Does anyone know what is actually happening at the "Examine Game Data" phase? When it is stuck there what is it waiting for?
    Thanks,

I know it's frustrating but keep in mind that the new Nancy Drew game is available for pre-order, so...you know, there's other options for entertainment.

    Just sayin'.

Update: I am now examining game data...are we calling this progress?

I have some bad news for those of you who have been waiting, there is definitely not a queue system. I was stuck on connecting for an hour before I started. I wonder what makes the difference?

The difference is, I guess, that I understand that my annoyance and frustration isn't anyone else's fault.

I'm sure the LAST thing Turbine wants is a less-than-smooth launch - the effort to launch a day early is proof of that. I'm sure the LAST thing Turbine wants is for their customer base - especially people new or returning to the game who paid actual money for the RoI expansion - to have their first encounter with the game be fraught with anger and irritation. I am sure that they're doing their very best to resolve any outstanding issues and get everyone patched and online - not out of any sense of philanthropic humanitarianism, but because it is *good business sense*.

Just because something doesn't go as smoothly as one would like, doesn't mean there's anyone to blame for it.

I am sorry that your birthday isn't going as planned, and I hope you get patched and in-game quickly.

This is just flat out incorrect; infact just Google 'WoW patch notes' and look through the service announcments...last update the time wasn't pushed back; nor was there a large issue with connecting to patch...

WoW had a terrible launch, it also had patch issues in the beggining; even when the latest expansion hit there wasn't even remotely of a comparable issue to this. I'm all for 'hating on successful' thing - but stating facts(that are actually incorrect) is the wrong way to do it. WoW has it's flaws - it's patch system isn't one of them though.

To me it doesnt seem like this is load when people can patch and others (like me) who have been trying for hours cannot. What would be nice is some reassurance you guys know whats wrong.
    /signed.

Since the official statement the world servers are up - i have had 2 clients sitting here (already patched) and stuck at Connect (A connection attempt failed)).

The car is ready in the middle of the day on the 26th, a day before it was promised.

But self-entitlement is a powerful thing indeed. So you get upset because YOU had decided that the car would be available on the morning of the 26th. Never mind that the dealership told you the car wouldn't be yours until the 27th. Never mind the fact that you actually took possession of the car a day before you were "supposed" to. You're upset because the dealership didn't meet the arbitrary and imaginary deadline that YOU came up with.

That's pretty unreasonable, really. They exceeded their promise. They got the car to you before they said they would. That's actually the bottom line.
LOL you're getting way too technical with the analogy. In the analogy the dealership calls the customer and says the car will be available 1 day early. Sorry that you like getting hung up on details and being a #####.

Thank you for shedding some light on how those precious "resources" over at Turbine are being used. I agree, more resources spent on dishing out punishment, less on generating new content. That sounds like a great business model.

Re: Rise of Isengard Update/Patching Discussion - OFFICIAL

    A few things here.

It took me 6/7 hours of 'connection attempts failed' to finally get the game patched. Once in it took 20 minutes to patch, which was impressive. Now can't get back in to actually play so I'll have to wait till tomorrow.

I can understand the frustration in here, but there isn't an unlimited amount of server time for everyone and when every player possible descends to try and patch at the same time there was always going to be issues. If Turbine have done everything possible, and to be honest it looks like they have by allocating extra servers and keeping everyone updated in this thread, then to me they don't deserve criticism.

We are getting this early. A day early. I'd say that by tomorrow the official launch date, everyone who wants to be will be patched up and playing. If that ends up being the case then it will be a job well done.

why did people freak out and try to reinstall? anyone else find that REALLY funny? sit back and wait- the update WILL begin on its own when it is good and ready. they could have taken servers down for an entire day if they wanted. be thankful that it will be ready to play the afternoon/evening of a major expansion!

I think it's much more likely that players will complain on this thread up until the point they patch and login, and then they'll never give the 13 hours of downtime a second thought. Seriously, you guys should go do some chores or something. It's not the end of the world if you can't log into lotro for half a day. An expansion was released. Downtime is to be expected.

The last update was small, not really a content patch.

It's pure luck. If your client happens to click when there's an opening then you're in. But the connection changes so fast and you have the countdown timer for retry whether you restart the client or not, so it's really just a matter of luck. Someone could get in in minutes, someone else might take all day.
