I think I've figured out why I hate it so much. Radiance has taken over as the end-all, be-all stat for raiding. We're supposed to desire this Tier 3 raid set... why?

Certainly not for the regular stats (terrible for almost everybody, except burgs I guess).

Certainly not for the set bonuses which are either (a) worse than VM and/or DN; (b) broken and non-functional (hunter); or (c) broken and soon to be nerfed (champ). (b & c reveal how little was actually tested/QA'd.)

The only thing the BG set has over the other sets is more Radiance. And what benefit does that give us? The ability to suck less in BG. The ability to not miss or be resisted or have our morale and dps gimped. But we didn't *need* that Tier 3 gear to beat the bosses, because we needed to beat the bosses to get the Tier 3 gear!

When the next raid has 250 gloom or whatever, the Tier 3 set likewise would just make us not suck as much. (And we know there will be an on-ramp +35 set available at the same time so whoopty-do.) Added radiance on our gear is not character progression, it is just a countermeasure to character regression. We're fighting uphill just to get back to normal.

To all who don't think so, let me ask you this: If a light-armor hat dropped somewhere that had 100 radiance and zero (0) other stats, would you wear it? How about 80 radiance? How about 50?

I show up to raids now to keep in touch in hopes that better is coming. Loot is not a factor anymore. Sure i need to pad my rad, but there ends my concern. A sad state of affairs. But hey....we have skirmishes...amirite?

I agree with BO HM. Difficult, challenging, needed time to be figured out, great level of execution required.

We arrive at BG and the moral of the troops is low. There's very little to keep us attached. Heck, I went to the moors last night and even that is dead! Freeps don't group anymore eheheh. Everyone wants to get 25 renown solo instead of 5 grouped... Even if that means 10 more deaths lol. Krip left, Illy left, Leon is around once a week. The moors-refuge-type-of-thing for those who were bored with PvE doesn't exist anymore.

I wonder last night on E when Ed/Hell was in /glff saying "I'm bored, I've nothing to do!", how many ppl felt the same?

PS: As I wrote this and opened the kin webpage, new thread popped up: "Sooo bored with LoTRO".

Solutions? just research the forums. I give you two names: Cwswim03 (Uruviel) and Wyldcyde (as Wyld himself ) Great examples of ppl who: a) know what they are talking about 99.9% of the times b) Love the genre in general and the game in particular c) Have experience d) Want to help Turbine and everyone in here.

    Peace out.
That was my thread Ric. . Notice noone refuted why I was bored or that I should look for other activities to entertain myself like skirmishes. Instead they all listed what else they are playing as I did.

One can only level so many alts, run so many skirms, get screwed by the rng, and wade through BG trash for mediochre rewards for so long before they ask...Why? Risk vs Reward is out of synch by far. I understand they wanted to tone down loot as the MoM sets were deemed OP. It doesn't make it any easier to digest though.

    Re: BG recommendations

ZC already said in his dev diary on skirmish rewards that its all about loot and they could in theory put in the most boring+difficult boss and as long as people wanted the loot they would continually run it.

i mean thats why i do skirmishes, because i want empowerment scrolls... even though after running one skirmish im already bored for the day/week.

its really a shame because obviously a lot of time went into BG.
vol3bk1 would have been a good opportunity to hook up tasty rewards.

i fear theyre just not even bothered until next cluster is released.

All I did was post my opinion and express that I felt people were being too dramatic and suddenly you've got my all figured out Ricardo?

The way I speak and the thoughts I put in my posts have one intention: improve LoTRO as a game and as a community. Be that pointing out what Turbine did do wrong, what they did right, and/or what needs improvement.

What was the purpose of your post? Telling me to stop sucking and L2P? Again, it seems to me you are a new born rich kid (read: is in a raiding kin for the first time...) who out of a sudden won a lottery and now is a big shot ala Jersey Shore dude...
You couldn't be further from the truth. First off, I'm not a Mr. :P Secondly, I'm not in a raiding kin... my kin has like 5 active members. Thirdly, I didn't win the lottery, I worked hard, put together a raid of my own spent hours in BG and am currently the only group on Brandywine to clear the entire thing. But we started from the beginning, wiped lots, played lots and are now successful... so don't give me any of that new born rich kid ****.

