Man, I just started patching and I bet someone already killed Saruman and got his staff unique drop.

I just think it's interesting that even though the servers can't handle the current volume (which is an issue of poor planning from the get-go) the Twitter feed is is pimping out how the patch servers are up and the game servers are up (and even encouraging you to re-tweet to pass the message along). This is putting additional stress on an already overwhelmed system, and it clearly neglects to mention the fact that the majority (it seems) can't connect to either the game or the patch servers.

Time to play the sims and maybe kill the possum that's living in our garden shed! Exciting.

Actually, it's a real kick in the teeth for those who simply want to play and take their time as well. But yeah, laugh it up, why don't you.

Still trying to connect to patch up. Six hours now.

Edit: okay, this makes no sense. This was not a reply to the quote above. Obviously.

just started my laptop too (the 3rd client which needs the update) and curiously enough, the damned loading screens updated perfectly, then the usual failed connection attempts as on the other two clients

Question for those who have patched successfully, did you just let the connection keep retrying and eventually got the connection, or did you keep restarting the launcher?

I can picture an impatient Saruman sitting in his throne and tapping his fingers on the arm, saying "where is everyone?"

If you decide to take a day off from work to be able to patch a game, then I say its your own headache!

Congrats to all who have patched. I still can't even connect, after several attempts. So much for pre-purchasing!

I wonder how many people have actually managed to get into the game. Not that they would be posting here.

I will now sit back and watch anime, this is annoying, but we should also understand Turbine, they are trying their best to get this to work. And I remember from previous patches, a lot of people come back, but in the end only 70% or less of them stay, will be the same this time

Were you restarting your launcher every so often or just letting it retry on it's own?

I should have written Turbine an "IOU" note for the RoI expac and given them the money when the **** starts working properly.

And to those saying "patience....." really? This isn't charity. I pre-pay for a service and I am told it's available, but I am unable to access it because of shortcomings on the provider's end (suppy can't meet the demand, despite having collected money for the supply).... I shouldn't be expected to be patient. The company should be expected to provide the service it collected money for.

I did an ipconfig /flushdns and reset my Router to reset the connection to the Akamai server.
