We also shouldn't forget that this is the first major patch since turbine took over the European servers as well, the demand this time round is probably double that they'd normally expect.

Think about it this way. Right now, we are all in a single file line, waiting to connect to turbines computer. When you restart your launcher, all that does is put you in the back of the line, increasing your wait time.

We may not get to kill him, but maybe we can demoralize him to the point of defeat. You know, the point where he kneels down, clicks "retreat" and gets ganked on the way back from the rez circle?

    LOL

The new Wii is due to arrive today via UPS after the kids broke the old one. If I don't get patched up and going soon, it will be a long day of Mario Kart. :/

I would imagine it was more of an attempt from turbine to relieve some of the pressure on the patching servers.. as all the nubs who had already patched are now stood somewhere in the gap of rohan scratching their butts and wondering where everybody else is ~ rather than repeatedly attempting to login servers which quite clearly were not yet up.. and accessing the patching server to verify which version they were running.. GOOD CALL imo xD

    Oh, that's a good point.

I was wondering why demand had doubled.

then it seems you need to start reading properly as well - since it has been officially announced that the world server are patche and online and RoI is live.

People are complaining that they still get even patch clients, let alone get into the game.

What do turbine use to power their servers...coal?

Dont be so dramatic. There are at least 10 people.

Just too many simultaneous connections. You have to connect to the patch server for it to check that you're up to date before you can log in anyway so knowing that you're patched is of no real benefit to you. Just leave the client checking, eventually it'll connect and you'll get patched - then you just have to wait for it to 'examine game data' wehich is where I'm currently stuck.

For those who are incensed and inflamed about today's delays and traffic jams, I suggest the following:

Call your local cable company and report a problem with your service.

After taking off a day to wait for a repairman to arrive "sometime between noon and six p.m.", having that repairman not arrive, waiting on hold for an hour for a customer representative who makes no apologies and tells you that the next available appointment is six weeks down the road, I guarantee you'll feel MUCH BETTER about having to wait a few hours to patch a game.
