I do have a few screenshots but can't get them posted at the moment (I'm not on the computer where they are stored). I'll try my best to get them on here unless someone beats me to it.

When you go through the ruins of the Refuge of Edhelion, you'll find a little-visited valley. The road leads to a locked gate that presumably will eventually open to Northern Ered Luin (Lindon). On the left as you head towards the gate is the door to Skorgim's Tomb.

I looked around this valley for any nodes thinking that I might have found a good spot to gather tier 1 resources (there is none ) and slaughtered a few helpless critters for the hides. As I worked my way back to the Refuge, I spotted something on the southern cliff wall that looked out of place. As I got closer, it didn't fade into the rock surface (so it wasn't just the way the textures looked from a distance). There, about half-way up the wall, was the outline of a man's head in profile. It is quite distinct but to see it you must be either north or northeast of it. I couldn't see it from the west as I entered the valley.

Go take a look. Maybe someone will recognize the profile and solve this.
I think I see what you're talking about on the hill, but it took me quite a while to 'see' and it might be just a simple case of our eyes playing tricks on us. (I wasn't able to see your screenshot since this original post was made last year and the screenshot anchor is long gone, I think.) I'm going to go exploring today and see if I can't find any similar hills that have the same texture on them. I might end up finding it elsewhere, and if I do, then that probably means we're just seeing things.

I did, however, find something else in that area that might be of interest...

Anyone notice anything, oh, I don't know, maybe out of place? Could be just my eyes playing tricks on me. I wonder if that's anywhere in the lore?

The other one, I don't have a picture of, but its pretty funny. I'm still trying to decide what it depicts though.

Personally I like to think it's orcs and Durin's Bane (the big guy) driving the dwarves out of Khazad-dum but that seems less likely than other explanations.

That's a nod to The Hobbit there... where the eagles rescued Bilbo, Gandalf, and the dwarves when they were up in the pine trees surrounded by orcs and wargs I believe... been a while since I read the hobbit.
Can you tell me where that is located? Would love to go check it out.

Yup thats from The Hobbit, Gandalf set the trees on fire, and they were grabbed by eagles. The one I don't know about is the other one, which I don't have a pic of.

I actually can't remember where it's at. There's actually more than one IIRC, and its possible one of them is in the eastern hallway, going south, thats next to the Great Goblin's cave.
Sorry for not having details though.

    Hi All,

New to the game (almost two weeks). I love the lore and the game really makes you feel like you're there!

Something that struck me as I tried my first character in Archet. If you rearrange the letters you get TEACHR. Interesting since it's a tutorial zone. Yes, I double checked and I realize it is referenced in the books a time or two. Just thought it was interesting.

Apologies if this has been mentioned before. I searched but didn't see it. And maybe it's just coincidence.

Merely a coincidence, as the town "Archet" exists in LOTR (as do Staddle and Combe), but a cute find ^^

You wanna know something scary? If you rearrange the letters in "The Shire," you get "Shere Hite."

WOOHOO! Hey... we can have raids in game... can we have a panty raid? Cause that would be spectacular! I'm gonna submit it as a suggestion for an event.

Re: Hidden Nuggets we see all the time...

Finally read through every post! The thread really makes my day reading it at work. I was one who kind of made fun of this game when it came out thinking it would never do the world justice. (I had also started playing WOW and thought nothing could be better and that love affair ended rather quickly). I had only read LOTR a few years ago to be caught up for the movies. I had seen the animated films many times so had those ingrained in my memory. I had thought that I had read the Hobbit when I was younger but now I am starting to think I might have skipped it.

I've only been part of this game for a couple of months, and boy I can't believe how well they did with this game! Of course there are things to work on and make better, but one of the critcal things to this game that I don't think they could have done any better was the lore. I don't intend on leaving for many years and hope they will continue making this world believable and lore-bound.

Anyway this game (and especially this thread) has got me back into reading Tolkien. I am almost done with "The Children of Hurin" and am thinking of reading the "Silmarillion" next (which I have but never read). When I am dont with that I am thinking of getting a really nice copy of the "Hobbit" and on to LOTR again, then the other books.

P.S. Many thanks to Berephon for adding his input to this great thread! I looked for your bboks the other day at BN and Borders and couldn't find them, might have to special order them or something.

    Anyway just my 2 coppers!

Yes, you can get them online or via special order through Borders, Barnes and Noble, Amazon, or any of the major (or minor for that matter) bookstores.

Probably said before but such a huge thread...

In Thorenhad if you you sit by the scout at the corner...he says this to everyone riding into the place:

"You there! Welcome to Thorenhad, the camp of the sons of Elrond!"

    nice.

So far, two days of reading at my part time job and I have only gotten thru 34 pages of this thread!

Thanks to all the posters for the most enjoyable and informative thread I have EVER read on any forum. I have played a great many MMO's over the years, and none has come close to the detail and consistent structure this game has. The community of people is great.

I have not found any "nuggets" not mentioned before now, so I really cannot contribute anything, but I just wanted to thank the posters and the "lore-monkey" for renewing my enthusiasm in the game and its lore.

Only one thing......Has anyone else mentioned the "Cat House" in Bree?

I don't know if this is a nugget, but there is a house in Bree you can enter, and its full of cats mewing at you. Is that in the Lore somewhere?

what would be really neat is if somehow someone with lots of time on their hands could go through all 60+ plus pages and condense down what has been posted into a nice easy to read list. Sure it would be long, but it would be much easier to read than so many posts.

    Ok, yeah, I'm dreaming.

It could be all that is left of Tevildo, Prince of Cats, and his retinue. Tevildo was the prototype of Sauron in The Lost Tales.
