I dont have any facebook friends who play lotro... most of them would just get annoyed by all the updates this would give me
Really though, this just seems a bit pointless. facebook already has way to much game-related spam from all the various apps.

I've given my friends so much s**t about their g*d*mn farmville and mafia updates all over my feed there's no way i can subject them to the same.
but I'm just a grumpy old dude, I'm sure it's great for some players.

My first raid idea.
The Third
The Second (Technically the third, but the real second one I have disowned!)
The idea is good but I don't see much use out of this implementation. Updates the status? That would get obnoxious quickly.
It would be better to have a little self contained app that can sit on the side of the wall to give updates.
What SHOULD be done is basically this but in an API. Give us an easy way to get updates and let it be kin accessible. That is, I should be able to have a kin website that I can go to and see the MotD as well as who in my kin is logged in, and their latest deeds. Including character info would be a huge plus (like data.lotro.com but with a much better update time).
I know that the privacy concern is there... but if you give people proper permissions options on their my.lotro page then privacy can still be observed.
Do this and I will love you forever.

After a quick review, this is not something I plan to put on my Facebook page.
- I don't think my friends would be sincerely interested in it.
- My LOTRO time is sometimes my private time.
I was flabbergasted when I saw the announcement. I can't wait to put it on my FB feed! Lots of my friends play another annoying constantly updating games, and I hide their updates. They can hide mine just as easily!
Alternately, another possible response:
OMG! Why is Turbine wasting time making Facebook apps and not adding content to the game?!?! All we get are skirmishes and new website gadgets!11!!!elevensies!! FAIL, TURBINE!!!

Arda Shrugged : Elendilmir (RIP) -> Arkenstone -> Anor (RIP) -> Landroval -> Treebeard
I like the concept, but would like it tailored down myself. All I would need is a way to let people know I'm online. Status updates seems overkill... Is there a way to configure it to allow only certain types of updates?

I love the idea. And hey, free advertising for LOTRO on a very high traffic website.

Hehehe....I might just have to try this out. Fight spam with spam, you know? Besides, there are a bunch of people on my "friends" list who I barely even know. How they found me and felt compelled to send me a friend request is beyond me. Like people I haven't spoken to since 7th grade...and I wasn't even friends with back then. /shrug They spam me with their "news" about their kids throwing up all over the living room and how awful their jobs are...not to mention all the regular FB stuff.
Time to make them regret they ever knew me....whahahahahahaha!!

Not currently, sorry. You can select which events for which types of characters get posted in the feed but that is all.
To note, the status update is per play session at least - not each time you log in and out of a character. Only when you've logged off all characters for at least 10 minutes, or the first time you log on, will it update.
I think this is a SUPERB IDEA!!! This will help Turbine advertise themselves using our Facebook accounts. Incredible idea.
Rank 10 Hunter, Rank 9 Warleader, Rank 9 Weaver, Rank 7 Reaver, Rank 6 Guardian, Rank 6 Warg, Rank 5 Lore-master, Rank 5 Blackarrow, Rank 4 Champion, Rank 3 Reaver, Rank 2 Rune-keeper, just to name a few.
If you're curious but don't want to enter your 'precious log in' info, as some have said, here's a screen of the configuration page. Just ignore the names with only the first letter, I edited them out.
While this is a neat concept because I occasionally let people know when I level, I would rather do like my friend does with his Twitter and be able to update whatever I want from within the game. He wrote his own program, though.

I love the idea and I love playing LOTRO so I am not ashamed that the world knows.
But... I am blocked in a constant loop of "redirect" and can not use the app(I have tried with IE and Firefox with the same result, blank page). This happens after introducing my forum login information.
OK, I'm plugged in. I see creeps are available for this as well. I rarely play my warg, but that could really cause me soar to new heights in anti-social behavior!![]()

As Gharet pointed out, this doesn't update your status every time you do something in game. It will update to let your friends know you are playing, and then once you have finally logged out for 10 minutes (across all characters) it will make another announcement with all you accomplished in the game.
That's a total of two announcements during your play session.
To all you peeps complaining about seeing "Farmville" and "Mafiawars" postings from your friends....you DO know you can filter those out, right? click on the "hide" button and you can hide ALL MESSAGES FROM THE ENTIRE APP FROM EVERYONE. I myself wouldn't even use FB if I couldn't do that...
Thal
PS. Giving the app a try.
I dunno, FB apps are easy to do and fairly cheap to make. That's why there's so many of them. A LotRO FB app is a great idea, I just don't think this is the right one. I'd love to bring over my characters in a box on my wall, that would be cool.
I hide EVERY app on FB because I cannot stand the updates.
And too many work people are on my FB, I wouldn't want them to necessarily know I was logged in hehe. I'm really surprised actually about the login information, since a lot of people already have complained that this is visible in the social panel.
I'm surprised Turbine doesn't do more updates on its FB page that would then roll over to my page - now that I would support. But I don't get any LotRO notices, I belong to their group or page or whatever, but there's never a notification from there.

Hmm, I like the concept of having a player feed, but not a fan of it being status updates.
I would like to see it as a box on my profile page that ties into my main my.lotro page news feed.
