    Re: Crosser of Roads Walkthrough

I have created a new character specifically to run the chicken session quests from scratch and update the guide.

First thing I noticed...the possum impersonation still works as before. If you are moving, it will cancel aggro but not have a cooldown.

However, it did use power, so you can only hit it a few times before you have to wait for your power to return. I haven't played chicken session in a long time, so maybe this is how it worked before as well. I just feel that I was able to spam it non-stop last time I played.

I'm glad to see that so many players are still using the guides. Makes the effort to get them down into post form worth it. I think I need to run a few more of my characters through it to get the cloaks. My Hunter still proudly wears hers with the title.

The power use was there before. I know that on the Rivendell run, I had to stop a few times to let power regen.

    Re: Crosser of Roads Walkthrough

The quest seems to be broken currently. I just tried it twice. Both times I was standing on top of the chicken stones at Bag End and on the right side of the stairs at the Mathom House (GM-confirmed correct locations) and both times I did *not get the discovery deed. I confirmed with the GM as well that there are no prerequisites for it to work other than to be in the Free Range session play and to approach the stones, no specific order is required - you just need to walk up to the stones. GM told me to just submit a bug report and their QA team will follow up. Ya... they'll get on that "Real Soon Now".

I can confirm that the Possum-while-running thing still works, dropped aggro on a few wolves to test.

I tried to do Free Range several times a few days ago. I can confirm that you can not get either the traveler or explorer deeds. The GM closed my ticket without saying anything to me so I just bugged it. I doubt they will fix it anytime soon but will check out how it is on Bullroarer sometime later today if it lets me get on and stay on long enough.

On Bullroarer currently, Free Range seems to be working just fine. The moment you enter the session play you acquire all the deeds. I have only gone through the Shire and have been able to the the deeds. The only problem I have seen so far is that there is no message saying the Deed has been updated, you have found the stone, unless you check the deed log or put it on your tracker.

This is correct -- a group from our kin did this deed last night 5/7 succeeded too! (Sadly, Linwe-chicken was not one of the successes-- a stealthed doggie snacked on her....)

    Re: Crosser of Roads Walkthrough

Woot! Crosser of Roads on first try.... ONLY because of this unbelievably in depth and hepful guide! Thanks OP for the excellent detail!

I also used the /stuck command to get out of far off places - http://lorebook.lotro.com/wiki/Chicken_Session_Guide

Also, I did the Rivendell/Helegrod part first and had an escort meet me at Gloin's Camp (btw, it took 18 minutes to get there) - it is the only escort you need now, in my opinion. The Annunimas one is easily solable by climbing over the rooftops (see Brongdha's "reply" above for the youtube vid of it). And the Ost Forod one is easily soloable if you take the route also described above - there are no stealthed creatures (described by Phibbus above).

Given all that, the only part that really got me nervous was Weathertop - First, because it was so close to the end, and second, because the OP mentioned that there could be stealthed mobs there, and to stay to the road, yet I couldn't really tell where the "road" was. Anyways, I made it, so that's al that matters.

Thanks KidQuantum for this guide! However you figured it all out in the first place, I can only imagine.

    Re: Crosser of Roads Walkthrough

Thanks heaps to KidQuantum, KeskaRayburn, Phibbus and other contributors to this guide! I finally completed this quest on one of my characters - after about two weeks of trying (I found the guide at the end of the first week.) I think the reason I took so long was that I took some risks, and also didn't find it easy to concentrate for 4 hours straight, so I'd end up making stupid mistakes. I did learn a couple of things from my own experiments though ...

I took the route in a different order from anyone else, it seems, and with at least one short-cut. My route plan was based on doing Helegrod/Rivendell last, because my husband promised to escort me for that one bit if I completed the rest. I figured that farming Corcurs there was probably not that popular these days, given how much more content there is now, and with many people already at endgame. The first couple of times I scouted it out there was nobody. However by the time I finally got there with my husband, there were indeed people farming - so I suspect that the first wave of F2P newbies have probably reached 40, and now would be a good time for anyone following...

