After using the vault for a bit and finding that we have 10 bags plus a main bag, and are only limited by the number of spaces we have, I'm actually liking the new vault better now.
I have put all of my crafting stuff in separate bags (one for each aspect - ie. ore, wood, and crafted mats). I also put all of my armor in one bag, pots and what not in another, and all of the miscellaneous items in the last bag. I even have several bags left over.
And with the changes coming, that will make things even easier to find.
So, even though I didn't like it before, I am liking it now.![]()
ya know i was also very meticulous in how i arranged my crafters vaults in the old system.
i find the new system with filters soo much more convenient.
say i need a one shot t5 recipe...dont have to remember what color they are...nor do i have to mouse over every t5 to find the one i want.
now i just open vault....select t5 recipes of the craft i want...and since they are all listed alphabetically i can find the one i want much faster.
any crafting resources or components are also just a clik away.
i dont have to see everything thats in my vault all at once because as a meticulous crafter i know at any given time what any of my crafters have on person or in vault.
so for me...this new vault..while it took me a bit to get used to...is turning out to be a big time saver for me.
and the upcoming 'improvements' look to make it even more so.

Single most common comment by players in the beta ;^)
There are some people who will always hate the new version. And they have my sympathy.
There are some people who hated the old version and like/love the new version. I count myself in that group.
And then there are the two largest groups:
Those who hated/disliked the new system when they saw it, but got used to it.
Those who hated/disliked the new system when they saw it, but started to really like it once they saw the advantages.

Towards the end of beta the majority of posts on the thread consisted of the last two types....
Dwarf Guardian, Hobbit Hunter 65; Elf Rune-keeper 55; Elf Hunter 49; others 7 to 36.
Two of each class; 3+ of each of the ones I like; 8 x KSM and counting....
Asheron's Call'99, Dark Age of Camp-a-lot'01, Everquest II'04, Vanguard'07, (M)Age of Conan'08, Lord of the Rings Online'09, Rift'11.

Perhaps, but there were an awful lot of "I hated it at first, but now that I've gotten used to it, I like it" posts during the last two weeks of beta.
Give it another month or so and we'll be seeing those posts here on live, as well, is my guess. Elderban is just on the leading edge of the wave (to mix a metaphor).

Hate it the first day. Netural the second. Loved it ever since. It's a great improvement when you get used to it.

Hated it the first day of beta, and the last, and still hate it compared to using my own organization. I use it, though, and it's not a game breaker for me.
Tuco of the Quick Post
I'm sure there will be. But, as Tuco said, those of us who still don't like it mostly don't keep pointing it out every few days. We've made out point heard, read about the upcoming changes, and see little point in restating our opinion regularly.
Should all of us mirror Tuco's post just above here?
I hated it in Beta. I can live with it in its current form, but no amount of "getting used to it" will ever make me like it the way it stands now. When / IF Ransroth's announced changes make it to live, it'll be a good bit closer to being better than the old vault. But until I get sorting by both level & tier or manual sorting, I MUCH prefer the old vault. None of the new improvements make up for that.

The shared storage purchase works across the account.
I expanded my shared storage from the 20 I started with, to 50. I purchased this on Crickhollow where I don't have the funds and resources I do on Nimrodel so that my character could share stuff easily and I could cut down on mailing fees. The purchase helped me take a whole new approach to crafting material and storage management. In short it's working great for me.
I logged on to Nimrodel last night to say hello to a guildie. I did a little inventory management while I was there and found my shared storage was also expanded to 50 on that server as well. I was so surprised and happy. It's the best purchase I've made so far.
I really hope the coming improvements to the personal vault are also applied to the shared storage vault space.
Centuries ago, in primitive times, before the dawn of civilization, there were things that would be inconceivable to us today; such things as poverty, disease, violence, senility, and love.
good for you =p
Here it is, the more than one click to even see stuff.now i just open vault....select t5 recipes of the craft i want...and since they are all listed alphabetically i can find the one i want much faster.

I had each tier in a chest, for instance jewerly:
main chest on left by the mini chests:
scrolls
chest 1
ingot
gem
gem
chest 2
crit item
shard
journal
chest 1 and 2 were vertically aligned, so it was right click open right click to get out of bank x6 and done.
1.3 sec max.
Now try it with new, it and it takes at least 8 seconds or more to get shards and journals, then the ingredients, then find my scrolls. Sure I put them all for each tier in one bag but then where are my scrolls? They can't be in every bag gah.
Not sure how anyone can say this new system is faster than that set up there. Even returning items to bank you have to drag it, only now you don't have to aim for a little slot. If thats too hard, how do you play anyways?
I hope this becomes better for crafting setup.

Overall it isn't just the vault design, it's the store, the community, the forums, this is a usability nightmare. 5-8 clicks to do things is amatuer.
This was sorta a question I've had for all the people who found the old vault soooo terribly difficult to find stuff in. If you couldn't organize your vault and then remember where stuff was, how do you possibly remember what your skills do in order to actually play the game? Do you just randomly drop them onto toolbars and then hover over them during combat to figure out what you want to use?

I can tell you at least one way the new is better for me than the old. Not that this would be an issue for everyone, but to my colorblind eyes the icons for many items looked the same. Ingots and recipes were often the worst, especially before some of the new icons were put in a year or so back.
I would often have two non-full stacks of the same item and have no clue without hovering over them to see that, oh it isn't silver, it is tin!
I got used to using the vault and just being careful in my arrangements, but I'd still have to do the pause-n-hover more often than I'd have liked. With the new, I can instead drag-n-drop and know that items will stack on their own. That I will be able to sort the recipe tiers without needing to stare at that little dot wondering if it is blue, purple, teal, or fuchsia.
People will all have their own way of doing things, their own likes and dislikes. I'm not going to tell anyone that they should like the new vault if they don't. I am happy with it, though, and look forward to all the improvements coming in the future.
Yes, the shared storage is the best value so far in purchasing additional storage. I really like the wardrobe too. I am waiting on the patch 1 changes to the vault, hoping that it will make it more user friendly for me. I still would like to see manual sorting and being able to view the entire contents of my vault at once, but hopefully with the changes coming up, I can live with the vault a little better than I have been.

The new vault system needs work. Period.
Yes, we who would like changes to the system know how to use the vault. We probably know how to use it better than you all simply because we've been over every aspect of it looking for the kind of functionality we had before. We're just not finding an acceptable level of customization.
I guess those that can't understand our frustrations would like the world to be a simpler place.
Like going to Amazon and wanting to buy a new book. Great! We have a brand new section at Amazon called Chest #1 - Books. There ya go! Find your book.
Oh, there's thousands of titles, you say, and you don't want to scroll down them all looking for a specific one? You mean, sorting by alphabet isn't helpful since thousands of those tens of thousands of books start with the letter A? Huh.
I don't get it - you want subcategories within the broader category of Chest #1? Why? Chest #1 is so...simple.
Fiction, non-fiction. Biography, romance, sci-fi...This isn't rocket surgery, ya'll.
Surely it's obvious why we would like the new vault system to be more customizable than it is now.

Please God NO. Keep this travesty of a vault the hell away from our housing chests and our personal bags. The vault being unusable is bad enough. Don't ruin the other aspects of the game in the same way. Thanks.

I've been back for about a week and at the beginning I was so hoping to get used to it. But it's terrible and needs to be changed.
I like and prefer the idea of seeing everything at once, this is great. But I'd like to open my vault and see separate divisions. Using the drop down to choose a catagory is just a pita and terrible design.
