Server Event: Evernight Chicken Race to Northern Ithilien!

In honor of the ring bearer finally making his way into Mordor, we are hosting an event that spans a journey across Middle Earth!

Join us once again while we put on our best Chicken suits and head out into adventures beyond the Shire.

We'll face danger!

We'll face hardship!

We'll face lack of elevensies! Or Breakfast.. or Supper.. wait.. this doesn't sound so great after all...

Take a break from the ordinary hero stuff like killing orcs, carrying pies, picking flowers and checking latrines.
Help us draw the eye away from Frodo (fact: Sauron loves chicken) and have a little fun competing against your fellow chickens for some great prizes!
For make no mistake, this will be a contest to rule all other contests!


The object is to get your chicken to Aragorns Encampment in Northern Ithilien and be the first to claim victory for all chicken kind!

Escorts will not be allowed! Before you cry fowl, please see rules for more details.


When:
December 3rd, 4pm EST (Server Time)

Where:
Sandsons Farm, Michel Delving

Prizes:
1st place winner gets $3,000 gold
2nd Place winner gets a Tome of the Little Mumak
3rd Place winner gets a Crystal of Remembrance and 50 emp scrolls


Update! Cordovan has generously given us 6 codes for 500 tp each for prizes! The first 6 chickens to legitimately cross the finish line in Northern Ithilien at Aragorns' encampment will win the codes as well as the prizes

Rules:
Players wishing to be chickens and participating in this run should be at Sandsons farm at George the chicken and ready to take the quest "The Great Wide Open" 10 minutes before the run starts.
We will start promptly, be late at your own risk!
Chickens can have no escorts through Middle Earth, this is a contest! We want you to get your chicken to Aragorns Encampment alone! (or in a group of chickens)
Any chickens caught with escorts (aside from the casual quester who is curious, or just trying to catch and eat you) will be disqualified. We will have eyes everywhere watching you little chickens.
To avoid any problems with people trying to 'help' we will be posting in world often to let the chickens run by without help and that if they see you running, they should just cheer you on.
The first chicken to cross the designated finish line will be declared the winner, judges rulings are final.
Please make sure your internet is stable, you have cleared enough time and are ready to go when race time starts, there will be no delays and no waiting for a player who dc'd etc.
If you die, you can restart the race at any point, who knows what will happen at any time.
Chickens may travel in a group, solo, or both at different times during the run. (remember there is safety in numbers.. and all you have to do is be quicker then the last guy when the stealthed mobs come!)
This contest is for fun, bragging rights and small token prizes. Please try to enjoy yourselves, play courteously and always observe the 'fair play' rule.




Please note:
In order to do the quest: Great Wide Open, which you will need open to get to Northern Ithilien, you will need to do prequests to be able to join us.

You will need to do the following quests at Sandson's Farm to open the Great Wide Open quest:
1. Which Laid First
2. The Early Bird
3. The Sky is Falling
4. Flying the Coop
5. Flying the Coop -- Bree-Land/Ered Luin/Evendim/Lone-lands/North Downs/Trollshaws
6. Returning to Wald

Doing these chains will open two additions quests:
Free Range - not necessary to do before the run
Great Wide Open - make sure you have it open before race day

4 pm servertime is a really hard time to start a 3,5 hour ish run for any EU player though. For Cet it will mean a run from 22:00 till 1:00-2:00. Peaked some interest in the kin, but the time is basicaly a nope.

This FINALLY makes sense to me! Clearly, Isildur had gone into battle with a bucket of the Colonel's Original Recipe (or Popeye's Spicy?) tucked under his arm, and Sauron was reaching greedily for a drumstick when the Ring was cut from his hand!



I still would have recommended that Sauron club Isildur with his giant mace and taken the whole bucket. More chicken for him, plus no danger of having your his digits lopped off.

I know it's not ideal but I work 2 jobs and am in the US, that time is the best I can do at the moment

Chickens can't get through the barrier at isengard and
there's no other way to get to Rohan/Gondor let alone
getting into after battle...

The way through to After Battle, does it require a character 105 with that bit of epic done to reach that in chicken play?
Asking since on Evernight I have some old cap 85s to use and if it needs 105 I'll have to pass entirely.

Any level char who goes into chicken play can get to Aragorns Encampment in Northern Ithilien if they know the way

Update: 18 chickens leave the starting point..

6 have died before Galtrev.. run chickens run!

19 chickens left Sandsons farm. One started late.

6 had died before Galtrev.

Several more died by Pelargir.

One chicken dc'd and ended up at Sandsons farm again too late to restart

3 (Nimbleshot, Baaron and Bisby) chickens made it to Aragorns' Encampment in Northern Ithilien at the 2.5 hour mark, followed closely by chicken Squirle who took a detour to bathe in the forbidden pool. Naughty chicken!

a total of 5 chickens made it through .. the last chicken (Aldimara) ran through at the 3.5 hour mark! Congrats to all chickens and thank you for joining us!

A special thanks goes out to the people watching the chickens cross the road, the ones in chicken server and the ones cheering everyone on!

Is it still a secret how you can get to North Ithilien as a chicken?
Can you use portal from South Ithilien to get there?

You can take the boat from Lossarnach as well as use the portal after the crossroads.
