It's not. It was a bug. They've already turned it off so no one else should get the mail.

I have new toons that did not exist last year on April 1, and they did not get the deed when I logged them in today. Nor do any of them have the note for the quest in the mail.

Same here. I just logged onto all of my characters on two different servers, several of which are less than a year old, and none of which have "April Observer" deed. I was very disappointed to find that none of them got this deed for logging in today, even though it is still April 1st.

I also missed last year's event (due to work), so this really bums me out.

It wasn't a joke it was an error. For some reason the quest partially enabled at midnight. The emails should not have been sent as there is nothing you can do with them. We disabled it fully once we saw what was happening. Sorry about that.

While the quest does not work on the Live Servers......The Moors Chicken Session is up and running on BR. Just wish there were more people there to take part.....

No. The in-game mail this year was last year's event. It was not turned off in time, so the mail went out at midnight even though the quest is disabled. The in-game mail is NOT this year's event.

But it seems they disabled the 'April Observer' title as well. I managed to get the title (and the mail) on my Vilya toons since I was on that server at midnight EDT, but I've not seen the title for any of my Landroval or Nimrodel toons today.

I'm fine if the letter's not sent out because the associated quest isn't working, but I'd love to be able to get the title on my other characters.

My warden got the title at 11:00 Central last night, but my hunter, which I logged on about 2 hours later didn't get the title or the mail. So I am assuming it got shut off pretty quick.

Warden also won the spring horse. Lucky gal. She is fully decked out in spring garb as well, so is gonna wear that April Observer title for a bit I guess.

But I don't see why they couldn't just have the title click in for everyone. Would be nice and make a lot of players happy...

EDIT - Turbine should replace the broken quest letter with one of those Winter Festival boxes!

It appears the joke is on us. I'm guess that the Dev's think 3 years running of no real chance of an April fool day deed/quest is STILL FUNNY...well, it ISN'T!

The event was turned of REALLY quick. I logged on at about 12:25, eastern time and it was already disabled. It was basically only gotten by those people who were actually logged on at midnight.

On the other hand, we don't actually know if there is a different April Fool's day event or not. If I were planning one, it'd definitely happen in the afternoon/evening, so that more people would have an opportunity to participate.

It's been said before that live events are not going to happen on the live servers (except for ongoing things like the seasonal quests). Anything that causes a lot of people to gather to one location in a hurry doesn't make the servers happy (or the game playable). If there was a title we were supposed to get, or a quest, we'd have it already to give the most people an opportunity.

In other words, what you see is what you're going to get.
