Gamescom Announcements

Lots of big announcements, videos and whatnot coming out of Cologne today for other games, but nothing (yet) from Turbine regarding LOTRO or RoI. This isn't surprising, as Turbine waited until the 2nd day of E3 to announce the release date for RoI, but I'm certainly interested to hear what information will come from Turbine this week.

So, any speculation as to what information Sapience and crew will be releasing this week?

I don't think an announcement of shutdown of the forums is forthcoming.

They will first have to lift the NDA so that should be the first announcement. Guess we will know tomorrow(press day) or Thursday.

If not I'm going to tie him done and confiscate his passport!

They can release whatever info they want. They are not bound by the NDA, only players are. I hope we get some new info and not just some more screenshots. Some press previews would be nice. We still have PAX Prime at the end of the month so there's another opportunity for new info. Hopefully an NDA lift at that time too.

Not true. All public statements have to go thru the censors first. All Turbine employees are bound by a much tighter NDA than we are.

That being said, if there are public announcements to be made. The approvals have already been given. The bounds of acceptable information release set.

Most of the companies I have worked at. When I've gone out to visit customers as a development engineer, I've had one or two minders to cut me off if I said anything that was not allowed to be released to the customer. The two minders was interesting. I always had at least one with me. Tow minders means that they consider the customer especially troublesome. The big fish folks want to make sure you never spend alone with the customer. They want to monitor everything that is said in both directions.

don't hold your breathe its been pretty disappointing with only 5 weeks tell launch or close to that with very little info released this might be the wrost xpac released to date for lotro

My guess is it'll be more announcements for the LotR: War in the North game. Sure, it's not Turbine's game but it IS WB's and that's what they're really pushing.

There will be some announcements. They would not bother to send the producer on the game if they had nothing to announce.

According to Facebook, they'll be on the floor today, so I'm guessing announcements would come today.

Why would they have to do that? As the owner of the IP, they are able to release any details they wish about RoI regardless of any ongoing NDA placed on players who got into beta.

At a guess I would say the one in the middle is the Map going off the text in upper right corner.

Was the guy placed there on purpose, or was it a miss timed photo shot

Kind of surprised that these pics is all we've seen so far. Being it was Media Day, at the very least I was expecting Massively or some other third-party gaming news source to post some info from what they saw in RoI, or from and interview, or something... anything at all, really.

Has anyone seen a new article about RoI today, from GamesCom?

I have an odd feeling that Draigoch looks like Sean Connery, what with the beard and everything.

Not sure why.

Anywho, he looks good(as much as Dragons can look good), and I look forward to waiting hours to get into a raid to fight him.

Well I was going to jump in here and say that Sapience would be posting pictures of the convention on our Twitter feed at http://www.twitter.com/lotro... but you guys already found that.

But, I can say that you guys should keep your eyes on our Facebook and Twitter, as we'll be updating those with some inside looks at GamesCom, and keep an eye out for more dev diaries coming.
