The future of lotrostatus.com and the Trait Tree planner

Hello all,

I just want to start out by saying thank you to everybody who stood by my side even when the website was not working properly. The amount of support that I have received over the past two months has been simply overwhelming. Thank you very much.

As many of you know my website - lotrostatus.com was hit with multiple DNS and SSL issues and parts of it went offline starting August 9th. Because of the amount of traffic that the website sees on a regular basis and the increased number on patch days, I had to set up a complex system so that everybody has a consistent experience when they need to use the website. In August my host updated multiple things to improve the security and performance of the websites it hosts and these changes were lethal to my operation. I was informed a week before these changes happened so that I could prepare and update the website accordingly. Due to my schedule and work that I have been doing, I have been too busy to keep up with everything the site needed and I was forced to temporarily put it on the back burner and for that, I am very sorry.

Most recently I finished up my project that was taking every bit of my time and I was able to sort out exactly what needed to be done for the site to operational again. My host and I worked together over the past several days to do everything possible to get it working and we have it working again. There are a few important changes though that will be happening to improve everything in the future.

- Open Source
I will be working on a way to open source the project. This will allow other developers in the LOTRO community to help keep the trait website up to date. I do not exactly know how this is going to work yet and If you would like to help. Please send me a PM.

- Mobile App
With iOS 11 the app was taken off the App store. I had thousands of active users and I intend to have an update out soon. With the new app, I will have to rebuild most of the app and I would like to find a way for its information to be updated faster than the current way which is just me doing it.

To help keep the trait points cap up to date, I have made it open source.
If you want to update the trait points please make a pull request.

Hey all,

I just wanted to let everybody know that there is now an Upvote and Downvote system for every build on the website. All player-created builds from the past have had their counters updated to a lower number so that all new builds have a fair chance of becoming the top build on the website. Let your friends know and start your competition at the top!

Then I found this thread. None of my saved trait tree plans are working for me.

Your link isn't working either - the one without the www.

Is there anything else going for the trait tree planner?

If the site no longer works or is down. There is an alternative that is actually quite nice.

It doesn't seem to be loading for me. I've tried several browsers and computers. It tries to connect but eventually it gets to a "The connection has timed out" notice. As if the computer it attempting to make a connection to the web server but can't. Not sure if others are getting the same issue.

I was able to log on to the trait tree planner just now with the new link. I'm using Safari fwiw.

Yesterday it still wasn't working for me (even without the www). Today, it's working fine (on Firefox at least).

I also want to say thank you for getting this up and running again, Greatlord365. To be honest, I much prefer this one over the Bearded Minstrel trait planner because the UI is just smoother and updates faster (I find Bearded Minstrel to be laggy, where I have to wait between each click).

I don't have enough coding experience to help, but I want you to know that the work is appreciated. It'd be nice if the traitlines were updated to u23, but I'm sure that'll happen with time.
