Why does the stupid gauntlet respawn?

Me and my kin aren't the most elite of players, sure. But, we slowly but surely do complete every content in the game. Until now though. In BG, we are having trouble with the first boss hard mode(maybe we are noobs, whatever). But most of us don't really mind trying it over and over until we get it down. Except, the dumb gauntlet has to restart every 2 hours and when it does, it just sucks the will out of everyone to do the whole thing again.

I hate trash mobs in instances to begin with. I hate that they respawn. And I really hate that we basically get 2-3 shots at a boss before we have to run a goddamn 30 min gauntlet just to get to that spot again.

The gauntlet was fun and interesting the first 2-3 times. But now, it has become a real nuisance and for people who don't have boss 1 on farm status yet, its a will sucking experience. Please do something about it, or don't, whatever. Come to expect pointless nonsense from Turbine anyway.

Yeah great time sink when all it does is half the group going, "Screw this I'm done guys". The raid itself isn't exactly the most fascinating of raids that people will want to push through the time sinks.

hmm if you think gauntlet respawn is bad wait until you deal with LT respawn and insanely long run up the tower. artificial difficulty.

gauntlet is annoying after wipe but its still only 15mins, far and away the shortest trash clear of the 3 locks.

clearing lock3 trash twice in a night, forget it.

dont get me wrong... i personally think gauntlet should be on 1hr minimum respawn if that. there is a major disconnect between difficult and brutal nature of BG relative to rest of lotro endgame content thats for sure.

Here's the thing about the Gauntlet. The Gauntlet is like cake.

No, really, it is like a delicious cake. I look forward to eating this cake because it is so tasty and delicious. While I am eating the cake, I am enjoying myself tremendously. The people around me also seem to be having a good time consuming this delicious cake.

When I'm done eating the cake, I am fairly satisfied. The cake was very tasty, and I am full. Sated. Content.

Now if a gentleman comes to me and says, "Eat this second piece of cake," I would say, "No thank you, sir, I would not like another piece of cake. Though it was tasty and delicious, I am full and desire no more cake."

And if the gentleman replied, "That's really too bad, because you must eat this second piece of cake. And possibly a third and fourth piece of cake, because you are a noob and cannot defeat Durchest hard mode in two tries, or your minstrel went link dead while you were buffing." Well, then I would quickly start to dislike this cake because no matter how tasty and delicious something is, being forced to consume too much too quickly is going to result in a tummyache.

The above analogy works for the 1-2 and 2-3 trash as well, only replace "tasty and delicious" with "painful and aggravating;" and replace "cake" with "invasive dental work."

I don't mind the gauntlet so much (although I can well understand the complaint), but I hate the respawns between bosses 1-2 and 2-3. And I agree, if we've having a bad night and wipe a couple of times, almost no one is up for fighting thru the trash for another try.

In fact, folks are signing up for this raid less and less often, in our kin at least. Although I love this game, it's getting more and more difficult NOT to feel that Turbine is doing something very wrong.

and what is really great about all this is...what is the reward for which you are striving so diligently to gain?! more rad gear, so you can run some future raid for which the rewards will most likely be quite questionable.

But it is funny, how much folks like the guantlet, the intensity of it...the first time through...
I think the devs could easily make the majority happy here, by extending the respawn time to a couple hours on the guantlet, because if you haven't taken Durchest down by then, most the raid will have given up anyways, or else you'll have filled in so many spots, that the new arrivals deserve a guantlet run...imho

That's perfect. Its exactly how I feel about the gauntlet. I don't mind it the first time. But then having to go through it again cause we weren't able to beat Durchest in a couple tries is really really aggravating. Great analogy.
