    Improved Feral Strikes question...

    At level 68 we can improve Feral Strikes so that the first hit has a 50% chance to remove corruptions and the second hit has a 100% chance to remove corruptions.

    However, I'd like to know if purchasing this skill will change it such that while DW'ing Feral will now have 2 instead of 3 strikes.

    Can anyone confirm this?

    A day after the champ diary came out Orion posted the new champ skills:

    66 - Improved Seeking Blade: Your next Relentless or Remorseless strike will critically strike if used within 10 seconds. If used, your chance to critically strike with Relentless of Remorseless strikes is increases for 10 seconds.

    68 - Improved Feral Strikes: You make a savage double strike that is very difficult to parry or evade. The first attack has a chance to remove a Corruption and the second, if it hits, will remove a Corruption.

    70 - Improved Dire Need: Half of you power is expended. Three times the amount of power lost is transferred to Morale. (Yes the cooldown is now 10 minutes)

    72 - Improved Hedge: All the benefits of Hedge with bonus Crit Defence

    74 - Enhanced Battle Acuity: Increases the damage bonus granted by Battle Acuity
    It appears it is a 2 attack skill now. Keep in mind that I have not gotten to 68 so I can't say for sure that this is the case.

    That's a good question, but it does seem that we won't get a third attack. Removing corruptions will be easier, and the cost in power is about the same. But the damage is less - about 200 points less. It also costs one more fervour pip.

    If the ease of removing corruptions is considered more important for this skill than damage, then I suppose it is an improved skill. But for my play style, maximizing damage with fervour pip usage is more important. Getting 600 points of damage for 2 pips instead of 400 for 3 is more beneficial and efficient for me than a guaranteed corruption removal.

    I'm curious to know what others think of this though. Is corruption removal guarantee more important to you or the damage?

    In the beta it was 25%,25%,100% (3 strikes) with DW. Improved version also costs 3 fervour instead of 2.

    I'd almost never use feral for damage purposes, so its damage per pip isn't really a concern, imo.

    You still get three strikes when you buy it.

    first two hits are 50% the last hit is 25%

    Hmm... is 50/50/25 WAI? The main benefit of Improved Feral Strikes was that we'd finally get a guaranteed removal skill...

    i really hope its not 50/50/25...25/25/100 is fine, i just don't want a repeat of how it used to be (yes i'm one of the lucky ones that's managed to use feral strikes 10 times in a row without it removing anything...on more than one occasion).

    Then do us all a favor and /bug it, please. I doubt 50/50/25 is WAI.

    It's actually 50/100/25% DW, and 50/100% 2H. The only thing that will stop IFS removing at least one corruption is if the 100% hit is BPE'd or misses, and the DW version is likely to remove multiple corruptions.

    Bugged.

    Should be 50% on first strike, 25% on second strike.

    With the skill changing with DW/2H it's not quite clear what you mean.

    Was this your intention for the skill?

    Because how i interpreted it, feral strikes would get a 100% chance at 1 of the hits

    Seems like you are paying 1 extra fervour pip for an extra 25% on the first strike. Now, I know skill upgrades don't always have to be amazing, but I would hope they'd be good enough so that players don't have to question whether they even want to buy it or not.

    Exactly, that's a very disappointing upgade

    If the cost goes up to 3 pips, then having the second attack remove a corruption 100% of the time is probably worth it. If, as Orion says, it's destined to be 50/25 or 50/25/25, then right now, I'm thinking I'll be passing on this "Improvement".

    This is a little disappointing, as I thought that we were finally getting a guaranteed corruption removal skill - our turn on the "oh wait every class should be able to do the exact same things" train.

    I'm not really going to complain, though - most of the changes Orion made have been pretty awesome. This is the best Champ update I've seen since I started playing three years ago. One "miss" among a bunch of hits isn't too big of a deal.

    Quite frankly, the apparently bugged numbers I posted earlier were quite a surprise to myself and personally I think they were rather overpowered. Taking one of the least reliable corruption removals in the game and turning it into the *best* (near guaranteed to get at least one, likely to get TWO corruptions, on a short CD) would be uncalled for. I'm content with 50/25/25% DW, as it is still a good improvement on the 25/25/25% which was still useful in my opinion despite often being disappointing.

    oh yay, so we go from having a useless removal skill, to a slightly less useless removal skill. can't the numbers just be rearranged? don't particularly care how low the numbers are, as long as one hit can reliably remove something.
