im sure they all have a character but i doubt many really play regularly.

[edit] If they did we wouldnt have to wait to fall for new content(cause they would be bored of sg too). Instead if many devs played like the rest of us they would have waited to go F2P until the next full expansion imo.

I have over 40, and I play regularly. (In fact, I have impressed my boss by playing two games, including LotRO, and updating a third simultaneously, across two monitors. We like games around here.)

Silly Berephon. You'll learn soon enough that unless you have multiple level 65s, are in a hardcore raiding kinship, and know BG like the back of your hand, you simply don't count.

Wow! Judging by some of the *discussions* that come up when the wife and I group, that's gotta be an added pressure.

Question: Hey! About that raise we discussed that I was expecting?

Response: Hey! About that wipe you caused and those heals that I was expecting?

Maybe you fall into the "not many" category although, with all obviously due respect i think as the bible puts it "No one can slave for two masters; for either he will hate one and love the other or he will stick to the one and despise the other".

Point is i cant play two mmos seriously. i can piddle around on a second (mine is ddo) but i really only have time for one.

I can play 1 MMO and 1-2 Single player games at the same time. 2 MMOs is not doable.

Whereas I have no problem with it at all -- especially with the lifetime option in LOTRO. The MMO I choose to play depends on what I feel like at the time.

I also don't *live* in any game. They are a pasttime, not a life. Someone asked me once how I had time to play multiple MMOs; my answer: It doesn't take any more time to play multiple games than to just play one. It's just a matter of choice. Variety is good. It keeps one from burning out on a given game.

To me, there is no difference between playing 1 MMO and 1-2 single player games and playing 2-3 MMOs. Bear in mind, my wife, daughter, and brother play the same MMOs I do, so we kind of have our own built in group wherever we are. Keeping our teams the same level is not an issue for us.

[edit]It may also explain why I've never hit the level cap in any game yet. I did finally reach 50 in LOTRO -- but somebody moved the darn cap up by then! But endgame doesn't mean anything to me. I'm one of those "enjoy the journey" types.

I think what they are referring to is a play style. To really "play" an MMO, or in other words, do ALL the content, get the best gear, run the hardest instances etc.... well that take a certain amount of time and commitment. If your play style is leveling with a group of friends for the most part, then obviously that's a little different.

Im all for casual mmoing but by your own words you dont have a toon at lvl cap or have ever participated in the endgame so you really dont have time for multiple mmos do you? considering you have yet to experience all of what any one game has had to offer.

Im not saying you arnt entitled to play and have fun the way you want but you really are missing the point yet, proving mine at the same time.

I think where we play falls somewhere in between the styles you mention here, but I understand the point. We have teams that we keep together, depending on who is online at the time (e.g., I have characters that just solo, others that run just duo, etc.).

We probably put in as much time as those who "really 'play' an MMO", we just divide up our time a little differently. Each player's definition of "really 'play'" may vary.

And our playstyle doesn't really preclude what you describe; it'll just take us longer to get there. That's okay; it gives the game more lasting power for us and more revenue for the MMO company over time.

I have four toons at level cap. I agree with phaelan that, in this game, it's the journey that's most important. I get your point. I just don't agree with it.

Oh you would be surprised at how much time hard core people spend in game like Abraa. He is less then a year from Rank 15.

But how much you can handle total depends on how much of each you do handle.

Not at all. I haven't missed out on anything and have plenty of time for multiple MMOs. See my response to Aleczander. I think you missed the point I was trying to make to. Speed to endgame does not equate to "really" playing an MMO.

See, I want it to take time. I want the game to last and not get stale. I've never had to come to the forums and complain about lack of new things to do. By playing more than one MMO, and more than one character in each, the games stay fresh and fun.

So I do have time to play more than one MMO. I'm progressing in each game at the speed I choose to. I don't suffer "burnout" on a given game.

Reaching endgame may be the goal for you, but that doesn't make it the right way to play. With regard to your point, the only thing I've proven is that we have a different viewpoint on what playing an MMO means.

no offence but i dont think you do. the journey is important but if you play multi mmos and you have not played a game fully then you are missing out on a large portion of the journey.

level cap is just the beginning.

Who said anything about speeding to endgame? All i said was if you have not done endgame then you are not fully playing the game. I myself do not like to rush to endgame.

The more time you spend on "the jorney" the less time you have.

Not really. We're just taking a little longer to get there and continuing to enjoy ourselves along the way.

That still has nothing to do with "having time" to play multiple MMOs. That's kind of like saying I don't have time to play both Madden NFL and Battlefield 1942; like I *must* finish one before I start the other or else I'm not "really" playing either one. It's not true, for either single player games or MMOs.

ah...but this game doesnt really have a endgame...we are still on the journey to Mt Doom.

the game is not over when you reach the level cap...you are in a holding pattern doing time sinks waiting for the next chapter.

it is more like rushing to the waitingame then any sort of endgame.

endgame denotes a end of the story.

now in a game where story isnt the driving force i can see it called the endgame...but not here.

    +1

It would be great for the Archet tutorial to last just a bit longer.

True, the quest sequences east of Bree are easier than they once were (through it might be experience making it seem so), still, I recall the first character I rolled in LOTRO was terrifically hard to play after I left Archet -- everything seemed so dangerous and failure-prone!
