"Game client not found" error after choosing world

Hello, all. I did a search on the forums and did find mention of this issue, but it was from back in November and I'm hoping there is more information on fixes.

Basically, I built a new computer (running Vista 32-bit, unfortunately) and was trying to install all games to the Users/Public/Games folder to keep things neat. I install, patch, launch, sign in, choose world, and...boom. Game client not found.

From what I read of the November posts, the install location is likely the cause of the problem. Before I uninstall and go through the whole process again, is there any known way to fix the problem, but leave it installed where I have it?

Ok, ok. I know. Stop being stubborn and just move the darn install to another folder. But I'll give this post one more try just in case someone has an alternative.

Uhhhhh.
Users/Public/Games isn't a place where you're supposed to install software. It' sjust a location where game icons (also known as shortcuts) are stored.
Uninstall what you have and re-install t the default location.

A certain other game seems to want to move its install to this directory by default, so I figured I'd try to keep consistent. And, really, LotRO is the only one so far that does not like the install location. (LotRO also happens to be the best of the lot, so I suppose it is entitled to have a couple diva moments.)

I'll let it live in Program Files where it is happiest, though.
