One thought spins around my head ...
I have VIP membership till 30th of June 2012...
By then this pathetic miserable patchday will be long forgotten... and I will probably buy a new 12 month VIP membership I Guess?
Or swtor must be kiocking ### ...
how far have we become that we are so angry so outraged whining like kids for a stupid game :-)
BUT damn i want to be able tologin !!!!!!
I had an auction thing ging on![]()
Does anyone know what is actually happening at the "Examine Game Data" phase? When it is stuck there what is it waiting for?
Thanks,
Michael
WooHoo! Finally started patching.
Glad I'm not a "paying customer" anymore, I'd go mental.
I know it's frustrating but keep in mind that the new Nancy Drew game is available for pre-order, so...you know, there's other options for entertainment.
Just sayin'.
Update: I am now examining game data...are we calling this progress?
I have some bad news for those of you who have been waiting, there is definitely not a queue system. I was stuck on connecting for an hour before I started. I wonder what makes the difference?

Oh, believe me, I hear ya. I'm sort of the opposite - I'm more or less housebound, and this game is my primary source of entertainment and interaction. I'm annoyed and frustrated just like everyone else.
The difference is, I guess, that I understand that my annoyance and frustration isn't anyone else's fault.
I'm sure the LAST thing Turbine wants is a less-than-smooth launch - the effort to launch a day early is proof of that. I'm sure the LAST thing Turbine wants is for their customer base - especially people new or returning to the game who paid actual money for the RoI expansion - to have their first encounter with the game be fraught with anger and irritation. I am sure that they're doing their very best to resolve any outstanding issues and get everyone patched and online - not out of any sense of philanthropic humanitarianism, but because it is *good business sense*.
Just because something doesn't go as smoothly as one would like, doesn't mean there's anyone to blame for it.
I am sorry that your birthday isn't going as planned, and I hope you get patched and in-game quickly.
This is just flat out incorrect; infact just Google 'WoW patch notes' and look through the service announcments...last update the time wasn't pushed back; nor was there a large issue with connecting to patch...
WoW had a terrible launch, it also had patch issues in the beggining; even when the latest expansion hit there wasn't even remotely of a comparable issue to this. I'm all for 'hating on successful' thing - but stating facts(that are actually incorrect) is the wrong way to do it. WoW has it's flaws - it's patch system isn't one of them though.

my luck really sucks I am sitting about 8 hours of waiting and there are people able to patch up in about 4 hours. where are these additional servers to elevate the problem? please add more.

A few things here.
It took me 6/7 hours of 'connection attempts failed' to finally get the game patched. Once in it took 20 minutes to patch, which was impressive. Now can't get back in to actually play so I'll have to wait till tomorrow.
I can understand the frustration in here, but there isn't an unlimited amount of server time for everyone and when every player possible descends to try and patch at the same time there was always going to be issues. If Turbine have done everything possible, and to be honest it looks like they have by allocating extra servers and keeping everyone updated in this thread, then to me they don't deserve criticism.
We are getting this early. A day early. I'd say that by tomorrow the official launch date, everyone who wants to be will be patched up and playing. If that ends up being the case then it will be a job well done.

why did people freak out and try to reinstall? anyone else find that REALLY funny? sit back and wait- the update WILL begin on its own when it is good and ready. they could have taken servers down for an entire day if they wanted. be thankful that it will be ready to play the afternoon/evening of a major expansion!

hello im very new, not even tried lotro yet - but i was download the client all last night and its done ..but
im getting - connection atempt failed.
ive gathered there is an expantion of some sort going on today - so my question is
Are the servers down today 26 sept 2011 ? im in the UK
sorry if it sounds silly but its a question i need an answer too - i dont wana be messing around with my new pc setting if its just me trying to trial on an akward day when everyone is having the same issues.![]()
I think it's much more likely that players will complain on this thread up until the point they patch and login, and then they'll never give the 13 hours of downtime a second thought. Seriously, you guys should go do some chores or something. It's not the end of the world if you can't log into lotro for half a day. An expansion was released. Downtime is to be expected.

4pm still nothing. How can the load be this bad. Please turbine dont just assume it'll clear up on its own please go down and take a look. This is crazy f2p people are in playing the game who havent paid a dime while your paying customers cannot login.

It's pure luck. If your client happens to click when there's an opening then you're in. But the connection changes so fast and you have the countdown timer for retry whether you restart the client or not, so it's really just a matter of luck. Someone could get in in minutes, someone else might take all day.
