    Lifetime members downgraded

So correct me if I'm wrong, those of us who are founders/lifetimers, if we don't log in, we lose our VIP status? What kind of message is that?

I know a few people that's out in battlefields defending our country, who cannot log in at all, and don't have the opportunity to even get a chance to check emails, ***, talk about a kick to the groin.

Lifetimers/Founders should not be penalized for any reason, it's just wrong, they've made an investment and took a shot on this venture, only to be downgraded?

This is originally how I read it as well, but I think after further reading it it sounds like you don't lose VIP status and instead you just don't earn those 500 points for logging in at least once that month. I could be wrong.

It's a message that says, sure it's no big deal to log in to keep your status, but we're going to catch at least a few suckers who we hope to get more money from.

i didn't think that was the case i could have misinturperted this but i thought that logging in once a month is only to get the turbine points other then that nothing changes you still keep your life time sub if you don't log in you don't get the 500 for that month but your still a life time VIP

No. You don't get downgraded. It has been explained multiple times by Sapience in various posts.

The only thing the 'log in at least once a month' thing has effect on is the Back-awarding of Turbine Points from now until release of F2P. After F2P goes live then you are VIP set in stone.

    Yep, you're wrong.

Lifetime members keep their VIP status. There is a special bonus for those lifetimers, and subscribers who are actively playing the game between now and when Free-to-Play launches this fall. If you log in to the live servers and play at least once per month during that time (for any amount of time), you'll earn an additional 500 points for each month you do so up to the launch of F2P.

Hope that clears up the confusion.

I was about to reply to the OP stating something similar. I thought they'd only lose the 500 points/month.

However, I would like to take this opportunity to suggest that Lifers shouldn't be penalized just because they can't log in because, for example, they're deployed overseas and can't play online games right now. Please reconsider that decision. Thanks.

So what you're saying there is still a penalty for not logging in even as a lifetimer/founder.

This is the kind of rampant miss-informed posting that has been going on all day. Read the sticky and the few official posts. Then re-read them.

If I was a G.P. MD and giving physicals all day I would not see more knee-jerk reactions :P.

No, lifers don't lose anything. You gain. You gain even more if you log on occasionally.

After the launch of the F2P Model .. Lifetimers will earn their 500 points a month regardless of logging in or not.

The logging in thing only pertains to the few months leading up to launch ... the points for logging in are a bonus ...

Once again .... After the launch of the F2P Model .. Lifetimers will earn their 500 points a month regardless of logging in or not.

maybe they could make an account inactivity option where you that you can set up in your account designate how long you'd be gone and accrew they amount of points in that time frame without requiring a log in or something like that

That's a glass half-empty way of looking at it. Think of it as a bonus for logging in, instead.

I see the reasoning. A reward for the lifers who may be otherwise disinclined to play much this summer with no update until fall. Then again, maybe we'll get in the beta and have plenty to test and provide feedback on.

Again it points back to the question, what about the people that are not able to log in because of for whatever reason. Some people are in financial dire straits now because of the bad economy, there are people out there that has to forgo any access to the internet to save that extra $30+ a month. There are people out there that has computers blown out and can't afford to fix them or buy a new one. There are people serving overseas that cannot log on at all.

I feel bad for anyone in those circumstance that are oblivious to that's about to transpire, and they're going to get penalized for not logging in from now to launch or whenever.

If they are lifers and can't log in this summer, then they miss out on 1500 bonus points. THAT IS ALL.

No one has been downgraded and nothing has been taken away from anyone at this juncture.

That would be nice, and I believe something similar has been suggested before so deployed military with Lifetime accounts don't have their houses locked and max penalized, but so far those suggestions haven't resulted in any action on the part of Turbine. I figured it wouldn't hurt to suggest it again.

Leorick, please take a moment to read about the Loyalty reward program here:

    http://www.lotro.com/support/policies/loyaltyreward

The once a month log in only refers to the period between now and launch of F2P. You don't need to play, really, you just need to log in. Really. If you don't, you just don't get 500 FREE points being given as a reward for game loyalty for that month.

Lifetimers/Founders are actually being rewarded, not penalized. No one else. Really, read that again: NO ONE ELSE will get FREE points between now and launch. Only Founders and Lifers.

In addition, whether you log in or not, you'll get 1,000 FREE points upon launch if you're a lifer. In addition, you'll get up to 500 FREE points for each year you're been with the game, up to 1500 points.

That's a lot of reward points for the time you've already spent in the game.

Going forward, 500 points a month for lifers. Really. At no cost. Really.

Seeing as this has already been answered a few times, I think we can close it out.
