Well it could be, but given minstrels have no reliable interrupts until the patch, it often goes on for ages and the minstrel needs to drop warspeech if they're smart once they realize they can't crit enough to burn the WL down - and they won't crit much if the WL is R6 or higher. You can't burn through 9-10k morale (or similar) in warspeech, getting no crits, no interrupts, all while in a banner that kills damage, healing and regen, and expect to finish the fight either way. You have to drop warspeech once you go through a cycle or 2 of WS skills (when you reach 1/2 power) and at that point, the fight is entirely about power, heh.
I have no problem fighting a WL in a banner if I engage him naturally. But my impression was, this was an arranged/agreed on 1v1. I don't see anything wrong with waiting for it to drop, or trying to move the fight out of it.

Like Jaiyne said, I do not think anyone is obligated to fight you with your banner up. However, with that being said, I fought you two times last night with the banner of terror. I'm not sure why you forgot to mention that? It made no difference in the outcome of our fights, so I'm really not worried about it. I will fight you anytime you want with your banner. I'll leave it at that because I don't really want to get into what else your post is implying about me.
Anyway, I would like to thank everyone I have had a good 1v1 with since I have been out. Arctic, I have always had good fights with you and you have fought to the end no matter what. Fardochee, you are the best reaver on the server imo, and I always enjoy seeing you out. Webbzilla, you are already tougher than most of the high ranked spiders, and I hope to see you rank up some more. Any creep or freep who goes out looking for a 1v1 has my respect. Ugmog, thanks for the fights.

AND assuming that the WL is solo. Ugmog is the first, and Only, Warleader that I know of to even Be alone in a given area.
Everything here is possible. A minstrel IS able to bring down a WL. But these circumstances deal a lot of Ifs.
However, I do know it is possible to burn a rank 7 WL down to 1.5k in WS (with retaining 3.1k power in a 4.3k power pool). I don't know how it would have turned out because of the wargs.

WLs that run builds that bring them "only" (lol) to 7k morale are a wholly different creep to fight. I have seen a WL buffed with more than 11k morale. I am not kidding. I have 5.3k morale and 5.1k power in my DPS gear. It was lulzworthy to try to DPS through that even though my tactical crit and tactical offense are extremely high.
Minstrels when they crit, hit hard. It is very rare to crit on a ranked WL consistently. We also have zero reliable way to interrupt anything. If the WL has a lot of morale and we do not crit, we must drop WS. At the end of the day, it was implied that a WL v Minstrel fight is a faceroll. My point is simply, no, that's incorrect.
Back to the original segue, the banner. If someone wants to stand around in a fight club and spar me (which is what this sounds like), I'm going to move away from the banner. If I come across a solo WL already standing in his banner, I'll fight wherever the fight goes.
EDIT - I am going to stop derailing my own thread O.o /exit

I like this thread. The forums have been much less tense lately, and I think this thread is helping with that.
Do you have a WL Jaiyne? by do you have I really mean, have you played a WL consistently for a few weeks?
I'll give you that playing against a high rank (rank 9 and above) would be a lot tougher, but a WL below rank 8 should be an easy kill.
Maybe you are approaching the fight to the WLs advantage; it might not be just about spamming dps on him as fast as you can, something that anybody can do.
I think a WL pointing out advantages that Minstrels have against them has a better case than a minstrel doing the opposite.
And to stay on topic...
Good 1vs1 One shotter standing by the rez, you totally owned me.![]()

Why do you expect players to fight when the situation is for your advantage is beyond me. I personally, most of the time, will not fight in a disadvantage if I had the choice, and I am sure many others are the same.
I guess then we could say this describes how you play: if a 1v1 doesn't go too well for you, you come on the forums and call the other person out? That pretty much describes how you fight.
Of course that's not remotely true, but I'm just assuming things on a first impression, like you did earlier.

I have a noob WL. Very low rank (>R3), so my experience is admittedly super limited. And no, I have never lost a fight to any WL 1:1 (although it's not a super common 1:1 occurrence for obvious reasons - so give me time and I sure I will lose more than one lol!), and I think a minstrel should win for all the reasons we both know. I just was saying it's not a fight that's necessarily going to only last 20 seconds because the minstrel crits x4 or interrupts the last heal; it often lasts longer (ie, not a faceroll), which imo, makes for much more interesting fights. It started about the banner. If I have a choice, I wouldn't stand in it. If I don't have a choice, I'll still fight.
I also wasn't pointing out advantages (??) - I simply asked a question because I didn't understand a post calling out someone for not willingly standing in a banner if they have a choice (as it sounded as if it were some sort of duel).
I don't really know what to make out of the "spamming dps as fast as you can" comment. I'm not really into that![]()