The only reason I called you out in my previous post was because this is a recommendations thread, you made no recommendations in your thread, you just made this end-of-middle-earth statement which is not helpful. I posted in this thread originally, to give another opinion to some of the recommendations being made, because I personally don't think this instance is as doomed as people are making it out to be. Now I realize my opinion is not the commonly accepted one on this forum, especially in this thread... clearly shown by how quick you and all your 5 post/day buddies responded. And that is exactly why I never bothered to post on the forums, and I'll go back to not doing that again. It's better to leave you guys to your invite-only brainstorm session with Turbine since apparently you have to be part of the forums posse to post here and not get flamed to hell and back for an unpopular opinion.

Probably way more than you ever did or will ever do, be that beta testing, bug reporting, starting threads alerting for bugs, and so on.
And you suggest I have a L2P attitude, before you go accusing me of that... please get off your high horse. You're reporting bugs in a game... not curing cancer here. Yes you have probably done more for LOTRO than I ever will... next time you're beta testing though.. can you make sure the gates work.. much appreciated.

And you are curing cancer? This isn't a forum for discussion about the cure for cancer, Obama's health care plans, or any thing else. It's a forum for the raids and instances of LOTRO. Stick to that as your basis for discussion. Thank you.

    Re: BG recommendations

I just slogged thru this entire thread for the first time. sigh. What it comes down to IMO, is that BG sucks, the rewards suck and the repair bills are astronomical. Most kins cannot do BG successfully, why? Because Turbine made it so with respawns and boredom in a raid. When it takes forever to clear the trash mobs for a 10 minute boss fight over and over and they respawn and gates close and require a new raid formation, well, that isn't exactly gonna want to make folks want to keep coming back for more is it.

the bugginess has made many folks just throw their hands up in disgust and not bother. My kin has a time just finding enough folks to even go in there anymore, let alone a proper group makeup. And, we were always on top of raids working with enthusiasm to finish content. As an individual, working with a great group of folks, I've managed to complete just about all the content in this game until BG. That's mainly because kinnies are so disgusted with the sloppiness that was released that Turbine calls BG. Each week, we are hearing more and more folks say they don't want to waste time, hours, doing this buggy mess. I don't blame them at all, it's a mess and Turbine needs to address this mess and make it fun for both hardcore and semi casual kins to be in there. So far, they've just made it worse with the patch and there certainly isn't much to do with the paid expansion. I mean how many times can you run SH or SH or the skirmishes before those become nothing more then a bore.

I'm actually the exact opposite. The 1-2 trash and 2-3 trash suck, and the respawns are a slap in the face, but the gauntlet is a brilliant design (when running it last night, I realized it is likely a test for an upcoming defensive raid), and all 3 boss fights are challenging enough that they keep me waiting on Locks. DN had 2 bosses that were actually fun- the BO and Mistress. The BO was fun because it was challenging, the Mistress was fun mostly just cause I was usually on captain. BG, despite its flaws, is the best raid since the Rift Imo, if for nothing else than I've almost always got a smile on my face at the end of any boss fight, despite having downed Durchest& Twins HMs for over a solid month running (and multiple times before, but not in a row), I still enjoy the fights.

I agree with the majority of this. Plus rep. The Gauntlet and the Boss fights in BG are fun and interesting (bugs aside). The central issues with the raid IMHO are the bugs, the soul-crushing amount of time spent clearing trash between locks, and the poor loot quality.

I do agree that the gauntlet is fun, what is not is the respawn rate and the bugginess when the gate closes and you can't get to Durchest if someone drops group and is replaced. Happened to us twice last night and we quit in disgust.

    Re: BG recommendations

yes the challenge is if you just stick to normal modes which are very doable its alot of work for very little reward. The overall design ethos of BG was a real gamble on turbines part.

if i was still leading a kin and they were struggling with hardmodes my goal would be to squeeze out 2 normal mode runs per week... wipes can do a lot of damage to motivation and overall progress.

leadership is huge here as they can set the tone for the group... if leader is complaining and frustrated its tough.
i saw early on that i just didnt have it in me to pioneer leading BG, especially when people are looking to me to inspire them to work at it.

i've never experienced gate bug with durchest, so unless im mistaken i think there is a correct way to wipe lol to avoid that.

its extremely hard to avoid at least some deaths in sorcerer area.

as roov and others have said often the biggest challenge is getting together 12 motivated active people with suitable class options.
