ppl that achieve this type of rating play very cautiously .... not all out .

According to Timmyloo's definition, I play "balls to the wall," and have close to 5 stars. I kill as many creeps as I can to the "brink of death," but I don't get killed. Thus, it can be done.

Cautiously can be the same as "balls to the wall." They are both relative terms. Relative to the class involved. Relative to the opponents involved. Etc, etc.

Stars come and go, and this is coming from a starhugger.


So let's say I'm sitting a 4 stars. Often, dying to a zerg will take away a good -70-150 rating, depending on the rating of the zerglings. Anyway, 2-3 deaths and I'm sub 3. Does that mean I'm a bad player? I have a 45 k/d.. I don't let creeps/freeps feed me. I fail to see the logic in your comment. I'm not arguing with you Khwarz, because I do believe that the better players(at least by my standards) Don't feed their enemies. I make it my goal to say no to feeding. PvP>Stars>Rank imo. Back on topic, what's your reasoning behind this? (Oh and I do believe a lot of non star hugging players are better than the huggers)

i have 1000-1200 rating and i can take anyone 1 on 1 freep or creep i just play balls to the walls, while others rather run around ganking solo creeps and camping rezs till they get a group with their friends because everyone else sucks in their book. Stars are for noobs who think it actually means they're better then someone when they often aren't.

So many mistruths, misconceptions, and basic ignorance up in this thar thread.

There is no doubt that a player's rating, rank, or playstyle does not indicate how skilled the player is. I don't think anyone has really suggested this. However, a swing to death playstyle isn't any more efficient or admirable than a swing to kill and leave playstyle nor does it mean one player who swings to death is naturally more skilled than a player who opts to kill and not be killed.

I've seen MORE bad players at 5 stars than I have at 1-2 stars.

Oh and Ridduk, quite true, those guys may be star huggers which doesn't necessarily mean they're good players, but they do have a "5 star rating" at pressing alt-f4.

A lot of it just depends on how high (or low) you make your standards of what is a good player, and what is a bad player. Or what is a great player.

Some of the best players in the game are huggers, some are the worst. Some of the best players in the game never get above 1200 rating, and some are the worst.