Here is the route I took:
    1. Mathom House stone
    2. Old Sally the pig
    3. The fox
    4. Fang, Wolf and Grip at Maggot's farm (Completed Shire Animals)
    5. Brandywine Bridge stone
    6. The cow in Buckland

From here I found it was not too hard to walk through the Old Forest and the Barrow Downs out the other side to Bree, thanks to the new map of the Old Forest. The route I took was
      1. Through Buckland into the Old Forest through the Old Forest Tunnel
      2. Along the path past the Bonfire Glade
      3. Turning right at the next one after the Bonfire Glade, down Muddyfoot Hill
      4. After passing Gillemin Brandybuck at the bottom of Muddyfoot Hill, following the left riverbank northwards hugging the west side up to Rollo Maggot at the Abandoned Cottage
      5. Crossing the river to the Broken Heart, avoiding spiders, and taking the path straight ahead (left is a dead end, right goes to the Forlorn Glade with more spiders, the middle path is clear). Alternatively if you don't want to dodge spiders, you could continue up the river past Old Man Willow. He doesn't debuff chickens and his roots don't aggro.
      6. Both ways lead to a bridge on the river (crossing from the Broken Heart path); from there, straight up to Tom Bombadil's house and the stone behind it.
      7. From there, along Old Forest Road into the Barrow-downs - although the path directly north of Tom's house is a little narrow and may contain wolves.
      8. Carefully through the Northern Barrow downs, past the Dead Spire, into the Southern Barrow downs to the stone ouside the Great Barrow. Contrary to the OP, "creeping" crawlers as well as rats and barghests do attack chickens, although "slimy" crawlers do not. There are often players in Southern Barrow Downs because of its new popularity, so repops were sometimes a problem. Unavoidable though.
      9. Instead of going back into Northern Barrow Downs, heading eastwards to Dead Man's Perch, and jumping off eastwards here towards Bree. You won't die from the jump, and there is even a place where your chicken won't break its legs, if you aim to land closer to the edge rather than further.
      10. Heading northeast towards the West Gate of Bree and in!

This route is probably a little shorter than going back out of Buckland to Bree-land, into the Old Forest at Adso's Camp to Tom's house, into the Barrow Downs, back to Tom's house and back out of the Old Forest- but probably only by about 10 minutes. It is probably also a tad safer, as the only place where you need to be careful around mobs is between Tom's house and the Old Forest Road into the Barrows - and my path goes there once rather than twice. Along the rest of my short-cut the mobs can be easily avoided just by keeping out of their aggro range, you don't even have to run the gauntlet of threatening tree roots in the Old Forest as KidQuantum suggests.

      Continuing from there:
    7. Wink the cat in Bree-town
    8. The Prancing Pony stone (Completed Bree-land Stones)
    9. The horse at Hengstacer Farm
    10. The squirrel at Nen Harn (don't you just love his deluded chatter?)
    11. Using the Chicken Stone in Nen Harn to Malenhad
    12. The Tyrn Lhuig Stone

I actually tried running through Fasach-Larran to Aughaire along the road through Fail-a-Khro, figuring it would be shorter than taking the stone back and coming north through Meluinen. The first couple of tries I made it (without incident!!) through to Aughaire, and was able to make it through Lehma-Kohti and Esteldin by the one-hour mark. The third time I got killed by a stealthed warg, and on subsequent tries I saw 5-6 stealthed mobs on the road and mostly got killed (made it once with escort). This makes it much more dangerous than the High Moor in Trollshaws, especially as it takes longer than the three minutes of (Paranoia+Possum Impersonation+Paranoia) to do each segment, and my first couple of tries must have been blind luck. So in the end I took the safe route:

