We all had a blast last night. For those wondering, that's one of the prizes we gave away last night at our PAX East party. It's a 30x40 print on canvas of the original concept art for Mines of Moria. We had one for DDO as well with dragon concept art.

Warner Bros made these for us at the same shop on their studio lot that creates the backdrops and other art pieces for films.

Now you realize we expect to see a shot of it once it's framed and hanging in your house, right?

I suppose it's a good thing I didn't win this. I live in the same house as 16 of my other alts on this server, and Large Wall decoration hooks are hard to come by.

It's been so long since Moria. I can't remember when they did those press previews. Was it PAX 2008?
Sure was! I'm hoping for a preview at PAX Prime in late August so I can do a write-up for my Kinship as I did for Moria.

    GRRRRRRRRRR

    August is so far away.

I guess it makes sense though. They prolly wanna keep attention on Update 2. Update 3 should be released before PAX Prime so they can shift attention to the Expansion at that time.

Well, with Isengard's announced release date of "Fall, 2011," August would be about right. Late summer seems like a good time to preview a fall release.

Only that they announced Fall, not late summer. You know very well that Fall means Thanksgiving time.

The Turbine party was a blast, they had a bunch of AC, DDO and LoTRo Triva questions for some TB points.

They also had some charades, the Turbinite's ( yep i just made up a word for Turbine fans ) would try and act out monsters from the different games and if the charade was found they got some TB points. Here are some of the different ones they had : Warg, Orc, Medusa, Beholder, Cave Claw and my favorite (ok im biased since it was done by my wife) Gollum.

The prizes that could be won from the drawings were neet , among other things there was 6 life time accounts, some 2.5k TB points and two canvas arts, one we say in this thread and a DDO one with a dragon.

    Fun time for All.

I hope Turbine does this again next year , and hoppefully well have more then 2 hours ( goes way too fast )

That was your wife? Wow, I would keep some elvish rope around just to be safe. She did a great Gollum!

A full rundown of everything we gave out at the party (other than the free food, drinks, and pool).

    Raffled items

    • Canvas art printed by WB on their studio lot by the same team that creates backdrops and matte paintings for films. One for DDO and one for LOTRO.
    • Six 2500 Turbine Point codes.
    • Six lifetime accounts(players got to choose which game they wanted)
    • A rare, unopened, copy of Asheron's Call along with a rare collectible figurine.
    • The Lord of the Rings trilogy on Blu-ray
    • Dungeons and Dragons two movie set on Blu-ray

    Everyone who attended received

    • PAX exclusive mounts for LOTRO and pirate hats for DDO.
    • Messenger bags (Red for DDO and Blue for LOTRO, attendees choice).
    • Community pins (exclusive to the party for PAX east) One for each game LOTRO, DDO, and AC.

We also gave out tens of thousands of turbine points for trivia and charades prizes. Plus we had a couple dozen developers and most of the community team there for everyone to talk to.

I hope it was the DnD movie that had the Wayans brother in it. You know, so many people hate on that movie, but when Snails died at the end, I cried. I love that movie.

In fact, there are two movies that always make me cry. When snails dies in DnD, and in Armagedon when Bruce Willis dies. Makes me get all weepy and patriotic. When he's talking to Arwen over the tv monitors while Billy Bob Slingblade tears up, it just breaks me up. America, heck yah!

Haha,...I told them at the party that the Second DnD was the much better(relatively) movie,..:P

I won the Lotr trilogy on Blu-Ray,...but sadly I don't even have a blu-ray player, so I donated it to A casual Stroll to Mordor.

But if I got that DnD movie,..well,..it is so bad I may of forced myself to buy a Ps3 ! he hee

Indeed, the Lotro crowd outnumbered the DDO, which outnumbered the AC crowd.

and if there is one lesson to be learned, folks.

    READ THE QUESTS!!

and thanks for the Fun Turbine!
I was initially skeptical of having it in a bowling alley, especially "Lucky Strike",
but you did right by holding it in a private room. That's classy!

    cheers
