    Elrond
    Galadriel
    Cirdan
    Gandalf
    Frodo
    Bilbo
    Samwise

Pretty sure there weren't any others... if that's right, list the titles Bilbo used to describe himself while trying to riddle Smaug.

Barrel-rider... that's all I remember. Man, the Hobbit was a long time ago .

As a side note, the names of all 13 Dwarves also appear in that Gandalfr story. I read about it in a book that talked about Tolkien's sources. As another side note, Ents (or at least the concept of moving trees) were partially inspired by Macbeth.

It is said that Tolkien was dissappointed by the scene where the forest rises up against Macbeth's castle and it turned out to be just a bunch of actors with braches and twiggs.

Not sure if you would count Tom Bombadil in this. He did put on the ring.

He didn't truly bear it, though....he never took it anywhere and it had no effect on him when he had it on his finger.

Yep, he thought it was a total cop-out.

    Anyway, back to the question....

"Ring-Finder", "Ring-Winner", "Luck-Wearer", "Lucky Number", and "Stinging Fly", in addition to "Barrel-Rider".

How old was Lobelia Sackville-Baggins when she died? (Finally... er, I mean... poor little Hobbit).

I know they offered the first fruits of the harvest to Eru, upon the Meneltarma, but of any other religious feast I am unaware..
Thus he came alone to Angband's gates, and he sounded his horn, and smote once more upon the brazen doors, and challenged Morgoth to come forth to single combat. And Morgoth came.

"They were called Erukyermë ("Prayer to Eru"), Erulaitalë ("Praise of Eru"), and Eruhantalë ("Thanksgiving to Eru") and took place in the spring, midsummer, and autumn respectively."

What date on the modern calender will Durin's Day fall on this year (2008)?

    That would be October 14

Which members of Thorin's company had names that didn't rhyme with anyone else's name in the group?

Your memory or your rhyming... It may be a strech, but Thorin does rhyme with Balin and Dwalin, if only in the last syllable.

Oh ok, I suppose you're right. Or at least right-ish. I'm not recalling all three of the elven kings' names at the moment though, I think I'll have to look them up.

    Ingwe, Finwe, and Elwe.

In what book does the tale "She that is fallen" appear? And what is it's right name?

Akallabêth, in the Silmarillion, refering to the downfall of Númenor.

How was the Sceptre of Númenor lost?

Ar Pharazon had it with him when he got the bright idea to attack the valar, so he lost it when he broke the ban.

What great battle occured at the dead marshes that caused it to become haunted?

(FYI, you generally put up a new question once you've gotten it correct. Unless you just like solving them, which is much more fun!)

Anyway........... What year was Pippin born?

I believe the answer is the year 1390 of the Third Age. If correct, here is my question: Born in 2983 of the Third Age, what member of the Fellowship is the same age as Faramir the son of the Steward Denethor?

    Re: Middle-Earth Quiz!!

Hehe ok got it =) according to the EoA, it is 2990. according to the appendix of the return of the king, it is 1390, but i think it is another type of calendar.
To keep it going: In which battle did the treachery of Ulfang of the Easterlings turn the tide towards evil.
"And long there he lay, an image of the spendour of the Kings of Men in glory undimmed before the breaking of the world."

It doesnt get any better than this.