    13. Using the Malenhad Chicken Stone back to Nen Harn
    14. Through Meluinen to the Aurochs Herd - Young Aurochs (Completed North Downs Animals)
    15. Esteldin Stone
    16. Lehma-Koti Stone
    17. Aughaire Stone (Completed Angmar Stones)
    18. Back through Lehma-Koti and Esteldin. In the end this doubling back only took 10 minutes longer, so I was out of Esteldin by 1 hour and 10 minutes into the quest.
    19. Gatson's Farm Stone
    20. Fornost Stone (Completed North Downs Stones)

I actually tried taking the path through from the North Downs to Evendim once. Found out it isn't possible, at least not without an escort- there are level 29 ghosts at the pass between the zones, two of them, and the path is narrow at that point. So instead:
    21. Trestlebridge Chicken Nest to Duillond
    22. Duillond Stone
    23. Lynx Mother (Completed Ered Luin Animals)
    24. Thorin's Hall Stone
    25. Kheledul Stone (Completed Ered Luin Stones)
    26. Duillond Chicken Nest back to Trestlebridge. Yes, I could have done Kheledul first and used /stuck from Thorin's Hall, but I wanted to save it for the next bit.
    27. From Trestlebridge down to Sniken the neekerbreeker (Completed Bree-land Animals)

I went back to the road from Sniken and took the road to the Forsaken Inn. If you go straight east from Sniken instead, there are some stealthed wolves at the zone boundary, north of the road.
    28. Forsaken Inn Stone
    29. Weathertop Stone (I didn't see any stealthed mobs.)
    30. Radagast (Completed Lone-lands mobs)
    31. The Last Bridge (Completed Lone-Lands Stones)
    32. Used /stuck command to go back to Sandson's Farm.
    33. Bag End stone
    34. Up through Oatbarton and from there east to the Brandywine, and north along the river. I mostly ran along the west (left) river bank rather than swimming, being careful to stay out of aggro range of the critters, but at the north end where the bank became too steep, I took the river instead and swam the rapids into the lake.
    35. Annuminas Stone - thankyou Brongdha for the video!
    36. Gwindenthrond Stone
    37. Longbough the Ent (Completed Evendim Animals)
    38. Ost Forod Stone (Completed Evendim Stones)
I think I took the route from Rantost into Ost Forod described by Phibbus; not exactly sure. At any rate it led directly into the gate of Ost Forod. However I did pass one stealthed warg on the path bit in to Ost Forod and two on the way back out to the lake, so do be careful along here. In the end I got bored of swimming though, and used /stuck again to get back to Sandson's farm. Yes, all that swimming took an hour.

I had no escort up til this point. This was where I called my hubby online in anticipation of needing help with the Bitter Stair.

      Lastly:
    39. Ran back from Sandson's farm to Oatbarton
    40. Oatbarton chicken nest to Rivendell
    41. Rivendell Stone
    42. Roheryn (Completed Trollshaws Animals), hubby's guardian joined me here
    43. Gloin's Camp
    44. The Bitter Stair Stone (Completed "Trollshaws" Stones)

    Quest complete!

Long post I know, here is the tl;dr summary:
    1) You can walk from Buckland through the Old Forest to the Barrow Downs to Bree, rather than doubling back and forth;
    2)If you have a very careful and alert escort you can walk from Tyrn Lhuig to Aughaire through Fasach-Larran and Fail-A-Khro, although I don't recommend it (5-6 stealthed mobs) and the safe route above can be done solo;
    3)Can't walk from North Downs direct to Evendim without an escort, so you have to go round through the Shire instead;
4)I did see stealthed mobs on the western edge of the Lonelands (so I took the road) and also west of Ost Forod (so I used paranoia+possum impersonation+paranoia). YMMV.
    5) Now is probably a good time as the F2P newbies will be farming the Bitter Stair.

    Re: Crosser of Roads Walkthrough

Once again, working on updating the lorebook guide I created. I was intending to focus on it and actually complete it over the next week or so. However I have run into a snag with editing and am waiting a Turbine response in the lorebook sub-forum to be able to continue. Until then, I am making edits and saving them to my computer.

