I made this post because last night was the first time I ever really tried mucking about in a wiki. I always thought they were too clunky to bother with. Fortunately, thanks to a very handy template within the Lorebook, making a kinship page is painless, quick, and leaves your teeth whiter and your breath minty fresh.
Step 1: Assign someone, preferably the leader or a senior officer from your Kin to post, maintain and update the page.
Step 2: Make sure you are logged into the Lorebook.
Step 4: Then go to http://lorebook.lotro.com/wiki/Example:Kinship At the top of the example page is an EDIT button right next to the HISTORY button. Do not use the edit links in the page itself, you won't get the full text.
Once you have the editing page open, copy everything in the page. All of it.
Step 5: Enter your Kinship name in the Search box on the left side of the Lorebook. Make sure you spell it correctly, and with any capitalization you wish to use. You should be taken to a page telling you no listing was found. The first line is "There is no page titled "Kin name". You can create this page. Click on "create this page"
Step 6: Once you create the page you will see a message informing you the page has no text. click on "edit this page"
Step 7 If you're logged in you'll now see the editor. Paste everything you copied in step 4into this new page and hit save. You now have a generic entry for your Kinship.
Step 8 Edit the entry to suit your needs. The template is pretty straight forward and tells you what to change and enter into your entry. You can change headings or rename the existing ones. All the formating is handled by the template. So as long as you copied it correctly and don't mess with any of the funny tags and squiggly lines, what you end up with should look something like this: http://lorebook.lotro.com/wiki/DBS_BlackSheep
If you've never edited a Wiki it will take some getting used to. Just follow the steps and you'll be fine. Don't be afraid to experiment, you can always fix your mistakes or revert back to a previous version.
CAUTION: If you follow the instructions on the making a new kinship entry, it will tell you to search on "Kinship: Kin Name" DO NOT DO THIS. As you can see why here: http://lorebook.lotro.com/wiki/Category:Meneldor:All It will list your kin as "Kinship: Kin Name" and you'll end up listed in the K's. As you can see, some of us made that mistake. ONLY enter your kin name to avoid this. That way the page title is your kin title.
A word of advice, a wiki entry is editable by ANYONE. It is also tracked when an edit is made. So if you think you're going to be crafty and mess with someone's kin entry, I'd be looking over my shoulder waiting for the ban hammer to come crashing down.
Nope, but we had some CS Source players for awhile. We did have some Guys in WoW that played UT. It might have been them. But they used a different name.
All the information was in the lorebook itself it just wasn't very easy to find, and there were a couple of confusing older posts. For anyone without a general understanding of how to use a Wiki it was confusing.
I figured I'd help people avoid the mistakes and confusion I dealt with. Glad it helped.
