Auto-combine or combination guide?

Is there a specific sset of relics that you can combine to get items that you want (like bronze T! of might) or soes everyone just use the auto-combine function.
Will you get better results if you mix and match when combining? If yes, is there a guide that tells what you get if you combine which items?