In the meantime, I came up with an idea of using the custom chat channels while in session play. I'm sure many players and kin/group runs may have used this, but I think it would be best if we could get players to utilize a single channel. Thus, I am suggesting all players join the "chicken" channel while session playing. Personally, I am also going utilize the "chicken" channel while on my regular characters as well. This channel can be used to advise other chicken players to be on the look out for them during their runs as well as coordinating large runs and advice.

For those that are not aware of the custom channel usage, type: /joinchannel "name". In the case above, you would type /joinchannel chicken. To leave the channel you would type /leavechannel "name".

Anyone on Windfola will be able to find me on that channel whenever I am online. I will do my best to answer any questions and give advice where needed, provided I am not too busy at that moment.

    Re: Crosser of Roads Walkthrough

I like the idea of having a chicken user channel. However, I have a feeling that having a channel that is usable by both player characters and chicken characters is impossible somehow. For instance, if that worked, my chicken character should have been able to join the existing "glff" on Elendlmir; but that didn't work. You get the message "You have not entered the room "glff"." or some such. So if you make a channel called "chicken" on your player character, and you join it, I have a feeling that will mean that chicken characters will not be able to join it after that. If you've done that, and you want a channel for chicken players only, you will have to get all the player character out of it (which is quite difficult) or you will have to choose another name.

Sadly there aren't any options for player and chicken characters to communicate other than visiually. I usually resort to playing dead, using the dodge skill that does a little animation at the the beginning, running back and forth and jumping up and down, etc. It does make sense lore-wise that players can't talk to chickens and vice versa, even if Radagast can. But if that's the case, then chickens shouldn't hear NPC chatter either, and NPCs shouldn't address chickens! Although I did find it amusing...

In Bree-town: "You're not one of them Southerners, are you?" No, I'm a chicken!
In Aughaire: "You're not from around here, are you?" No, I'm a chicken!

Although one guard in Ost Guruth did have an actual race-specific address! So I got: "What do you want, critter?"

    I should screenshot those...

    Re: Crosser of Roads Walkthrough

First off...thanks to everyone that has contributed to this thread, especially KidQuantum. I discoverd today that my lorebook Chicken Session Guide was chosen to be a Community Spotlight: Featured Guide. It only took slightly over 2 years and more than 230 edits (and counting still) for me to consider it "complete." Although, I will continue to update and add to it as I have time.

As to the custom chicken channel...I realize you can't cross the boundries of human/critter speak, even with the custom channel. My idea is more for us "Road Crossers" and others to use to talk and help others. Creating the custom channel on a regular character doesn't affect making a channel as a chicken (though I have had random problems attempting to join the channel as a chicken and require more testing to discover the true problem). Further, sometimes it's lonely running around Middle Earth as a chicken. Creating a custom channel will allow us to communicate across the World more easily.

Your guide is excellent =) I haven't managed the quest yet but I got a lot further than I did previously, using your guide (it's hard for a stay at home mom to have 4 minutes to herself not to mention 4 hours lol!) And I concur it's very lonely running around as a chicken without chat =/

(although it'd be funny if when you *did* chat (in say), all regular players heard was "Brrrraaaawwwwk brawwwk brawk brawk!")

    /sticky needed!

Well, I did it! With no escort, mind you. I had no great difficulty overall, but I will say this: follow this guide! You see, I followed a lot of guides at the same time. One actually gives the coordinates of each stones and animals to encounter, which is great.........when they are right. Oh, when the decimal digit is wrong, it's not that bad. But when the whole number doesn't make sense, that's a problem! I was working with this walkthrough and this map and it went pretty well......until the bitter stairs.

Take a look on the map. They put the Bitter Stairs stone completely South, in the Giant Halls! DX I know, I know, when you click on the link, they're talking about a Rivendell stone, so it shouldn't make sense from the start. But when you never went to the misty mountains before, you don't know where the Bitter Stairs are! I don't suggest anyone to get there as a chicken. It's hard as hell, you don't see a thing since there are too many trees, there's a lot of enemies and some giants can attack from a distance. The good side of all of this is that when you can actually get across that path, the "real" one (up North, just beside Helegrod and Canada :P ) is a piece of cake. Didn't need an escort or any player to get across it. Just avoid archers, and make ready your possum impersonation skill.

