Exclamation Angmar lvl 100 Roving Threats! Be wary with your little ones at going off-quest paths.

Loving the new Roving Threats in Angmar. I haven't found the place to start the quests for them, possibly not in game yet, or in central gondor.

Right now they give random lvl 45 loot, 600 silver, and ~12k LI XP.

They are level 100, and will kill your lvl 40s-50s very quickly.

These remind me of the Esteldin lvl 65 LI XP bounty quests in the Shire, Misty, etc... but those only spawned when you got to the location.

Anyways, be careful, unless you seek them on purpose

Edit: Thx to two Brandywine Players who tipped us off, and teamed up to search Angmar high and low for these. We didn't go everywhere though, so maybe there was more.

Whereabouts? I would like to avoid them on my lowbies, and kill them on my cappers.

I loved those quests! Traveling across the world to hunt down bounties was a lot of fun.

So these guys managed to sneak out a little earlier than we had intended and thus they do not have names or loot. Think of this as sneak peek of some stuff to come in a future update.

    TBD - Too Be Determined

Sounds like things that got left in place w/o proper names, quests, etc. Should be fun, but may disappear before we like due to level and loot, let alone the missing proper names...

Or..since Frelorn scooped me - I could be all wrong and they won't necessarily disappear...SWEET

Unintended or not, that's actually a neat little teaser. Looking forward to whatever plans are in store for these guys!

And they are going away for now. They will return once they are ready with names and loot and stuff.

Seems odd that they'd be level 100 and dropping level 45 stuff.

I do hope that they are very far out of the way. Angmar quests are scattered all over and it'd be rough as a lowbie to be minding your own business, questing, and suddenly get one-shotted. Considering how far apart rez circles and stable routes are, it could be troublesome for lowbies.

As for level 100s... sounds like fun.

So they just pop up anywhere? That is actually pretty cool, sometimes it gets boring when you know you outlevel everything.

Edit... just saw Frelorns post, so a work in progress...

Well, that lets me know that my

    /counts legs, divides by two

six high-40s/low-50s alts who are all stuck in Angmar while one of my
L100s desultorily collects rep items for them are going to wait for one
of whh's L100s to escort them around.

Which is what they were doing anyway, because I'm no good in finding
my way around Angmar, Land of You-can't-get-there-from-here.

This is cool. I liked the Esteldin bounty quests. I hope this makes Angmar a little more dangerous again.

The L60 Esteldin bounty quests were fun because a) you had to travel to find bounty monsters, b) they were in out of the way places where on-level characters would rarely bump into them, and c) they only spawned when a high level character with the corresponding quest approached. If these new monsters use those mechanics, great! If they just wander around in low level regions bumping off characters that have absolutely no chance to defeat them, I expect complaints and yet more people leaving the game (and rightly so).

If the developers have time for things like this, will we also be getting more traditional group instances in the near future?

Shnikies, are they still in game right now, if I go log in can I see them or are they already taken back out of the game until they're fully ready with proper names and loot?
As a level 1 burglar, Bilbo got a pony when he joined the Smaug The Dragon raid. Then he asked for leadership, looted the chest, assigned himself the 1st age Arkenstone and mailed it to an alt (Bilbo's a VIP so can mail from anywhere). They did some PvMP and an Epic Battle, then he apologized and gave the Arkenstone back because it wasn't BoA. He kept the pony.

Angmar used to be classified as a group zone. Maybe this is one way to lend a little more of that to the game. Right now, on level, you can cruise through the zone on your mount. That never used to be possible. I would think that would be a positive for the groupers.

    This sounds awesome!

Question: Can you use your warsteed skills to kill these new threats?

In Gondor, yes. In Angmar, no, since Angmar is a non-MC area.

    That's what I thought.

Good thing is: It's forcing most of us to group, which I find GREAT!

Ahh, bummer.... As in right now? You can just "turn" them off without a patch and such? Bummer, I would have liked to get a looksee....

It could be a total Pain in the *** for some of us as trying to find a group on my server to do Angmar is almost impossible! Nobody is answering calls for grouping under level 90, so we poor level 40s have no chance when these level 100 mobs start wandering around. Why would such well over level mobs be put in an area where nobody onlevel with the area stands any chance of surviving a meeting with them?

Some one with an admin client like a Game Master can turn off content by disabling the spawn generator. This mechanism allows them to get rid of unruly opponents. Or friendly NPCs that bestow quests that have internal problems.

IIRC - It can only be done after the world is up and running. The disable goes away on the next restart. It is something that requires a human to log into every world and apply the disable. It seems to be similar to the programmed phasing functionality for NPCs. With obvious difference that is manually controlled server wide for the NPC.
Unless stated otherwise, all content in this post is My Personal Opinion.

You mean to say sarnur was terrible as well? Because it's in a newbie zone? Or that camp of lvl 55 signature mobs in the lone-lands? Or that lvl 50 signature that is walking through annuminas (it used to be a lvl 50 sub-area though..).
Reason to come back to a previous area for something that is beyond your ability is actually something that makes the world more alive. On-level you should just avoid them.

Move to Landroval. I see people post stuff looking for groups for lower level stuff at least every few hours in /world and it usually gets filled within a half hour. So, I'm not saying you can log in, post looking for a group for GA or Fornost and immediately it gets filled, but you run around questing while the group fills up and after you've played a little bit you go run the instance or whatever.
