Unexpected problem switching from old to new LIs

A kinnie has encountered the following baffling problem while trying to switch from old to new LIs.

He successfully claimed against the two LIs in his old legendary page, and received the usual quantity of Ancient Script, Enhancement Runes and Shattered Morgul Tracery. However: the two items ares still in place on the legendaries place, they also still appear on his character inspection page, and he can use them in combat despite having received legendary items in exchange. In addition, though they appear on his character inspection page, they have a red border, meaning they are unusable.

The problem is that he cannot shift them, either of the legendary page or off the inspection page. This means that he cannot equip the new LIs he just bought.

Any suggestions?

I think there is a misunderstanding.

The red box on the old LI means that you cannot improve it further, but you can still use it.
To equip the new LIs move both old ones from your character panel into your bags, then drop the new ones in their slots, still on the character panel.

The old LI's are still fully functional and can still be used. They just can't be improved/changed/altered any more (title scrolls might still work on old LI's, I haven't attempted to use a title scroll since the new LI system went live). The appraise function on the LI panel basically scans the old LI and gives you some new barter tokens based on how well developed the old LI is. The appraise doesn't change the old LI, it simply gives you a bunch of tokens based on the development condition of that LI.

You cannot equip a combination of old and new LI's at the same time, so you can't use an old class LI and a new weapon LI together.
You must use only old LI's or only new LI's. No mix and match between the two.

Your friend needs to manually drag both old LI's off their character panel into an inventory bag (or destroy them) before they can equip any new LI's.
