what are your top 5 favorite pc/video games you have ever played?

Exchanging some pm's with someone on these forums made me think of starting a topic about some of people's favorite video and pc games they've played over the years. Also, I was interested in what people thought to be perfect or near-perfect video games. (feel free to list as many/as few games you want, I just put 5 as a suggestion)

For me, my favorite, near-perfect games I've played are in no particular order:

StarCraft 2, with Heart of Swarm expansion

    Final Fantasy Tactics

Age of Wonders 2: Shadow Magic (with the community-made 1.4 patch)

Battle for Middle Earth 2: Rise of the Witch King (with the community-made 2.02 patch you can get from gamereplays.org)

    Lord of the Rings Online

    1) Final Fantasy 7
    2) The Mass Effect trilogy (yes I am going to include these as one game)
    3) Team Fortress 2 (seriously, it's the game I have played the most so how can it not be in my top 5)
    4) Grim Fandango
    5) Knights Of The Old Republic

It was kind of tough to leave anything out of the top 5! Monkey Island, Deus X, Dragon Age 1, Skyrim, Morrowind, Company Of Heroes, Baldurs Gate and many more were close to be included.
Council Of The West On Evernight

    Runesi

    4) Mount & Blade: Warband

    5) Lord of the Rings Online

    6) Minecraft

    7) Team Fortress 2

8.) Legends of Equestria (Still in production, went through resent stress test).

I have never owned a console but got my first PC in the early 80's. First game I ever played was King's Quest 1. There have been many great games, including some of the already mentioned, I have forgotten most.

Falcon 4 (more than 200 combat flight hours logged on max realism).
Most of the earlier Microprose flight sim stuff too, not least the Gunship series.
GTA San Andreas (Became a mad completionist on that one for some reason).
Links, The Challenge of Golf (and successors, still play it occasionally with a couple of friends).
The Ultima 7's rocked my world (and drove me to the brink occasionally, lol).
Anything featuring Guybrush Threepwood and friends.

Man, those conditions are cruel, I have no choice but to cheat. In no particular order:

    - Planescape: Torment, measurement standard for other classics and some modern pretenders
    - Homeworld, Dawn of War... or just "RTS made by Relic", hell if I know which one
    - both Witchers,
    - Civilization - each part was glorious, I spent more time with Beyond the Sword than with any MMO
    - original Fallout(s)

    Goldeneye 64
    Zelda: Ocarina of Time
    SOCOM II: US Navy Seals
    Diablo II: LoD
    Warcraft 3: TFT
    Everquest
    Halo 3
    CoD 3: Modern Warfare
    Fallout 3
    CoD: Black Ops
    LOTRO

Like everyone else, before online games became the norm, I had endless fun with my friends playing split-screen on Nintendo 64. Then I hooked up my internet adapter to my playstation 2 and a 50 foot Ethernet cable and that was when I started playing multiplayer FPS's until 4 A.M... Then my best friend at the time introduced me to Diablo 2, and that was when my online PC RPG addiction began. Moved onto Everquest (which was sort of hard to do because I had to convince my mom to let me use her credit card to pay the subscription)... and that was when I learned how much fun MMORPG's are. I'm 25 now, have my own apartment, and now I seem to basically just play either LOTRO, War 3 or kill zombies with my friends on Black Ops 2 over a case of beers. Yep...

Awww man, thank god you said it. In my opinion, no list is complete without tossing SOCOM II on it. It practically invented professional competitive gaming. No game has ever matched the amount of fun, competitiveness, and sense of community for me like this one did. Part of the reason why even a decade later, veterans are -still- clamoring for SOCOM II in HD, even after the studio collapsed and the servers were laid to rest.

    +rep for the memories!

Totally dude, that game was epic and ground-breaking for the time. I think it was one of the first games to popularize using a headset while you play (which is practically the norm nowadays). I remember being in a very dedicated clan with people all over the country, I thought that was awesome. We'd have clan matches against other clans till 5 A.M. so that one of us could proclaim themselves the "L33test" clan on the server. One of my closest friends basically just stopped going to school for 2 months so that he could play SOCOM all day, lmao... Idk how his parents were OK with that but he somehow did it hahaha. I think that game was what got me into drinking coffee (I think I was around 15 or 16) just so that I could stay completely focused and stay up all night, haha. Oh man, so many fond memories with that game.

Memories your posts are bringing back...

    1. City of Heroes (RIP Sister Psyche you hottie)
    2. LOTRO, a given
    3. Command and conquer Red Alert 2 (Oh please don't notice I'm about to chrono erase your conyard, tanya "splode" your war factory, and jet strike your ore factories within 5 seconds of each other)
    4. Ultima Online (Still have fond memories of a 4 story house I built with different styles on each level and crafting trainer guide books on the 1st floor with free mining equipment, etc. for new players)
    5. My Little Pony Online with $85 Hair Braiding expansion (Just kidding. Couldn't think of a 5th. And this does sound sweeeet!).
I pop, pop, shrews in the head, ed, ed,
And I eat what's left when the shrews are dead.

All of these are games that I've played through countless times over the years, and sometimes still get out to play today . I may be getting too old for this, but somehow, they don't make games like these any more these days .