I got into the same situation in Fornost: didn't know where the stone was, I went completely west where some lizard-dragons were keeping watch in considerable number. Once again, this guide is great for explaining exactly where the stones are.

Aside of this, I got nervous in the Lone-Lands, since those invisible wolves can be stressful (but didn't actually meet one). I used the "/stuck" trick two times. Finished with 3h30 remaining.

Thanks a LOT for the guide! With it's strategy (and a blessed lack of running into stealthy foes) I was able to get this on my fourth or fifth try!

    2. Annuminas

From Bag End, head north to Overhill, east to Brockenborings, and north to Oatbarton. Take the east road out of Oatbarton. Don't get agro from spiders. I've never been webbed by them yet but I'm not about to risk it. There are also goblins with spears, where agro equals intant death, so avoid them. The road bends north. You can head directly north from here past Dwaling. You can stick to the road if it makes you comfortable, but I find it just as easy to cut directly north across the Barandalf. You can run straight through the flies (and Limrafns if it's night), they will follow you but won't hurt you. Norbogs are threateners, be more wary of the salamanders and lurkers. Make your way down the hill to the high king's crossing. Go to the west end and go down the slope into the water. Swim through the roaring rapid stream into the lake. Jump as you swim for extra speed. Swim to the northernmost wall of annuminas, then follow it as it wraps around to the south. You will enter the Port of Annuminas and climb some stairs. Go down the stairs on the other side into more water. Follow this water to the east. Eventually you will see a large statue sticking out of the water. Look south and you should see a low archway. Swim through the archway onto land. You will see a camp of angmarim to your right, so keep a sane distance away from them. Pass by the east side of the camp. You will see a large entrance and 5-7 angmarim guarding the entrance. Have your escort pull the entire camp and run back the way you guys came. Don't get close to the pull, as some of these enemies have an AOE attack that means instant death for you if you are anywhere nearby! When the camp is pulled, hit your Fowl Fleetness and get inside before they run back. When you're just inside, go north behind the tent, and you will see the chicken stone. This is a safe spot. Wait for your escort to recover from the previous pull, then have him pull again. This time, you run out. If all goes well, you and your escort will be able to escape Annuminas the way you came. If you don't have an escort, wait at the entryway for random people to come by and clear this section. I've waited here a long time before since it is a low-traffic area with the hunter camp deeper in, which is why an escort is a better idea.

Also, you can go th safer way swimming through the Brandywine. It is slower, but you avoid GreenFields AND Barandalf.

    10. Mathom House

Now that all the hard parts are done, it's time for some relaxing easy stuff. Make your way back the way you came to near Sandson's Farm. Go to Michel Delving and visit the stone at the entrance to the Mathom House.

You didn't mention the use of /stuck. Only usable every one hour AND BRINGS YOU BACK TO SANDSON'S FARM, however this is not an instant teleport. You have to wait 1 min before having effect.

    11. Old Sally

Go east to Tuckborough, pass through, and find Old Sally southeast of the big tree with the hobbits. If someone is doing the escort quest with her, you will have to wait for her to respawn.

If waiting, be aware of boars and shrews, both threaten, but some attack. NOTE THAT SOMETIMES, IS POSSIBLE TO FIND PEOPLE USING BEEHIVES WHICH RELEASES TONS OF BEES THAT ATTACK ANYTHING AND ARE HARD TO SPOT!!

    16. Old Forest

Go back out of Buckland to the north, and take the path past Adso's camp. Enter the Barrow-Downs from the north. The crawlers will not attack you, but the rats will. Don't walk by any barrow entrances unless you want wights popping out to pluck you. Head southwest to the entrance to the Old Forest. Make your way down the path until you see some roots. These are ranged but are threateners. Use your Fowl Fleetness and dash past them to get to Tom Bombadil's house. Go behind his house for the stone.

