It's hard as hell to catch Leekae without Jaiyne jumping in...
I curse you Arrival! (in the nicest way possible creeps can)
I tried and tried and tried (4 or 5 consecutive fights I think) to take advantage of what I thought was Warden's weakeness, but I was wrong. I guess if I ever hit rank 6 on my warg and get access to a better pots would help, or maybe using the evade or armor pots from the delving, but nah, (I'm tired of grinding/farming), but still, between his heal and power pots, his regen and that skill he can use when low morale to get power back, it was impossible for me to do enough dps before he could recover. I seemed to be able to get him down to 1500 - 1300 morale before my rank 5 warg died, but I got a feeling he still had some tricks under his sleeve.
At least I know you didn't choose that class just because it was strong for PvMP.
btw, next time you see me, I'll make sure to bring backup as I know I cannot kill you solo.
(too bad my Hight rank creep is too weak and has too many disadvantages for 1vs1)

That is absolutely false. Most creeps that I do fight 1:1 - and there are lots (although any reaver who DR's away from 1 or 2 freeps fails by definition, so I am not counting that one in particular) - would tell you differently. In fact, most often if I see that it is an actual 1:1 and we happen to be duo'ing, I just back up so he can have his fight.
Most often it doesn't stay a 1:1, so you can expect me to jump in, every single time in those instances. Very happily in fact.
I've also been away for a week. Maybe my toon is just that OP that she can "jump in" when on travel in Florida, lol.

You were relentless and I give you tons of respect for that. You didn't give up and you nearly got me a couple times. It was nice we really had little to no npc interference either. Those 5 fights were memorable for sure. Keep at it and you'll get me one day. :P
One trick I didn't have up my sleeve today was morale potsI think I used my only 4 or 5 power pots though.
Thanks for this comment.
As much as I hate to say this, I don't blame :P
Really though good 1v1's for sure, thank you.

Arrival <Guardians of the Dagorlad> - Retired
Warden on the Landroval Server
"I kill these kids like an abortion then go sport fishin"
I haven't been in the moors for a good amount of time; this isn't something that occurred recently, but I've never successfully had a 1vs1 with Leekae. I haven't had one with you either, but, as a Reaver I'm looking for lone Champions mostly, as I find those duels the most satisfying.
If you usually don't jump in, that's great. Everytime I catch Leekae away from the action, you're with him, so I've always refrained from engaging. So, I was wrong in saying you always jump in, as it's never happened. I get very uncomfortable when I know there's someone else around, regardless of what side their on, because I really love a good 1vs1 without any interference, and people always tend to get greedy and wreck the fight.
Fair enough. We are most often in just a duo, and we are also a couple and play in the same house together, so if we're both playing in the Moors, we're of course going to be grouped. But if it's an actual 1:1 - and this is tough to judge sometimes, particularly with creeps we are not familiar with - I generally step back if the creep engages him and not me first (and generally the other way around if the creep engages me first). Again, sort of hard to judge but we generally know which creeps like the 1v1s (or small fights) and which will do call-ins, or run for help/bait, etc. Not always, but often.
All I can advise is to give it a try next time you see us both away from the other action. If there are others in the area, or we're not just in a duo, it probably won't happen like that.
Lee and I both solo regularly, so it's actually very possible to catch him (or me) completely ungrouped these days, but rarely in primetime (evenings EST).
Cheers!

Great fight Lalgo!
When you got your Lay of the Hammerhand off with 200 morale I thought I was toast, especially after my disappear and pounce failed to interrupt it. Certainly got my heart pumping and I think I survived with less than 150 morale. /Cheers

The main reason is that Champions can do pretty well, regardless of skill level. There's a lot of Champions out there that put up a good fight, even the ones that will admit that they're not that great. There's also a good handful of them that run solo, so it's easy to get a satisfying duel with a Champ. I've actually lost the vast majority of my duels with Champs, but they're always incredibly close matches.
Hunters on the other hand... it's a lot harder to find a good fight with. I usually gobble them up so easily that I'm simply left disappointed, and I'm not trying to brag. Poorly played hunters are dead meat.
Same with Rune-Keepers, although to a lesser extent. RK's that don't know what they're doing can still lay down some damage while you're chopping the crud out of them. However, if you're not a Rank 9+ Reaver and you face a RK that knows how to kite, you might as well give up, because they will never let you touch them. If you've got Dying Rage, you can take them out, but you'll be defeated as well.
I don't enjoy 1vs1's with Burgs because of the amount of stuns and slows and mezzes and... yuck. They're just not fun to fight, and because of HIPS, you'll rarely kill one in a 1vs1 unless they're a good sport.
As for Guards, the best thing you can do is come to the fight already lubed up and bend over to make it easier on yourself. There's nothing you can do. I always try anyways, however.
I've never fought a Warden in a 1vs1, although I don't think it'd be particularly enjoyable, and can't say I've had any good fights with a Minstrel. Captains can put up a good fight, but finding a Captain alone is tough.
With all this said however, I would disagree on Champions being the easiest.

