I have now spent several hours hanging around north of the Refuge, standing at the appropriate coordinates, looking at the southern cliff from a northern or northwesterly direction, and I STILL can't see that face in the rocks, not nohow.
If anyone can ever get a screenshot, I'd love to see it.

No, not that one. It's supposedly out on the road north of the Refuge of Edhelion, on the way to Skorgrim's Tomb. The coords are said to be 14.0S 99.8W, and the face, a man's face in profile, is supposed to be visible on the southern cliff, when viewed from the north or N=northwest. But I can't find it.
(I did see the tree floating in the air, though, visible to the southwest.)

That face is just an illusion, a way the textures line up just the right way; but you really need to be drinking and squinting to see it. No need to waste time trying to find it.
That face had me baffled as well (I'm the one who mentioned it way back when), but tonight with an alt, I could not see it at all.I swear I could see it every time I went there before - perhaps a half-dozen times (and I wasn't drunk, on drugs, nor squinting... I swear!). Perhaps it was nothing more than a fluke of the cliff textures, but it was quite obvious (before tonight anyway) and it reminded me of someone (but that someone eluded me).
I guess we'll never know for sure. I apologize for the false alarm if indeed that's what it is.![]()

It's unlikely that he's allowed to promote his private ventures on a Turbine moderated board. Since I'm not bound by any such ethical dillemas however, the first book in the series is called Sharamitaro. Here it is on Amazon replete with plot summaries and links to other books in the series. I know nothing beyond that except that my copy is due to arrive later this week.

The ruins in the mines make it quite clear that it is after the fall of The Refuge.

The dwarf starter area is before Gandalf goes to see Bilbo about being the Burglar in the Hobbit.
