    Future raid bosses

What kinds of bosses would you like to see in future raids? Bearing in mind that any boss has to fit in with the lore to a certain degree (no flying robot sharks that shoot lasers from their eyes then). First off a quick recap of what we've seen so far:

Giant, Spider, Sorceror and Undead Dragon in Helegrod
    Trolls, Orcs, Balrog in Rift
    Watcher
    Turtle
Trolls, Globsnaga Orcs, Weird Ancient Evil things in DN
Dead, Angmarin, Nazgul + Fellbeast in BG

There is a course a bit of difficulty because the ones we really want to fight (Sauron, Saruman, Witch King) all have predestined ends. Not to mention the fact that Sauron would squash us with one look. However, the fact we got to fight a Nazgul, even though we know it will be there at the end of the war, shows that Turbine are certainly looking at ways around the books that will at least let us have a shot at some of these guys, even if we can't finish the job.

Here are a few I would like to see:

Oliphaunt - there is one in the books that Sam sees that runs off to an unknown end. Could be fun, with Haradrim rider and some adds in a howdah on the back - need ranged DPS and melee for this guy

Shelob - wounded by Sam, we go in and finish the job. Lots of poison, and lots of hatchlings

Giant Wolf - this is one I'd like to see, a huge hound of Sauron, with a wolf pack of adds. Fears, wounds - bring an LM and Cappie

Mouth of Sauron - this would have to wait until after the War ends, he holes up in some fortress and we go and track him down

As may be obvious, one thing I would like to see is a return to Rift type bosses with lots of adds (Thrang is my favourite boss in this game). And it goes without saying that each raid should be structured so that the bosses give each class a chance to shine, and without unduly punishing any individual class.

So what would my fellow raiders like to see?

Shelob and an Oliphaunt are musts for the future imo.
Those battles if done right would be crazy epic

    Re: Future raid bosses

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm almost positive that there were only 6 Nazgul present at Pelannor fields and 5 at black gate. That leaves plenty of room to not only have the LT actually die by our hands, it opens up for another Nazgul encounter possibly in the Brown Lands. Though, facing off against a rogue warg pack in northern Mirkwood or in the Brown Lands would be amazing. This game doesn't give enough credit to wargs, there are only 2? in the whole game that speak the common tongue and most of the others show up as mindless hounds, when they really aren't so.

How about content that lets us use our skills, and maybe even *gasp* play to our strengths, rather than constantly exploiting our weaknesses and physically forcing us to play outside our class description.

    Re: Future raid bosses

I've always wanted to see Shelob, especially since the lore doesn't really say what happened to her after she was wounded.

Mechanics-wise I would love to see some bosses that don't mitigate half of the skills for some characters. No immunity to debuffs like Fire Lore, CJs, stuns/mezzes/roots etc.

    Re: Future raid bosses

It'll be a while before we get to Shelob but it will be fun when we do.

Until that time...would love to see some Rift like stuff again. Hell even another (but different) balrog fight would be fun! Or raiding some orcs again.

Honestly I like a lot of the bosses in BG, the trash is what gets to me. So keep the same difficulty with bosses (maybe start with Durchest and make it 6 bosses scale between Durchest and LT, maybe last boss harder then LT) and make it fun (leaving it open because ''fun'' can be taken so many different routes).

But as far as BOSS fights go, Turbine is moving in the right direction. Trash...not so much

    Re: Future raid bosses

Here's a crazy idea. So everyone has noticed that the radiance sets generally have a +defense bonus that is useful for the next raid cluster, right?

    * Moria set gives +acid defense; useful for watcher.
    * Lothlorien 1/2 set gives +shadow defense, useful for DN
    * DN set gives +fire/lightning defense, useful for BG
    * Mirkwood 1/2 set gives +fire defense, useful for BG
    * BG set gives +frost/shadow defense, useful for... ?

We're going south with Volume III, following the path of the misty mountains. Frost defense? Maybe we fight something up in the mountains on our way down to the Gap of Rohan?

Yeah that's been talked about some. I would be very suprised if the next group of instances didn't feature some kind of frost damage.

^^^^^^^^^^This, a thousand times over. It really doesn't seem like rocket science.

I want to fight a giant Cearog they are a really really cool mob and want to see more of them
I hope we get a new raid when shadowed cave is released. It already has its own channel if you ever got bored enough to wander around FoS and not die lol

Well, what about that area in the far south of the waterworks, there is a whole huge area that is void of anything, and impossible to get to (tried.) Maybe, just maybe, we will get to fight a bigger turtle, with little turtle adds . If that happened, I would scream for joy.

Its just the Vile Maw, it was shown on the general map before being given its own instance map. (Assuming you're talking about the SE corner)

Naw, I'm talking about a third of the map being unable to enter. If you go up that stairs up to that little tower in the SW corner of the waterworks, you can see the area. Vile maw ain't that big.

Gah, I meant SW corner. That circular area was the VM, there was a old beta map that had it labeled as such. The extra area there is just basically extra area, a 3rd raid in the WW would be pushing it. Also, the area is molded to give the sense that the WW keeps going, same reason the bottom right corner of the map just fades out rather than having a wall like everywhere else.

Make it feel epic, make it challenging, make it fun. That means no more turtles, no more dev oversight nonsense easy mode strats (looking at you, Durchest, and your 210% max debuff handout), no more corruptions!

    Rogmul moar.

Really, these guys look pretty cool and could be used to a greater extent then just 'Yay! Time to find a random ranger to twist into..kicking a door.. forever.'
Maybe a bit of remodeling with the appearance, but only for flashiness.

Btw, anyone else find it strange that the ranger that helps you with the Rift Skirm has exactly the right traps to counteract a huge floating ancient evil halfway between the real world and the wraith world? .. Almost like he knew... *Shifty eyes*
