obsolete items

how do i get conversion recipes? i have chunks of khazad copper ore and similar items on all my prospecting alts, i either bought these on AH or received from my crafting friends.

are they useless or can they be used? i bought them thinking i could process them to tier up. or do i have to vendor them and cut my losses?

wiki pages say i should get the recipes automatically but i dont have them.

any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The obsolete item conversion recipes are for no longer used parts for the creation crafts like Metalsmith, not the gathering crafts like Prospecting. Khazad copper ore can all be made into Khazad copper ingots. You have to use the little right arrow to change 'outputs' to use the old ingredients. You should have them, so the wiki is correct.
