding people for pety reasons, unless they ofc are complete a***s, which is not entirely rare. :)

Are you as tolerable as creep raid leaders, including those you don't like? :) Say me(even when you're annoyed with me now) if I ever started PvE'ing here? ^^ For the record, I PvE on another server, from time to time...

As someone who set up one of the many alliance channels years ago which got people together to do end game content and was fairly successful in doing so, I can understand why this formula has been repeated so many times and good luck to you with your venture. Indeed I've operated a nice channel creepside for cross tribe social groups and this has worked well.

However there are a couple of things that strike me reading through this:-

1. The whole basis of cold advertising on a forum is kind of dependent on your reputation, obviously if people have had experiences in pugs or kins and see adverts that contradict the reality they had, questioning it seems reasonable, I suppose the response to those who query it would show the kind of personalities involved and advertise what life would be like in this "controlled channel" and "raid leader decides situation". I mean if someone said I'd like to raid with the Uberkingschannel, but they exploit the raids and i like to do the content properly, simply stating that no exploits would be used would be better than yelling at them in public? Dunno, anyhows;

2. The other question is that this is like a mature game, there are like loads of people who don't have mains, in fact have like loads of toons none of which are really mains. They may or may not make people aware of their toons being the same person or not, so like u could spend time with two toons u have no idea are even the same person. So anyhows if people only get stuff for their mains, but like they need something on their captain, but you only ever want their burg, who has the cloak, is that fair? You say omerta gets no more than the other kins? but surely the purist simple way is like class dependent u just get to roll each with fair chance and state so publicly? Otherwise it just leaves a kind of vague lack of clarity about how this will work, :P I mean saying raid leaders decision is final.. well thats a pug, so as was asked, whats the differenece between this and GlobalLFF.

Anyhows thanks for writing your thread it was interesting to see all this out in public and Jure's Giff made it worth the read. More time being clear about your intentions in black and white might make this more attractive? Rather than just like hey guys, we are gonna raid, join the channel, obey or get booted, we decide the loot.

i think ur all reading into this far to much and a handfull of ppl (mainly why glff has failed has somthing to do with ppl like this) are messing it up!
if u want to raid and not getting as much raiding as u like kin finding it hard to raid up then here is the opertunity for gilrain as a server to pull together. if ur in the raid and somthing drops for ur class then yes all means roll but if it drops and u want it for an alt then it will go to ppl who are in the raid on that class at the time. all this other talk is not important over last few days we have had loads of ppl send us tells and are intrested in this. and if u realy dont care for it or think me or steve are the biggest ************ then thats fine just dont join just ignore it act ur age and stop trying to mesthings up that could be realy usefull to other kins and players

In my opinion the main difference would be getting to raid with same people, which I personally find important. One end up always with different people from GlobalLFF, and there we go every day through tactics and practice so to say. It is much easier (especially for those without experience) to go say in Orthanc couple of times with the same group until they get grip of it. Same is also I believe easier for the raid leaders instead of trying to teach different people every single day. This doesn't mean that there won't be new people (or inexperienced people), it just means that we want to start from somewhere and by time new people would join already solid and experienced groups.

Another difference from GlobalLFF is easier communication between us, not to mention avoid spamming global with our personal conversations.

No, our PUG Dragon was never like that. I even gave some scales away although I won them fairly on roll. And the same rules apply even for us Omerta officers, meaning we gear up first all our kin's main chars, hence my main char is geared up by now but my alts are still not. And that can be easily checked since we don't go anon around like some.

1. True but we all are just humans and some of us are fed up by negativity, lies, even infiltrations... One can not stay cool and reasonable 24/7, it's not even healthy. And let's face it, some are here just to undermine the idea.

2. If people can't decide what char they want to gear up first than they simply shouldn't join. We don't want greedy people. Plus this is not just about gearing up but is also about learning and having some fun and action.

As for the example you made (burg/cappy thing) all people that are currently in the group have couple of chars (classes) and with more people joining it is hard to imagine that we would need anyone to play just one class all the time.

Its true nobody is perfect, we are all human. It is however healthy to be cool and reasonable the vast majority of the time though. Anyhows my point was public perception and image is based on how people come across, so if someone is hostile to an idea in public its healthy to manage that in as reasonable a way as possible, thats handling public perception and being a bit statemanlike, but its no biggie, my comment was not to undermine your idea, rather comment somewhat neutrally on the way the thread had progressed.

Thats not what I said, putting aside if we are all human, then greed is a natural part of our nature lol;) Surely all team based content is about the ride and fun or folks would just join some random kin to gear up without thought for the social aspect or shortcut and exploit their way through content? All I inferred was that the more clarity was given, since it was a public advert, the less case people would have to undermine an idea.

The example I gave could be read that way, it could equally be that someone had been asked to bring a burg as you had been short one and that burg, as it was well geared was then considered the persons main, despite the fact they had joined to play with their captain, not only because it is less geared, but because its a toon they wish to currently play. For this person its not about the greed of not being able to decide which toon they want to gear first as such, more that they want play a particular toon for fun because they have played it less.

Anyhows, it doesn't really effect me directly, so good to hear you have folks engaged and its going well.

So you're saying that people like Wiley(who's not using GLFF) and myself(who doesn't PvE/freep on gilrain) are to blame? ^^ On the contrary, a chan like this should be hosted by such a person as Wiley, that would nullify all my fears of a worst case scenario. He is objective and would not hold grudges over personal matters.

Critical questions are seen as "undermining" the idea? :) If you can't take criticism, it usually means that the criticism is on the spot.


If you're promoting a channel like this and you're going to run it, you have to rise above criticism without putting your fangs out attacking the people who put forth the criticism. You have to be statemanlike, as Wiley so nicely put it. This was dealt with horribly and might have scared off many potential channel users.

Will you be doing the raids on specific weekdays or do you plan to organise when you feel like it?

Just wondering, I am interested in joining this channel/group, but if it overlaps with our kinevenings I won't pursue it any further.

Ok if it's no biggie (as you said) let's not talk about it further. It's also getting kinda way off the topic now. If people have need to discuss someones way of speaking and handling things, anger management and what not, best speak with that person directly in the game.

I do not think that greed is a natural part of our nature. But that's also off the topic to expend it further. More clarity was not given because we thought the idea is simple enough for everyone to grasp it. We asked of people to send a tell to our officers to discuss invitation and details if needed (read first post) so this was never meant to go into philosophizing.

As I said before, with the amount of alts we have no one will be forced to keep on plying one class only. Should that however happened, of course we will ask for particular class and it's up to you if you want to bring that class or not.

People this is all very simple and common sense so to say. It is crazy to speculate and create all possible scenarios. What will happened if I got strike with lightning bolt while riding on a horse in Shire thing. I just wanted to bring some apples to my old gaffer... lol :D

I think it's brilliant that someone is taking the initiative to bring people together and give those that don't have the opportunity to raid in their respective kins an extra, and more organized option, than the random GLFF shout now and then.

My only question is, will there be planned events outside the game (i.e making a new thread on the forums with upcoming events that one can sign up for, for example) or will there only be in game events at random times?

Sure we will have organized runs but I would say it's also inevitable to do some random things so to say. Not hard to imagine someone popping into channel, saying like hey guys, I'm bored, let's do something. So shortly I expect both :).

its simple 1. you join or 2 you dont join.. the rest inbetwin dosent matter..