Some crawlers DO attack!! Also try to do this at daytime, since less wights appear at day (Note, depending where you are, rats are hard to see).

    17. Othrongroth

Wait for your Fowl Fleetness cooldown to end, then run back past the roots. Go back to the Barrow-Downs. Head east and south. Be careful of wandering archer wights. Make your way up the hill and down into the southern barrows. The agro mobs are packed tight in this area so take care. Go west to the entrance to the great barrows for this stone.

While going to Barrows South, you have to go through narrow passes, with rats, crawlers and barghests.

    18. Duillond

Go back the way you came to the northern barrow-downs, then get to the camp on the east wall with the dead guy. Hop down to the east, then take the greenway road north all the way to trestlebridge. Cross the bridge and find the chicken nest on the west side of the north end. From the Duillond nest, swim west across the water to the slope. Make your way up, faking death repeatedly as the mobs on the hill agro you. Grab the stone near the stables.

Using /stuck here and walking to Duillond is shorter than going to Trestlebridge.

    22. Fornost

Backtrack all the way to the chicken nest in the river. Warp back to Trestlebridge. Take the path north into and through the Fields of Fornost. As you approach the entrance of the Fornost ruins, watch out for a wandering wight archer. Inside the ruins, you will meet little resistance. There are passive and threatening aurochs and a few other enemies on the way to the instance. Get the stone just outside the instance entrance.

WATCH OUT FOR THE ORC CAMPS AT THE GATES. NOTE THAT THERE IS AN ARCHER WITH A WARG THAT PATROLS THE ENTRANCE AND ROAD. If you need rest, you can go to the freeps camp.

    25. Lehma-kohti

Exit Esteldin to the east. Go straight north and take the middle entrance into Angmar. The Lehma-kohti stone is in the northeast section of town.

LOTS OF RANGED GIANTS AND THICK WARGS PATROL HERE, ALSO THERE IS A POOL WITH A 8K HP DRAKE WITH RANGED FIRE AND BE SURE TO TAKE THE MIDDLE WAY.

    29. Grey squirrel

Go back to the nest at the crossroads in northwest Malehnad. Warp back to Nen Harn. Swim south to the southern island and talk to the grey squirrel.

Note that on the way in ranged orcs (and only ranged) are thick and then in Nen Harn watch out for turtles that seem to have higher attack radius.

    36. Radagast the Brown

Get back to the road and follow it east. Avoid spiders. When you are directly south of Ost Guruth, head up into town, enter the northern tower, and talk to Radagast.

Also watch out for RANGED half-orcs that are IN THE WAY AND WALK THROUGH IT AND ITS THEIR RESPAWN!!

    37. The Last Bridge

The Last Bridge... how appropriate! Leave town to the south and go back to the road. Follow it east. Keep your wits about you, if you die here you may never forgive yourself! Make your way to the last bridge. Cross it, find the stone south of the east end, and jump on it with a satisfying PLOMP! Congratulations on becoming an official Crosser of Roads! You must be hungry by now, time for some KFC!

ALSO WATCH OUT FOR LOTS OF CREBAIN THAT SPOT YOU FURTHER AND THICK WARGS AND RANGED ORCS!!

    OTHER EVEN IMPORTANT INFO:

GOING THROUGH, NEXT TO, UP TO OR UNDER THROUGH LAMP POSTS WILL GET YOU STUCK AUTOMATICALLY AND INSTA KILL YOU OF MISADVENTURE. REMARKABLE ARE HOBBIT LAMP POSTS

PASSING THROUGH 2 STICKS, PILLARS, ETC. IN BETWEEN WILL ALSO GET YOU STUCK AND INSTA KILL YOU.

GOING UNDER CERTAIN TYPES OF MAILBOXES WILL ALSO DO THE SAME.

