Exclamation Clarification needed on the next Class Updates

The last 3 updates (F2P, November and Update 2) came with class updates. It seems that Update 3 will not have class updates for the remaining classes (judging from the patch notes).

Class update project schedule, so far:

    F2P: Captain Update
    November: Lore-Master and Rune-Keeper updates
Update 2: Hunter, Minstrel and Burglar updates

It also seems that there will no more updates between Update 3 and Rise of Isengard (Somewhere between 20 of September and 20 of December 2011).

    Just need this clarification then:

Champion, Guardian and Warden will go without updates for a whole year after Turbine first started the class updates project?

Thank you for your answers, if you can provide them.

    Sure looks like it.

Though if the remaining classes get an "update" like the Burg one my Guard just says "No!" to that...

If my burg got the kind of update that my RK got she would not stop smiling for a year. I love, LOVE, master writs.

"Mischief may now be toggled in-combat.

All Crit Chain skills now do 15% less damage. Subtle Stab has had its energy cost increased by 30%."

    Enjoy!

guards are really good balanced, i'm glad with our guardians skills, except that we always need more power in OverPower stance xD.

Champs need 300% more DPS. we need to hit harder. RK and Hunter does more damage on single target than us. We need to do that kind of damage but AoE.

please let us know when can we get that - hopefully before Isengard.

Not to derail it any further, but the power cost changes didn't really hurt that bad for me. Maybe I am just used to the power cost fun of burg dps.

Sorry, I thought it was pretty clear from the interview we all read that those classes would not see an update till the level bump in RoI.

Champs got their update at the same time as Hunters.

The tooltip for the Champion's Dire Need skill, as well as other skills that drain power or morale from a foe to yourself, now always correctly shows what the conversion for the transfer is.

As usual Burgs are too blind to see good changes when they see them!

Do Guards and Wardens even need updates? I'm not so sure. Champs perhaps. But you never know what Turbine is thinking in regards to them.

Why do you assume that? Because they haven't publicized the schedule yet?

What are talking about? My burg got a new stance(quiet knife) and a skill that I rarely use(break fall). :P

Re: Clarification needed on the next Class Updates

Why is there this idea that every class needs to be updated? Updates should be based on whether there is something about the class that is not working as intended etc., not on "that class got an update so we need one"

My warden is my favorite character and I see no real need for an update except maybe a boost to in combat power regen. I mean, come on, wardens, small fellowship in a box, do not need an update. Any update would likely be a nerf. No thanks, I like my favorite soloing character the way it is.

I have a 65 Guardian too and I personally see no weaknesses that need to be addressed in that class either. It seems well balanced and very effective as it stands. If it is not broken, don't fix it applies to this class too.

And my character in my Sig, champion, I am perfectly happy with this class too, nothing I can see that needs fixing so leave it alone on the same premise as above.

Updates should be on an as needed basis for classes, not on the basis of that class got an update so I must need one too.

New instances can add new challenges and new abilties go great along with that. Not only that if we only got new abilities / updated abilities only in expansions the grand majority of us would be bored to death with face rolling the same keys over and over for 1 1/2 years at a time. The updates tend to help refresh the class or add a new pewpew button.[Unless it's the Burg update]

What makes you think this is true? There is time for an Update 4 in July and Update 5 in September then Isengard in November. I'm assuming they keep putting out smaller content patches on a two month cycle but even if there's only an Update 4 sometime in the summer. That's more content than just Update 3 and then waiting till Isengard launches. Unless I missed a dev interview or quote somewhere but I haven't seen any confirmation that there will be no more updates after Update 3 until Isengard.

It has been proposed that tanking (as in, the ability to take boss-level damage and survive) and threat, period, require a major overhaul. As it stands, Champs are the best threat-generators in the game, and they can survive most anything the game can throw at them due to very powerful healers, making GRDs and WRDs less than ideal in most content up to 6-man (after all, why bring a tank with low-ish DPS when a Champ doing their normal DPS rotation does more DPS and can still tank just fine?). It's not as bad as it was in Moria, but it's still an issue.

There's also a distinct discrepancy between Guardians and Wardens, forced mostly by raid mechanics that require aggro-swapping. Wardens have issues with precise-timed aggro swaps like, say, DB in the Fear wing, because we have no "snap aggro" like Engage or Challenge. They've made hints in interviews that the "tanking classes" (GRD, WRD) are getting reviewed, and Orion (I think?) posted something in the Champ forum about how reviews were underway for that class.

ETA: As for the burg updates, yes, they were buffs across the board. They just weren't buffs that Burgs needed. Instead of fixing the issues with Mischief-Maker or power costs, they entirely ignored it in favor of buffs to the two more-viable trait lines, QK and TG, and we got told to man up and deal with the power costs (even as Hunters were being re-crafted to be more power-efficient in the same update!). It's like if you really needed a new pair of shoes, and everyone heard about your need, and kept buying you really nice shirts. Well yeah, they're nice shirts, but you're still gonna look a fool if you turn up shoe-less.

You keep adding new buttons and you get ability bloat, which is bad too.

agreed, although I personally would like to see turbine take a look at the ardor stance and maybe turn it into something a little more useful.

i see your view as more of a 'let it go until it breaks' sort of thing. theres nothing wrong with updating a class even if nothing is wrong. theres always "better".
