Got the same feeling from Lothlorien when they let me in without filling me full of arrows! I hit 60 about the same time.

Yeah. I also remember the heart wrenching discovery that it took 1,000 silver to make 1 gold, rather than the 100 that I had previously thought. Heh.

-When the old Elven Soldier's armor was the best in the game.
-My first time into Bree when I found the cat lady's house.
-The epic journey from Celondim to Rivendell as a level 9, and the adventures I had along the way.
-After the Volume 1 book 1 chapter 1 instance, it would port you to Lenglinn's camp instead of the Prancing Pony, and you had to run all the way back. (The camp is still there to this day I think.)
-When I thought the book 1 Othrongoth instance was Great Barrows. And how shocked I was to find out how big the place actually was.

It's still used later in book 1.

    LOL!

    Exactly, same here.

I got all hyped when I had 99 silver, and was getting ready to sell some vendor trash that would surely give me my first gold.

    101s?

    a hundred and one silver?!

    But that means....awwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

    I remember...

-When Lord of the Rings Online was Middle-Earth Online
-When MAWorking and Morthoron ruled the forums
    -When footsie demolished anti-lore kinships
-When the "Elves of Imladirs" had about 10,000 posts in their kinship threads
    -Thingol's Kinship map
-When I used to post here frequently
    - Making my first post SIX YEARS ago (Man, it's been a while)
-Spending hours upon hours of my teenage years here
-"One donut to rule then all"
-Absolutely amazing roleplays in the roleplaying section, and the creation of HARP
    -Being apart of a kinship
-People freaking out when RoTK was released into theatres

As far as in game stuff, I only recently have gotten out of school and started my job, so I haven't been playing the game as near as long as I've been apart of the community. Right now, I'm a level 25 hunter, and I remember...

    -My first time in Bree
-Taking screen caps of myself on weathertop
    -Dancing with Tom Bombadil
    -Trekking through Bree-Land
    -Killing my first Orc

    More to come though!

Aye, indeed, haha. It's good to see someone from the old days. The old MEO community was something special. Hard to believe that so many years have gone by.

Right? I know exactly how you feel. Do you remem- oh wait:

    I remember...

    - Hearing the game music for the first time, downloading it, and putting on my just-purchased iPod.
    - Buying a new PC just so I would be able to play MEO when it released.

As did I. Very, very fun. Waiting for the game was almost as fun as playing it. The community was thriving with awesome, intelligent people that really shared a passion for Lord of the Rings. When I was a member at a younger age, I think that was what drew me in.

Sorry for the double post, but I just remembered that thread EP made asking the community members advice on her crush. Really turned into a memorable threat to be honest. I gave her some probobly hopeless advice, but it was still tons better than some of the other stuff that was given in that thread. Funny stuff.

-I remember getting my Closed Beta Invite and immediately running around the house going "YES! YES! YES!!!"
-I remember making an LM and wondering why i couldnt get any of my attacks to work and why i kept dying so often.
-I remember making a guard and outfitting him with the vendor armour because it was awsome!
-I remember when killing Sambrog was a feat worthy of a notice in /glff and all other bree-land channels
-I remember when i figured out that you could have multiple rows of buttons... (LotRO was my first MMO)
-I remember the End of the World Party, and almost crying afterwards because i knew it would never be the same
-I remember when we would actually see +DevCharacter walking around instead of just seeing them in our chat boxes...
-I remember when you knew everyone on your server, and everyone knew you.
-I remember being furious at my parents when they wouldnt let me buy a subscription to LotRO before i lost all of my hard earned (pre release) characters.
-I remember helping my GF get through bree-land and being so depressed that they nerfed everything.
-I remember when getting to lvl 20 without dying was an amazing thing and was worthy of great celebration.
-I remember when everyone in LotRO was a lore-nut and would get mad if somthing didnt fit into the lore.
-I remember getting to Rivendell at lvl 8 on my guard and almost fainting at the sight of it (partly because of the adrenaline from running past the purple enemies and partly because of the beauty of Riv)
-I remember grabbing my LotR books and going through every step of Frodo's Journey to make sure everything was exactly as it was in the books and being amazed by the accuracy!

    i miss the old days...

    Talking Re: I Remember When...

