Better than Haggis? That's not really saying much... thank the lord, there are a LOT of things better than Haggis.

I think I'm going to have to try making those pumpkin pie bars. BTW Clover, do you have a good recipe for buckeyes? I have found myself in the possession of a massive amount of peanut butter and I think that may be a good way to get rid of it.

Lazy as gamers are rumored to be.. I think a lot of us are good cooks.

And thanks a lot Clover, now my husband is going to make me make Pumpkin Bars.

Actually that's a whole lot easier than the Pumpkin Cake I've been making, although that one is really good.. especially when you use more rum than is called for! http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/fo...l-Icing-107516

Oh and if you want some REALLY good Gravy and a turkey that's not so traditional you've got to try http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/fo...d-Gravy-107285

Re: Ahhh...... Tarrant and his ever changing forum titles...

I wll definitely be trying those pumpkin pie bars. Thanks Clover.

As for the adverse reactions to scrapple, ya just gotta try it and not ask what is in it. I personnally like mine fried then topped with butter, or for a real treat, topped with butter and molasses. Stuffed cabbage is also great, but probably my favorite PA Dutch dish is Hogma, or better known as pig stomach stuffed with potatoes, sausage (REALLY good with venison sausage), and celery. And then there is pigs feet too.

But then again, I'll eat just about anything, or at least try something once. AND I'm a pretty good cook. A few of the dishes I've tried that are out-of-the-ordinary...
    • rattlesnake
    • ants, bees, & grasshoppers
    • eel, shark, squid, & octopus (these aren't all that unusual)
    • groundhog
    • raccoon
    • possum (only once - has a strange aftertaste)
    • carp (gotta be young or it is inedible)
    • bear (NOT dump fed)
    • pigeon (tastes like dove)
    • dandelion (again, not unusual)
    • tongue
    • sweetmeat
That's all I can think of at the moment.

I think Clover should start a recipe thread and award some kind of prize occassionally for recipes that get the most votes or something. Just a thought.

I will poke my sister she lives in Columbus and goes to OSU. I think she makes them for game days. But, I know I have an outstanding peanut cookie recipe. I will have to get out my cook book!

As for the "original" thread topic...you mean the forum mods are hunam?!?!
~There is a greater darkness then the one we fight, it is the darkness of the soul that has lost its way, the war we fight is not against powers and principalities it is against chaos and despair. Greater then the death of flesh is the death of hope…the death of dreams, against this peril we can never surrender.~