My argument is about a specific situation, I'm saying that beating a good champion is easier than beating a good hunter.
I know that good hunters are very few.
I know that an average champion is harder than an average hunter.
However, a hunter who knows what they're doing should be able to kite you well enough that you hardly get any hits on them, whereas you would have burned through a decent amount of morale fighting a champion.
Good kiting RKs on the other hand... they're impossible to beat as a reaver, unless the reaver gets really lucky with crits in the very short Dying Rage opportunity.

Last night Toothless got his revenge downing me. However, it was an epic fight, one of the best I've been in literally months.
He downed me and a split second later my bleed killed him not two feet from me.
Nice one toothless!

Guardian 1v1s with my reaver have been the most enjoyable for me (Uhtredson, Bobadis, Frotswa...).
They're very difficult if 1) they know what they're doing and 2) they can turtle. They will very often outlast you in both morale and power due to their regeneration and B/P/E.
Demonizer is the only hunter that has come close to that description, in my experience. He was a fun, challenging 1v1 the one time he got a jump on me from stealth on my reaver.
Felrotten can be challenging. He got the jump on me once and kited me to oblivion -- fun, but frustrating 1v1.
(Of course, the trick for most classes vs. reavers is getting the first strike.)

This could only happen if the creep being kited doesn't know much about hunters. Really is not as effective as people make it sound. I have yet to see Hunter doing just this and kill me on my reaver, and I've fought against all those good hunters (post Moria) that have been mentioned on this forum.
It is only when the Hunter attacks by surprise (from stealth) and does a good amount of damage from the time his target notices him and tries to get close that a hunter can finish him off by doing that. Also if there happen to be trees or rocks nearby, hunter won't be able to do much damage at the begining, reducing his chances to win the fight.
If anybody wants to test how effective just slowing and kiting is for a hunter to win a fight, please let me know.

/Salute Drebo.
I think I had you down under 500 morale a couple of times, yet you somehow recovered and wore me out.
And Kynji, I think any fight where both parties die at the same time can be labeled a great 1v1.![]()

Thanks to Mawz for the (attempted) 1v1s. I am still having major connection issues as Comcast hasn't yet fixed our issue, so it's a crapshoot to be out there atm. When I un-lagged, I was very low and close to fully disconnecting. I did actually get booted from the server just as the fight was ending
Then tried again, and I think I got to hit you twice before I went LD againI understand you killing me anyway while I was lagged out.
One thing is for sure, you are one of those reavers I really need bubble up for. Especially when I can't stay connected! /salute

Some /salutes are in order for several freeps last night who found themselves 1 v 3'd and 2 v 3'd by our spider group. It was a night that by and large (with freeps having TR and rolling around in mostly large groups) that was not conducive overmuch to soloing, but there were still a few freeps trying to have some fights outside the zerg.
Off the top of my head, /salute to Hopperleaf and Aspidas for repeatedly staying and fighting, and being tough to kill, and salute to Eoblod and Rashka for that 2 v 3 on the TR ramp. And, as always, much respect for Arrival ... there was a fight near TR HS that began with himself and two others ... one died, and the other ran, but Arrival, beast that he is, stayed and took on all three of us (a rank 6 spider, and two rank 4s) and killed one and had another of us near death before a burg jumped in and between them finished us off.
Little fights like this across the map with tough freeps are my favorite times. Cheers, guys.![]()
@ Vinns (Vinlassis) ...
You have balls of steel dude! 1 v 1ing a spider on a 53 LM... I just wanted you to know, I didn't call in that other spider. Sorry, man, if you thought that.![]()
Good 1v1 Hopperleaf.