Confucious say, "Man who jump from Aoeroplane without first checking parachute, jump to conclusions."
On another note, I should never post in the forums at 1 AM.
Okay where do I begin in the mess I've made . . .
Rauva,
I did not bother to mention any of our fights in detail (and I lost all of them) and only mentioned the one incident because you did the jump in the air thing, I charged towards you (I may have eaten food beforehand, I don't even remember), and managed to deploy the Banner. Jumping up and down, to me, signals a maximum aggression fight to the death. If that is NOT your definition of the jumping up and down thing then we can go to the "Fight to the Death" thread and debate it there.
But as you discovered, a Runekeeper fighting within the Radius is no where near as crippled or debilitated as you might think. I've fought a lot of RKs and I know that the good ones will kill me with no problems unless that Banner is Deployed. Even then all it means is that I stand a higher chance of getting the RK into a power starved state where I have a chance at winning the fight. Assuming other players to know these things about my class (when there are, honestly, very few who play it and engage in 1v1s) and hoping that they would choose to engage on a more level playing field was an error on my part.
I must've been subconciously trying to write more into that unwritten code book that vets are supposed to use to force everyone else to play the way they want to. My bad.
Gilly,
As I stated above, my own interpretation of the jumping up and down thing is the one and only reason I would ever expect someone to fight me under the Banner of Terror. Otherwise it's just wishful thinking on my part. *points at the Confucious say quote* That's a reminder to me about false expectations.
Eo,
I know you have a policy of fighting to the death in a 1v1 and I respect that greatly. You're one of the few non RKs, Guards, or Wardens that I personally see soloing in the Moors regularly. On the Eagle thing, talk is cheap. I expect that it turns out to be more useful than the other pets versus a Warleader, but since it still does common damage and has to go through BPE that it will not be quite as effective as you'd think. We'll all find out after some LMs and eagles have gone a few rounds with some of the Warleaders on the server.
Kara,
I forgot to mention this when it happend but you reminded me of a fight with Gaelbo I had in HH a few days ago. He pulverized me, in the Banner of Terror, and without dropping below 2K power (if I remember correctly). The fight was literally 30 seconds long. I don't know how well he did on his crits since I didn't check (though I imagine it was quite well) but I can tell you that he had clearly thought about how our last fight went and its progression. He adjusted his strategy accordingly and was highly successful.
So you're right, and it is possible for a Minstrel to take down a Warleader, but it is far less if dependant than you might think.
Faims,
That line you pointed out is precisely why I shouldn't post at 1 AM. Ordinarily, when I post on the forums I write up everything I want to say, look over it again for editing purposes and to ask the question "Does this add anything worthwhile to the conversation?" I then post it and reread it one more time for editing purposes. I often find some spelling or grammar mistake after it has been posted and promptly edit it.
Unfortunately when I post at 1 AM my brain does not do so well at checking myself for grammar and to see if what is being said is constructive. Having fought something between 5-7 rounds with Rauva and seeing the exact same 8 skills used every time (versus the ridiculous match I had with Radar where he used probably every damage skill RKs have) and also getting slowed for kiting if I should try to get close for a melee attack I was starting to feel supremely agitated and annoyed. Coupled with my tiredness I posted that and called out Revex.
But you want to know what the ironic twist in this is? The internal argument for posting that I can remember having was, "I've only posted fights I've won recently and need to balance that out." Nice thought, wrong time.
Sorry about that disturbance everyone it was somewhat out of character for me and I will do my best not to have a repeat performance, now back to your regularly scheduled 1v1s.
If Tl;DR, Read the first 2 lines and the last 2 lines.

But.. But... I have gone a few rounds with some of the war leaders on the server.
You don't use an eagle for the damage. You use it for the interrupts. LMs can do plenty of spike damage and damage over time without the need for the pet, all the while debuffing a WLs limited melee attacks. Nandir and I put our eagles on a defiler buddy of ours one night to test it and he was so mad at not being able to heal that he logged off. In addition to that the eagle will increase the severity of the DoTs. If you kill it, I can rez it. It you attack it, I can mez you (up to three times reliably) to heal it.
A LM could put the eagle on you and the majoity of your heals would be interrupted while kiting you into oblivion. I think of all the classes, if I were to see a WL while solo on my LM I would be most excited.
In the end though you are right. Talk is cheap. I haven't played my LM actively for sometime so I'll need to get some practice in and meet you for tea and interrupts!
