Forum Signature

Is anybody else having a problem with their forum signature not updateing? My character is now level 33 and it is only showing level 31. Just wondering if their might be something wrong with the linking of the forum to the actual game that they had in the past.

That is correct. Ahh well, I guess it is just apart of the update.

I haven't noticed it not updating, but it sure did take me a long time to figure out where to go to create a new sig with the new community board. Hopefully that will be made a little more user friendly!!

Edit: now when I set up a sig, It will not let me preview or attach to a post. Anyone got any suggestions?

Same here. The sig is falling behind level wise.

Hmmm, now it's not even showing my signature at all. And yes, i have checked the "show signature" checkbox.

I'm still trying to find out how to change my signature and avatar. Under the old system it was easy enough to find, it's well hidden in the "new improved" forums.

I can't even create a signature. It keeps saying no recent information for your characters is available.

I have the same issue. Go to My Preferences at the top, choose My Forum Settings and Edit Signature. I choose my character, select an icon, save, and nothing shows up in any post.

I just tried typing "Test Signature" in the text box and it shows up. I try to load the link for my character signature in a browser and nothing shows up. I can load the character signatures of the two posters in this thread that have theirs showing.

The processes that update the data behind your sigs were initially off during the roll-out of F2P and the re-launch of the community sites. We are in the process of bringing them back up, but it will take some time for them to catch up.

This explains why my character link isn't working, but will our 'missing avatar' problems be remedied when it comes back up as well? Thanks for the info.

I can't imagine the number of deeds/quests completed (Rep deeds ), levels gained, characters created, etc. that will be caught up. That's a lot of data

I believe that is a separate issue we are looking into. Catching up on the data will likely not do anything for your avatar.

Wow ! So funny you would say that. I use another system for my signature outside of Turbine's and it works great, even with F2P rollout... Want to check it out ? here it is :

Since it is working, I thought "Hey maybe I could use this signature on my LOTRO forum account..." But Turbine decided to use their signature only... The forums is already slow as it is, if you were allowing external signature, maybe that would speed up a bit

But I might be wrong and maybe you allow it and it that case, please excuse me... But tells us how to do it.

I think it is limited to Turbine's character sigs in order to avoid any issues with people uploading any image they want as their signature.

I don't know if Free accounts get access to these character signatures, but it appears they aren't working just yet, will wait until they are working correctly! At least the new servers are on the server list now.

No, custom sigs aren't allowed here - and until the update, custom avatars weren't either.

The reason why external sigs still work, is that they make use of the data.lotro.com api, which uses a completely different system than the signatures. Mainly because there's a significant period of time between when

1) Signatures were available

2) My.lotro.com became available

and

3 Data.lotro.com became available.

As far as I know, all three use different methods of getting data, so any one of those features may not work, but the remaining will.

What's really odd is that my character sig was working for the first few days of the new forum. The last few it hasn't been. The code is in my signature unchanged but it pulls up nothing now.

If I go to the My Preferences/ My Forums Settings/ Signatures I have a list of characters I can click on, but clicking on any of them pulls up an avatar and a big blank space underneath them. No sigs for any of them. It'll have code in the box to copy and paste, but it doesn't work. Still comes up blank.

Not sure what's going on with it, but there's a break somewhere along the way.

Don't know if you rolled out the fix or not yet, but it looks like it's working again. Thanks for all of the hard work y'all are doing. I know it's a bunch, and we do appreciate all that you're putting into it.

On a partly related note: I cant seem to make a signature at all.

When I got to My preferences, the whole option 'my forum settings' is missing, let alone the part to set a signature. Under general settings, all options for showing signatures are enabled.

It might be because Im F2P. Im playing on the EU servers, but I registered here because you guys have a way more usefull forum with more info. Anyway, that might have something to do with it. But I have seen other people from the EU who were actually able to put text in their signatures...

Anyone has any ideas? I dont want a signature with my character, just being able to put text in it.
