I'm 52 and I still have my Fem gear

So, my Hunter is currently Level 52, but he still has his Fem gear. I've seen some gear with better armor value, but really don't want to give up on the other stats of my Fem gear like the stacked +Vit and +Agi. Any other armor out there for a 52 that would be comparable or better?

Off the top of my head, the Tracker's set from Dolven-view and the Moria Miner's gloves are pretty decent stat-wise. Giving up those set bonuses is painful but the sooner you do it the better you'll feel.

Go get that 3 piece set from Dolven-view, it's very nice. Add some crit crafted Footman's armor/shoulders/helm and the Miner's barter gloves and you'll be set until the late 50s when you start getting close to crit L58/60 Medium pieces and the VM set from the Moria instances.

My Hunters held on to their Fem gear as long as they could too. Eventually you'll get some Quest Gear that will convince you to give up the Set Bonus. Once the Set Bonus is gone, you'll find it easier to swap out the other pieces with better Stats.

The Miners Gloves are one of the first Rep Rewards you can Barter for, and I second are a good choice for a replacement.

It was the most easily obtainable set, back in the day, which made it the de-facto set for many.

If you didn't have the Annuminas/Hele/Rift Gear, then it was the next best thing. It didn't cost anything, came as Quest Rewards, and served many well into Moria.

Yeah, it was overrated compared to alternatives out there, but none were as easily obtainable to the casual player, which is why it was so overrated.

The reason the Fem set is overrated is the Garb of the Woods set is statistically superior, is comparably easy to obtain at comparable levels, and doesn't lock you into one set of gear until you can replace the whole thing at once. So if the Fem set is worse statistically, causes problems with upgrades down the road, and isn't any easier to get than the Garb, it shouldn't be recommended over the Garb. Ever.

Personally, I think the only reason the Fem set got the attention it did is because people saw a five-piece set with set bonuses and automatically assumed it was better than anything else available.

I guess it depends on how you define "easy". I disagree that any set is easier to get than FEM.

Also, while you're min-maxing your level 42, I'll be leveling to 50 happily with my Fem set, thanks

at 52 you should have quests available for set gear in DV of moria. This set will garb you along for a time.

start working on those epic volume 2 books. You gain a bunch of armor from them and they arnt to shabby.

I forget which book but one gives you a 3 piece set that's great for turtle runs if you havnt obtained ur radiance armor with acid def yet

The Trollshaws quests for the Garb of the Woods set probably are a little tougher than the line for the Fem stuff. But certainly not prohibitively so. There's other stuff that's easier than the Fem set too. Said other stuff sucks compared to the Fem set, just like the Fem set sucks compared to the GotW set.

Also, while you're min-maxing your level 42, I'll be leveling to 50 happily with my Fem set, thanks

See, I thought both were pretty comparable (except for the one to get Tongannel's Joy, and that's probably not even worth the effort anymore). Probably tougher fights in the 'Shaws, but there are less of them and there's a lot less running around in between (and a lot less aggro when you do have to do the NPC shuffle). Plus it's a nicer-looking area and the quests are more entertaining.

Yep thats the one . Pretty nice set for toons who dont get a chance to go on Instance Runs other than Grand Stairs all the time. You get to have some minimal Acid Def thats a nice starter on Turtle Runs.

Course thats if anyone still does them. I know on Nimrodel on the hours I get to play not many players make runs anymore. Feels like its about the same 3 to 4 people who do it. Myself being one of them.

Ahh well. Eventually with 6 lvl 80 to 90 toons you can easily plow it to hell and then 3 man Rift and Helegrod without batting an eyelash.

Basically, yes. Questing in the Trollshaws is probably one of the slowest places to level in my experience. The Fem set is brain-dead: you're already working on Angmar quests anyway (there's so many of them), might as well do it. And you've got easy horse routes for wherever you need to go. Not like the ridiculous Thorenhad to Rivendell run. On the other hand, I haven't done any Trollshaws questing since they added the horse to Tal Bruinen. I imagine that helps a little.

I suppose really what I am saying is I hate questing in the 'Shaws

But what I hate more is the min-maxers waxing poetic about gear you're going to level out of in 1-2 days, maybe a week. Who really cares? It's so bloody easy to get your Moria Radiance stuff, just wear whatever you find/craft until you hit Moria.

Sorry for the derail: the OP obviously shouldn't be looking at EITHER of the sets we are talking about as he's already leveled well past them.

Re: I'm 52 and I still have my Fem gear

Garb of the Woods is way more radical than the Fem set, IMO, and you can run over for just that quest sequence. Doesn't matter for the OP since it's outleveled (and check out dolven view - good stuff there and level-awesome for XP)

But for anyone in their early 40s - I'd recommend port to Ost garth (you're a hunter!!!) and ramble up towards elf-land and quest up the garb.

Plus it has woods in the name, and hunters like the woods, b/c we shoot bears w/ arrows.

and deflect their laser beam eyes w/ our legendary glowy weapons just like we were taught in this instructional video.

The OP isnt the only person reading it so any aid is helpful for other players wondering for future references so yah. I agree with this
