Girl gamer here, been gaming almost 10 years now. Started out in Uo, moved on to DAOC,SB and various other games before coming here. I actually beta'd the game but then decided to not play at release because I wanted more free open pvp, ended up coming here about a month ago and I am having a great time.

Hi, I haven't read the whole thread yet...but I'm also a girl gamer from TN (Howdy neighbor!) who is also a mom. LOTRO ain't my first rodeo, though. I've been the "weird RPing chick" for about 17 years or so...ever since I recieved my first Basic D&D set for my 12th birthday (there, I just dated myself). It took a good 10 years or so before I could find a group of guys open-minded enough to let a female into their hallowed ranks of tabletop RPing, though. Did tabletop for about 10 years, and started RPing online in chats and message boards about 10 years ago. Also did a brief stint on text-based MMORPs via Gemstone III. Hubby introduced me to graphic MMORPGs via Dark Ages of Camelot when we first met...then Star Wars Galaxies, City of Heroes, Matrix Online, DDO, Lineage, and Age of Conan. LOTRO was my birthday present this year and, so far, it's my favorite out of all of them.

I'm slowly introducing (corrupting?) my three-year-old daughter to the Dark Side of gaming too. She loves to sit on my lap and watch me play. "Mommy...there's a mean orc...SHOOT HIM!"

hehe, my 3 yr old grandson watches me play and makes comments about EVERYthing he sees on the screen, my favorite is when I've defeated a monster and start to run away, "Don't forget to get the treasure Grammy!" I love how he calls it 'treasure'

Group is is the rift, taking a break before starting up the drakes. All the sudden, the guardian runs out and starts hitting the nearest drake. After we all run back in from the front entrance, the guardian gets on vent and can't apologize fast enough.

He was afk, his young daughter came in, and decided she wanted to "get the dragon." They've been playing hobbits in the Shire, so she knows the basics. Cutest part was when he let her on vent she told us we should go get the dragon. We assured her we would.

*dabs eyes* Atta girl--under 10 years of age and ready to tank the fire drakes!

Girl gamer here as well. Sorry I didn't write in this thread sooner, seems I missed some great stories.

I totally relate with the 'You're really a girl?' /shock /disbelief ... seems we're doing an awesome job at breaking the stigma of 'girl's can't game/be hardcore.. they can only socialize and fuss about cosmetic gear.'

I played LOTRO through closed beta (my first MMO), took a break and played WoW for a bit at a friends request - and hated most of that experience. But came back because LOTRO will always be my home and my favourite. Basically came for Middle Earth and realized that there was more to the game then exploring and now spend far too much time here lol.

Some of my favourite people to play with in this game are women, which is totally new to me for in WoW I played with mostly men and the few girls around seemed to be more interested in the male attention then the actual game. I have always hated the competition between some female gamers over that sort of thing, and love how little of that exists in LOTRO. Overall this is a great community, with wonderful players, and girls are kickin' butt in every element of it! :P

I helped someone with Stonecrest the lizard in the Waterworks a couple of weeks ago and they said, "Thank you, sir" on in-game voice. I replied with, "Ma'am, actually" and they started laughing and blubbering and tripping over words. It always amuses me when people find out I'm a chick.

One of the things I like about this game is that the female toons do not look like hookers and such. I think this takes away from the oogling and such in game and lets us focus on actual gameplay and making friends. Plus the maturity level, for the most part, is certainly better.

while i am not a grrl gamer..i am preparing a couple....

as some of you may know from the RL pics thread i have 2 beautiful 3.5 yr old Princesses.

when i am not questing but farming for hides or doing deeds..etc...i will let them "help" me kill mobs.

not only are they learning to play a great game like lotro...it is also helping them learn their numbers/letters.

they will each sit on a knee and take turns killing stuff as i call out numbers/letters for them to push...it really makes the grind go so much easier.

i also never get tired of their squeals of delight as they down something and we loot it...

LOL! It's so true! I am not sure if Marge is happy with that or not :P It is one of the common jokes that gets tossed around in gooc from time to time.

eh..i know the player behind marge is a guy...but i dont care...LOL

i keep things simple and just interact with folks based on their toons gender/race..it doesnt really matter to me what they are in RL.
