Good 1v1 Thread!

Yeah, it totally had to do with movement. I'm not sure if it's my ISP or Turbine (leaning toward Turbine), but I am getting incredibly bad hitches during fights lately. It has cost me fights and prevented me from dismounting running freeps multiple times.

It's Turbine. The speculation is that it's related to Bullroarer, and moving more resources there and off the live servers, as it seems to happen every time there is load on the test server before a big update. No idea if that's correct. There's a very large thread in the general discussion about this.

Agree it's really gotten horrible.

I tried to use my minstrel ways to defeat charrk the afk warg, but his shield were up and my musical notes could not penetrate them.
I should have tried a metal song!

I didn't use pledge at all because I think it's cheap in a 1v1
I figure the better I get without cd's, the better player I will be.

Thank you, you are definitely one of the better reavers I've come across out here, you will be a real challenge once you get higher ranked.

You will find that wardens, if played correctly/well, are near impossible to beat 1v1 on a reaver. If you're R10, can get them to half, and manage to devastate on back-to-back Dev. Strikes, it might be easier.

If the warden doesn't turtle/HoT/PoT, they're beatable, but few that I've encountered 1v1 don't trait that way.

the last time he and I 1v1d was a long time ago, probably just a few weeks after he got back to the game. He popped pledge twice, I have nothing against guards using their skills either, but I was wondering if his no pledge policy was just recently introduced or if he will do whatever it takes to get me.

Suggesting that using pledge in a fight is cheap is asinine at best. Being a guard in a 1v1 is cheap on it's own. Having some code of conduct about what skills we may use or not use in order to not be "cheap" is hot air.

There aren't enough lines in this text box for me to convey the skills that I think are cheap. They are still used to win 1v1s against me.

While foregoing powers may level the playing field a bit, there is a small part of me that feels it's like keeping one hand behind your back. I mean have I really beaten a Guardian or Warden if they chose not to use their self buffs? I think that a player who is testing their limits by holding back on certain powers is laudable, but I guess I don't really feel it's cheap if someone chooses to uses the skills inherent in their class and race to their fullest.

This is all intellectual of course. In real life I would appreciate all freeps using only auto-attacks when in my vacinity.

(OK...on further thought, in a 1 vs 1, HIPS, DF, And any sprinting away to avoid the coming death are all bad form)

I do not request anyone save any CDs when fighting me. I enjoy winning when my opponent pops everything. If I have to take a loss, I like knowing it took everything they had to beat me.

How come I could stun you for the first 3 min, the last 3 min, but the middle 10 minutes, I couldnt stun you?

Didn't see a stun immunity pot or anything....

It's to try and force myself to get better at strafing etc

Although I really won't get to practice much until I come back to the game full time.

I think the guardian build, at its core, shouldn't need to "rely" on pledge in a 1v1. That is of course entirely depending on who and what you are fighting( and your ability as a player), but I think I can generally apply that statement here without too much of a backlash.
If a champ can take down a reaver without pledge, surely a guardian can. I mean sure, the champion does a lot more damage, but the guardian has a couple of burst heals, and can E/P attacks.
