Events are held for fun and camaraderie! An all same class Turtle Mania is beginning with an all hunters group March 6 at 9:30am PST/12:30pm EST!

So you came here to learn about SoD. Well here is my 2 cents. SoD is a very large and friendly kin with something like over 1200 toons and on any given 24 hour period of time over 400 toons login to play. On the weekends it could be more. At any time we usually have 1-4 pages in the kinship social panel.

Toons range from all lvls to new players to older players working their 7th-9th alt :-). Kinchat is generally helpful and events take place from time to time to help gear up, run older raids, class quests etc.

SoD has at least 6+ fully active raiding groups. 2 of which are currently working on the latest Raid in BG while still running DN, Watcher, Turtle and others to either finish off some rad gear sets, finish of deads, for fun etc.

There is currently a resurgance in Moors play within SoD and our last several runs have been filled with a full 24 man/woman all SoD raids.

I have been with SoD for well over a year now and watched it grow from a kin with less than 75 active players to the billions (er hundreds) we have now.

Next Kin sponsored event ~ Skirmish Ally Sparring! This Saturday! All contestants must arm themselves only with fists, fish, tankards, shovels, butter knives, etc. The actual spar is between the skirmish allies only with an eventual draw between the contestants who own the allies. Prizes!

I never would have suspected when my friend Kevin and I formed SoD that we would still be around today April 22nd happy 3rd year anniversary Sons of Durin!!!

Anniversary Event: The Great Race - Breeland
Last year we hosted a scavenger hunt in celebration of our anniversary and it is back by popular demand. Recruits and Members may participate in the race. The object is to solve a riddle and bring an appropriate item to the right location. All locations will be in Breeland this year.

Dress your best for this social affair! Showing off your finery is a sure way to start gossip with the locals!

Tentative Agenda:
Recurves Memory Madness ~ Be prepared! Have your 10x10 grid and pencil at the ready!
Fire Works Explosion! Everyone is encouraged to bring or use the fireworks in the housing chests to light up the sky!
Musical Ensemble competition ~ The largest organized group will get some great gifts! Song playing will have a time limit, to be determined
Parade ~ We will end the fun with a run from the homestead to Thorins Hall and then to Celondim stopping at all towns along the way!

Just joined the kin recently and they have been great in supporting me as I learned the game. I am new to Middle-Earth and could not have asked for a better welcome to the game then from SoD and also from the other people here on LOTRO Forums.

Kin Social was a lot of fun! Recurves Memory Madness turned out fun and lots of prizes were handed out. A kin ride through Eriador was a nice ending.

Telenara's annual "Are You Chicken?" ~ Get ready by completing the first 3 quests at Sandson's Farm just north of Michel Delving.

Belraene's "Last Man Standing" ~ Who can last the longest running to Gramsfoot and back? No help allowed. No fighting a Creep! One Scroll of Empowerment is offered.

How can you resist events like these? Answer: You can't! So join us in some kinship follies!

Last Man Standing ~ Belraene style! See if you can run unaided from GV to Gramsfoot. The closest of the dead to Gramsfoot wins a Scroll of Empowerment! Monday 7/26 6:30PST

Telenara's Who's Chicken Run! Saturday 7/17 noon PST. Followed with a fireworks extravaganza hosted by Brugo!

The annual "Telenara's Are You Chicken Run" was a lot of fun! A great turnout and several members acquired the Cloak of the Cluck! Congratulations to all of you!

The starting events began with Brugo who organized a synchronized hobbit style line dance at Sandson's Farm! Then after the first break Brugo also organized us in shooting off fireworks!

Ziena was an awesome protector of our flock! Celeboron also became a protector after being *sob* killed as a chicken by a craban near Ost Garuth.

We had members play for 1 hour and some that lasted about 8 hours! What a persistent bunch!

2011 Kin Events Calendar is Forming

Starting with ~
Welcome New Kin Members Party!

All new kin members who have joined since September 1, 2010 are invited to come. Meet at the kinship house. All new members can travel to kin homesteads, you just need to have travel rations. See Provisioners to purchase some.

We will introduce officers, explain what Sons of Durin offers kin members, discuss raiding, events and other info.

Door prizes and trivia! We will end with drinks from the keg of your choice! Bring your pillows and blankets!
