Troll-Play Is So Outrageously Outdated: It Needs To Be Scaled Correctly
The gimmick of playing as the trolls can't even be enjoyed anymore, they're just so weak and helpless all they can go do is toss a boulder or two then die in a couple seconds. The 12h wait is so pointless, nobody is lining up to play these things and even if they are, their turn is going to be over 10x faster than it took to get the commendations it costs to play them.
Not only are they so weak and do barely any damage, the 2nd playable (red) troll is a complete joke: standing at level 100 and can't even beat a slug in a 1v1. Everything is purple-named with the second troll, and get one shot by any freep. Scale the second troll up to 130 and increase the hp up to 10-20M+ or even higher, and crank up the damage mitigations way up both of them.
Yeah the two trolls that are unlocked when freeps control 7 and 9 control points are still level 100 and can die to training dummies
The level 130 troll does not die to the training dummies but he can't tank first floor TR like the old days
They really lost the thread on this one. I know PvMP has been a neglected trash heap since Turbine days but damn, troll and session play could be great fun. Those two video thumbnails alone are likely more than most of the current player base has ever seen of PvMP Session play.
I think the last time I played as a ranger was....Mirkwood? Shouldn't be that hard to buff up session play. Adjust the cost too.
I think they were scaled at 115 or 120 (can't quite remember which), but were later nerfed back into meaninglessness because they were too overpowered, which is exactly what they were always supposed to be.
The problem here is that the session play characters (Troll/Rangers) were designed to be ridiculously overpowered such that they can turn the tide in a raid versus raid situation from getting absolutely crushed, to a fight that all of a sudden becomes an incredibly major challenge to the overpowering force, where the troll and Ranger can achieve that with relative ease.
Trolls tanky as #### (taking at minimum, a couple of minutes to die under continual focus fire from a raid of (at minimum) 12+ freeps all equipped in end-game gear without receiving any heals, does insane AoE damage that absolutely chunks everyone but tank spec'd freeps (again, all fully geared in end game ####), and an absolute menace with respect to freep raid positioning; knocking dozens of people away a stupid distance, forcing freeps to scatter, AoE stun etc.
As it stands right now, I would not be surprised if trolls couldn't kill a group of grams slugs before running out of power and requiring defiler heals.
As for rangers, they are intentionally supposed to be able to almost one-shot high rank warleaders who are spec'd to tank damage, as well as survive the continual focus fire from a raid of high creeps (again, for a couple of minutes) before succumbing. They are meant to be able to one-shot literally every other creep class.
