It depends on what you are looking for. Brandywine, Landroval, and Elindilmir are the most populated (high population) all others are medium. Landroval is the unofficial RP server. The new servers will have the most people at your level (since from the sounds of it there are no transfers).

So will I have to re-download the client? To be more specific will live be a different client from beta and the current live one?

Yes. They are completely different clients. Go here to download it.

ETA: I misunderstood too. Sorry about that. If you have the live client installed already, then no, you're good to go. You just have to patch up.

Brandywine is far and away the largest server.

Landroval is second, and is the unofficial RP server, so many events like Ales and Tales or Weatherstock are held there.

Elendilmir is third and home to a healthy PvMP community.

The rest are vastly smaller, but each has their own communal theme. Like being the Jewelled Bell.

No, you'll just need to update your current Live client.

Actually, I read it. Just didn't understand it as you meant it. I thought you had a Beta version Only.

No I'm happy on Vilya. I just did not understand the information about new servers. Make more sense to me now that I have read through other posts. I'll be staying put on Vilya and enjoying the new area. Hope to see you all there. Thanks.

Just to be sure it's clear, there are two clients you need to be concerned about. The current Bullroarer client that you've been testing and the Live client which you probably don't have if you're totally new to LotRO and have only played on Bullroarer.

Now would be a good time to get the Live client downloaded and patched. When the Live servers come back up after their downtime on Sept. 7th, you should be able to download the newest patch for the Live client in order to access the Live game when it opens to all of the new players on Sept. 10th.

Then you're probably good to go if you downloaded that client within the last 6 months or so. You'll just have to patch up the brand new stuff like everyone else.

On September 8th, just launch the Live client like you normally would, and the client will automatically update itself. You will not have to download a new client.

Because the whole point of headstart is to get in and past the intro areas early to bypass the rush. If we're trying to form a kinship with friends from different servers, or even just choose a server for lots of friends from different servers to play on, we can't do that until we know the names. Once we know the names, there will undoubtedly be a period of debate about which server to use, like there was for SoA launch. So no, if we don't find out the server names until 9/8, the headstart is pointless for that purpose. I just don't see why they can't be announced a few days early so that these discussions can take place.

Yep! You guys made it. The new servers are all named according to how the community voted.

Sap said we'll know the names the day of the head-start. Truth be told, this is wise. It gives established folks time to settle-in, populate the servers, and by not naming them publicly, it leaves true Newbies guessing, and thus, spreading to the new servers.

Those who read, do their homework, will find their ways to happy places like Landy and others.

AH! So if we go by the top 2-3 names in the poll, we should have a reasonable idea of what they will be?

EDIT: But the poll is gone!

It would not be unreasonable to use the rankings of the poll, no. After all, that's what we did.

Question. I thought that you had to purchase a quest pack in the LOTRO store for the new content? Has that changed, or will those quests be locked until the store release?

The poll wasn't in beta. It's still linked in the Announcements section of the main forums, but it's been archived, so it's no longer public. What a big help!

Sorry about that. Forgot it was moved to make sure no one else voted at the end of the voting period. I'll see about getting the full list of names that were up for vote, in order of most votes to least, published in this thread.

According to the Google cache, this is how the voting went down as of July 21st:

    Crickhollow 350 14.09%
    Calembel 62 2.50%
    Dwarrowdelf 242 9.74%
    Hornburg 132 5.31%
    Imladris 263 10.59%
    Ithilien 194 7.81%
    Osgiliath 198 7.97%
    Orodruin 47 1.89%
    Pelennor 228 9.18%
    Riddermark 439 17.67%
    Redhorn 147 5.92%
    Tookland 129 5.19%
    Zirak-zaen 53 2.13%

Things may have changed before the poll was closed, but I imagine the final vote totals didn't look much different.
