This thread is EVIL, pure EVIL. Five Guys to pie… this thread is a cholesterol nightmare! And I could really go for a Five Guys Little Cheeseburger and Fries now… curse you all!!!!

Okay, I am going to get into the mix by giving you all the recipe for illegal fudge. Well, not really illegal but the microwave part is kind of dangerous (people were getting very badly burnt so the marshmallow fluff companies no longer publish this recipe). But this stuff tastes great--trust me, I am a Supreme Master Holiday Baker and Confectioner (you can be too.. but there is this little quest you will need to do for me before I give you the secret).

    3 cups sugar
3/4 cup margarine or butter (I think margarine makes it creamier)
    2/3 cup evaporated milk
    1 12 oz package semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 7 oz jar Kraft marshmallow cream (I think you can use the Fluff Brand as well… but it’s easier just to use the whole jar of the Kraft one)
    1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract

    - Microwave margarine in 4 quart microwave-safe bowl on high (100%) 1 minute or until melted
    - Add sugar and milk; mix well
    - Microwave on high 5 minutes or until mixture begins to boil, stirring after 3 minutes
    Mix well and scrape bowl
    - Continue microwaving on high 5-1/2 minutes; stir after 3 minutes
    - Stir in chips until melted
    - Add remaining ingredients; mix well
    - Pour into greased 13 x 9-inch baking pan
    - Cool at room temperature and then cut

    A few tips:
    - Use a spoon that won’t melt in high temperatures. LOL, I made this once when I was about 12 and didn’t think about that aspect of it. As I was stirring, I realized that half the spoon was gone (melted away). And it was a large, mixing spoon too!

    - The vanilla will make the fudge get really thick and hard to stir… save it for last and be ready for a mini upper body workout while stirring.

    - Did I mention this stuff will get as hot as lava? Be careful.

    - After it cools, lick the spoon clean... YUM

I tried Five Guys the other day. It was pretty good. I liked the fries. But, still no In-N-Out!

Just remember that In-n-Out is known for their burgers and shakes. Burgers are good, especially when you customize them a bit. Shakes are awesome. Their fries? Worst... fries... ever!!! Uggg

I liked your haikus. And I liked the avatar. Perhaps Tarrant would have preferred a BLUE bow? I dunno.

Hey... I lived in San Diego for a while too: downtown, right outside Gaslamp.

Honestly, In-and-Out was good, but the name of the place worried me a little. They made decent burgers, but I didn’t think they were the best. There also wasn't one downdown when I lived there. I much prefered two closer places for burgers (Corvette's Diner and Galaxy Grill). Galaxy Grill had a burger called the ET burger that had peanutbutter and bacon on it (trust me, it tasted great.. althought he first time I ate one, I had to do it on a dare).
