Do I have to start a new LI?

I I have tried to convert one of my LI's to the new system with no success. I did the appraisal and accepted it. But the weapon hasn't changed, all 7 legacies remain on it. no socket boxes. It will not go in the circled socket box on the character sheet. Do I have to buy and new LI to get the sockets or do I reforge it?

Old LIs are not converted. You need to go to the Last Homely House in Rivendell and get new weapons.
