Free to Play with a monthly subscription????

Ok I read the article about the F2P release and how if you are a founder and have a monthly account in good standing you get points however it also says you have to continue to pay the monthly. Does that mean even after launch and what does that mean for lifetime members? Does it now change to a monthly plan? Also I am a founder and lifetime member since day one so do I really get 3500 points total on launch day?

Our model is really a hybrid. We let you choose how to play and/or pay for your gaming. If you keep paying your existing subscribtion you get the things you listed, plus we'll give you a set of points each month as well.

If you choose to stop paying your subscription and become a premium player (you get an automatic upgrade to premium as a former subscriber) you won't have to pay a monthly subscription, and you will retain access to anything you have previously purchased - like Moria and Mirkwood if you purchased those expansions. However you will not be getting the free points or other subscriber benefits listed in the FAQ.

Those who took advantage of our Lifetime offers, will still have full access to everything they have purchased and will earn monthly points all without having to pay any additional subscription fees.

As I read it you will not pay as a lifetime member. You will be a VIP and retain all the expansions you have purchased. The game will not change much for you beyond getting free points each month.

Also, you should get at least 5000 points as I read it. 1500 for being a member since launch, 1000 for lifetime, 500 for founder, about 2000 for logging in each month till free-to-play, and another 500 for the first month.

You have to admit that the wording Turbine has been using - in addition to other sites such as GameInformer or Massively, are contributing to the confusion.

Using words such as "Going F2P" or "Switching to a F2P model", instead of the more accurate description of "adding a F2P option", is bound to crank the paranoia up to 11, and has resulted in quite a few threads reflecting that paranoia. The average person seeing those words is going to take it to mean that the entire game is switching over to Free to play and therefore, anybody who currently has lifetime or is paying a subscription will be forced to play/pay in that fashion.

Obviously that is incorrect, but this forum has certainly paid the price for that unfortunate wording.