    There you go, my $0.02.

    summary:

-Use stuck to get to sandsons.

    -Use stuck when danger

    -avoid posts, sticks and mailboxes.

    Re: Crosser of Roads Walkthrough

I feel compelled to write my first post here in the forums.Couldn't tell how much I appreciate this wonderful thread here!

A very big thank you to all the helpful people here in the forums!Wouldn't have done it without the details You guys and girls are the best!

Did it on my third try.I followed angeljean's route on the third try.Think the only troublesome place to solo would be the Bitter Stairs.Did that easily with my friend's help Thanks to kinnies Saithilae,Bungpwee and Ardorieli as well for the fun times during Rivendell run and 2nd try Ost Forod run.

I feel anyone who attempts to do this should try to do some slight research beforehand regarding the stones' locations, especially those found in dangerous areas.Wouldn't want a Barrow Wight popping out for dinner when you look for the wrong stone

Only saw a single stealthed mob throughout the whole run. That's before taking the physics-defying climb Phibbus described. So DO watch out for stealthed mobs before landing on the sandy beach which he mentioned.

Plenty of time to complete it don't panic.I took two 20 minute breaks.Finished in 5 hours.

    To wrap things up:

1st attempt: Night blindness kills,EVEN in the Shire.
2nd attempt: DO NOT jump down the slope on the way to Rivendell.Even when you feel you can fly after completing
    Evendim.

what is the feasibility of completing this solo? I play almost exclusively solo in LOTRO and really don't have anyone I could ask to be my guide unless I pay them.

Probably quite doable - folks pulled it off solo a few years ago when the aggro range of mobs was larger than it is today, so I'd imagine that it's a fair bit easier now with the reduced aggro range. (Easier doesn't necessarily equate to easy, mind you, but I'd say that it's doable nonetheless).

The only part of any of the chicken play that needs help is the stairs going up to the Helegrod stone. I haven't found a way to make it up the switchbacks there without getting the notice of a ranged mob, which is instant death. All other stuff is doable solo.

If anyone knows of a way to get to that stone (that doesn't require impossible luck on mob spawns to not have ranged on the stairs), I'd love to know how it's done. The method of years ago was when players were actively farming the mobs on the stairs for Riv rep that allowed chickens to make it through without a pre-planned guide.

Did it about a year ago. Don't remember well about the stairs, I only know that I did aggro someone, but wasn't a ranged mob. With practice, you'll know when you'll aggro and when you're in a safe distance.

Thank you for this guide. I've just made it in 4h15m without any escort. I changed the rout a bit to make the most difficult parts before (to not waste so much time in case of fail). Bitter Stair is difficult, and entering Annúminas is tricky too, but definitely soloing is possible. I've just done it!

    Many thanks for the guide.

I just finished it, with 2h50 left (took a few breaks everytime I was in a city). I can confirm that it is possible to solo all of it. The first time I tried there were some guys clearing the way for me at the Bitter Stair, I got killed in Evendim by a stealthed tomb robber later on, though. Anyway, whoever helped a little chicken on Arkenstone today (sorry, don't remember your names), thank you very much. On my second try I waited for 40 minutes, and no one came. So I just tried it, and I got to the Helegrod entrance. There are two spots where you need to spam Possum Impersonation because of the narrow path. With some timing and a bit of luck it is not that hard, and getting up is actually easier than getting down again, that's when I got killed again. So on the third try I just got up and /stuck me back out. You do not get back to Sandson's Farm with /stuck, you get to the nearest rez circle, in case of the Bitter Stair this is the circle at Gloin's camp. After the Trollshaws I went to Evendim, starting with Ost Forod. I swam up the Brandywine River to Tinnudir, than followed the road, same way back to Tinnudir, and swimming to all remaining stones and to the Eavespires. After that I just followed the guide.

I just finished this deed today completely solo, very much thanks to this guide
the bitter stairs was not that difficult solo, it´s all about timing and I took another route to Ost Forod to avoid stealthed tomb-robbers