Oh man, so many memories, lets try and dig these out.

~ I remember making my way to Rivendell at rank 8 (just like kenyamk)

~ I remember finding out I had gotten into the closed beta testing while I was at school and yelling "[insert f word] YEAH!!!! :O"

~ I remember when there was no map for the Old Forest and it took lots and LOTS of trips to memorize the layout.

~ I remember when the level cap was 15 and the Great Barrows was the place to be. Despite the fact that those quests are level 18 to 21 quests the Great Barrows MADE great players.
You couldn't do the GB quests without great teamwork and a decent leader. There was also always at least 2 groups running it at any given time.

~I remember the Ettenmoors before any freeps ever entered it.
~I also remember the day we saw our first freep (level 41 i think he was) and epic chase that ensued across the length of the moors map that involved no less than 10 creeps

~I remember when freeps came to the moors to gather resources and when the frozen river to Isendeep was actually a GREAT ambush spot.

~I remember the non-stop feeling during the year leading up to the closed betas, a feeling equal to that of being a kid who's on vacation to Disney-World and see's the park for the first time out the car window.
Yeah that feeling for a whole year, week by week as updates come in about game development progress.

~I remember getting banned from my school library for a week because I was on these LOTRO forums reading about pipeweed and a special pipe you can/could get. The librarian, who monitored all the computers via her computer, took a screen shot and logged me off my computer remotely. When I went to the desk to ask *** just happened she showed me the screen shot and I found myself trying to explain to her what pipeweed is and its relation to LOTR and Tolkien.

...those are just some of many memories. I'll share more later ^_^

    Re: I Remember When...

I remember when I started out on a trial account and EVERYTHING in the game was so incredibly cool. I died a lot but I didn't care, it was so cool to be in Middle-Earth.

It was then, while on my first character, a Guardian, grouping with Rune-keepers that that was the class for me. The cool zap-zap sounds they used to have let you know there was a RK nearby. Their sigils of healing were sooo coool!!! I loved having them around.

But more than that, I loved being there in Ered Luin being a dwarf and killing goblins. My love affair with Ered Luin lasted a very long time until I finally gave in and admitted that Bree-land was easier and quicker. I was so elated, in fact, when they revamped Ered Luin to make it more lowbie-friendly.

My wife was leveling an elf recently in the revamped Ered Luin level 1-7 starting zone and commented, "Isn't that the aurochs that killed you on your guardian over a year ago? He sure was easy to kill just now."

It is still fun to hang out with friends, take in the sights, and play music on my lute. But I sincerely miss that feeling of wonder I had starting out. Now all I can think about is "I gotta run SG a few more times" "I hope ____ drops this time" "I gotta do more skirmishes".

I remember going into the Old Forest for the first time and thinking, "Holy ____, you can attack the trees??? I'm not going anywhere near those trees! It says Elite!" Then there was the day I realized I could get to Tom Bombadil's house via the Barrow Downs instead of through the Old Forest maze and I was elated.

I remember saying goodbye to many good friends in this game because they were tired of the lack of updates and were quitting the game. I remember never getting a chance to say goodbye to friends who quit with no notice. I still remember most of their names, too. I remember Twidge, my old dwarf questing buddy who disappeared right before I founded my dwarf-charter kinship. I remember Ferrante, a great guy who would craft the fruitiest looking armor for me because my gear sucked, but quit for Aion while I was on hiatus. I remember some friends who still play on and off but we've lost contact somehow.

I remember having to leave the game for 7 months, then watching the kinship I had built fall apart; I remember coming back and rebuilding it.

I remember enjoying Monster Play and loving raiding with the tribe I joined. I remember players from other servers rolling creeps on my server and completely ruining PvMP. I remember spending countless mindnumbing hours gearing out my RK so I could help the losing side, and finding myself not having fun anymore.

I hope the new changes to the game make it fun again. If not, it may be time to say goodbye to the wonderful world Turbine originally created.

I have memories very similar my friend, but don't give up. Hang in therer. Be like an elf and honor the days of old while swallowing your pain and sadness.
I'll be in LOTRO to the very end because ever since I was 9 and reading the LOTR books I dreamed of there being an MMORPG in the LOTR world.
