    Server Issues

    @SSG Fix your servers. We don't spend hundreds and thousands of dollars on this game to pay you people and keep this going for there to be server crashes and issues this bad for this long. Get it together. I'm unsubscribing and not spending another dime on this game until you fix this. It's getting ridiculous at this point. Your community is one of the most loyal and we spend an absurd amount of money for an underperforming game with server issues, lack of class balance, etc. Have an ounce of respect and start hiring better employees or spend more time fixing current issues. Thanks.

    How those boots taste? Foh with that. Essentially 7 days of downtime isn't acceptable. People "doing their best" doesn't give them a free pass.

    I am going to have to say I am leaning heavily towards the unsubscribe camp myself.

    I know it is an old game and there are issues as they push the core game engine and that there are certain aspects of the game that will never be fixed and I am actually okay with that because I know that going in each time I launch the game. What I do not accept is how they handled the communication. I work in a customer focused industry and if I treated my customers in this manner I would... actually I do not know how to finish that sentence as being in a customer focused industry I would never treat any of my customers in this manner.

    I remember a year or so ago I had this one customer wanting to do a significant purchase but there was a computer glitch with the order and it did not actually order all the items from the supplier when all indications on my side said it did. I discovered this a few days later and did get the order to go through but the supplier would not be able to deliver before when the customer needed it. Did I ignore the issue? Did I not communicate to the customer? Nope! To this day I do not know why one program said all was good but another said it was not. I called the customer and explained I had no idea what went wrong but I accepted it was our problem as the business. I called a few competitors and pieced together the missing items by telling the customer if you go here you will get this and if you go here you will get that. Explaining to him that I had the other places put the items on hold so they would not be sold.

    I have a loyal customer to this day. The customer told me that they keep coming back to me because I owned the problem. It was not because I spent the time to source out the items at different places (it was appreciated) it was because I communicated with them, I kept them in the loop even when I had no idea what went wrong.

    The point of my story is if I handled the customer the way SSG handled this I would not have that customer. It would be like me calling the customer that there is an issue with his order via a voice mail message and then ignoring all his calls for the next three days to only leave another voice mail message of 'Yeah, there is still a problem' <click>.

    That is why I am leaning heavily towards the unsubscribe camp. Also I am typing this message now because the game became unplayable for me again with significant lag and rubber banding.
    Why as a male do I play a female toon? The male is an upper body powerhouse that is capable of lifting a horse over his head while punching to death a 10' troll with no way of adjusting it so that you do not fell like your are going to rip the door frame off with your shoulders each time you want to go into the Prancing Pony for an ale.

    Player A can't login for 7 days. Player B can login in last 3 days, and have small periods of time with lags. Of course Player A and Player B have different side of view, right? Because Player B can compare how game working (or don't working) on 17th-18, on 18th-23, and 23th-today.

    I'm with you i will cancel my sunscription if they cant change a thing.
    As a IT specialist i really cant understand how they could have issues like that, what ####ing type of database cluster or what kind of virtualization they use which isn't supported anyway to get a "fast" solution we are talking about 1 week now.
    I dont think that it was related to the 27 minutes downtime of the misconfigured cloudflare router. My opinion is the database have big problems and ist getting overhead from time to time, this will also affect the response time and latency.
    The routing to the datacenter is quiet fine in the past days i monitored, so guys get some payed help or ask me

    And i remember that the eu located servers in amsterdam were cancelled because the chat was not compatible with anything in the amsterdam datacenter, so now its your chance to move the eu servers to amsterdam we have no chat anyway.

    And remember if you cant fix the main problem throw money at the problem, better and faster hardware can improve bad coded systems

    And that is why they will likely give all VIP players a billing date extension, so you don't pay for those 7 days.
    You will likely also get a bag of all sorts of goodies if you are VIP and Premium, probably even some LP!

    Even if you are a free player, having spent no money ever whatsoever on the game, you'll like get a little bonus pack. Probably something with EXP tomes, etc...

    They'll make good on us having to wait. Yeah, its unacceptable, but it is what it is. And its not likely to lose a whole lot of customers. Hell, they may even extend the free play for another month till September 30th or so, along with the coupon code for quests, and the 99LP sale so people do have time to take advantage of it.

    See I agree with pretty much everything you said. And I'm sure they will add compensation etc. My point is more that consumers who plug their ears and say "There's nothing wrong," when there definitely is stuff wrong, set a bad precedent for the company to follow. I'm not even specifically blaming the devs/IT at SSG. I'm blaming the corporate policy of SSG in regards to lotro. It's clear they see lotro as a cash cow to be milked dry instead of nourished into something greater. This game still has absolutely fantastic systems and combat and world building. It should be WAY bigger than it is. I would even submit that the game is better now than it was during 95-105. But SSG's general mission on lotro doesn't seem to include trying to massively expand the playerbase, which is a shame! Because the market is fairly devoid of great games. With a couple tweaks in their model and a little more resources expended server side lotro could have a much larger population than it does. I'm frustrated because after 9 years playing I think the game can still be fantastic but the corporation who owns the IP somehow doesn't agree.
    That's my rant.

    Hmm 7 days sounds like an issue on your end.I didn't start having issues til yesterday. Sounds like you have a ###### pc or ISP.

    Everyone who has VIP compensation must have at least this VIP extension.
    The events should also be extended.
    PS. I hope the administration will solve the problem soon, otherwise they will lose players.

    I seldom come to the forums, when I do, it is usually to find out if others are experiencing the issues and/or feelings that I am. For the most part, long and short term subscribers continue to be loyal and patient, this must be as frustrating to Standing Stone as it is to those who enjoy the game. I played on a live server for many years and after returning from a break decided to have a look at the Legendary servers and have been there ever since. I have a couple of questions.

    1. These issues seem to begin around the same time every day, for me here in Oz that is around five or six pm. The time many people finish work and sit down to play. Is this because everyone in Standing Stone has left work for the day? Is anyone overseeing the a/h work times? I would think, at this time, it would be necessary.

    2. Unfortunately these issues have rendered the game unplayable/broken for many hours a day. I don't see how Standing Stone can charge those on Legendary Servers or Subscriptions for a service that they are not providing? We are all very aware that this is ongoing and that they Developers would be required to work within certain guidelines and strictures, however this is dragging on with no end in sight.

    I just hope that they are able to make the necessary changes, as this is trying even the most loyal subscribers. I just can't seem to find a game that offers me the same level of enjoyment.

    lol, am logged in on brandywine at the farmer's fayre. I am stuck as is everybody else. Every now and then ONE person can move 2 game meters and then gets stuck again, we are able to move one at a time. Looks like moving is single-user-per-server now? This is hilarious.

    UPDATE: now a few of us can move at the same time. Horray:-)

    Please don't expose your external ip address in a public forum. It is like an open invitation.

    And you are aware that a 'lost packets' in traceroutes or pings most likely are caused by nodes configured to not respond to such requests, rather than actual data loss, i hope?
