I just think the principle getting missed by some is that a promise was broken and we are expected to not only think that's not a big deal, but that it was a good idea and an act of benevolence and again, not going to lead to anything else. Put another way:

Your husband or wife recites vows on your wedding day. He or she then says years later, maybe after some kids and a house and car mortgage, "Look, I'm going to date this person because he seems lonely, but it is JUST a date! Don't get all upset or weird about it. Nothing physical. MAYBE a goodnight kiss, that's all."

Ummm, okay? Yeah, that's gonna work out fine, right? At the least, your partner stepped out and broke a promise. At worst, the marriage ends. The point being that the best scenario ends up being a situation with broken trust and you will NEVER know if the other shoe is going to drop. In that situation as well, I am sure there are people that are willing to let that happen and some that think it's perfectly fine and okay. I don't think most people would agree. In fact, many people are too invested in the relationship to just walk away. Time and money and emotions spent...good memories...bad ones that seem like good ones because you went through them together.

Do not go on this date, Turbine. We already feel hurt that you'd even bring this up. You already go out late and text strange numbers (selling the stuff you already sell isn't enough? You take away things in the game by changing mechanics and sell it in the store and now you want us to be happy about this, too?). Is it too late for us? Do you just want to see other people?

Really, relic removal scrolls are not required? All of the guys I game with spend the majority of their TP on relic removal scrolls... and these are people that are trying to avoid spending TP. I guess if you have relics galore you could afford to not do relic removals.

How can you say that stat tomes are negligible... now we have the option to get +70 to all stats using Turbine Store tomes... how is that negligible???

I wrote about this on another thread too, the relics removals are not Required they are just here to make a cenvenience to the once that want's to spend TP on them, you can be at home doing push-ups or you can choose to buy the super-duper-pushyupper-mashine from Tv-shop for $, but no one says you have to, even if it is cenvenient.

IRL if this would have been pay to win it would be more like, you could run the olympics as usual or you could choose to buy the totaly legal-to-use-in-runsports-bike

i.e Removal Scrolls Does not make you better than a non-payer, then it is not Pay2Win. Correct?

And I have 3 lvl 75 one 74 and two 65 and a few lower than 65 characters.

I think this Selling Armors in Store is a bad move from Turbine, even I don't like it.
Not that these armors are pay2win or anything but as I also mentioned in another thread it makes me scared... I am afraid that in the future Turbine will start selling Epic armor and loot... Just buy your way through the game... No thanks.

Really? How juvenile. He doesn't pander to popular opinions and says what he thinks on the forums, and doesn't want in-game reprisals from immature people. Also some people believe that if they show off and brag about how many max-level toons they have, that it makes their opinions more important, or that it lends credibility to their posts. It doesn't. I also prefer to not link my characters, to let my posts be evaluated on their own merits.

I do not believe LotR has yet reached "pay2win". Currently it is still only "pay-if-you're-lazy". Phased-out relics are in no way required to be successful in raiding and challenging content, nor are store-only relics.(these relics being the only things that require a relic removal scroll to hold into as you move up a tier in content. Everything else you can easily re-grind.) Relic removal scrolls are most frequently used just to avoid/shorten the relic grind. The store armor will be low-level and thus not competition for end level use(as clarified by devs). Stat tomes are basically irrelevant at max level play. Yes, I said it. Basically irrelevant, not-necessary to win, not going to make the difference in killing that creep 1on1, not going to be the difference in wiping on T2 challenge mode. Why, you ask? When primary stats easily surpass 1000 and can even reach 2000 at max level, depending on your gearing choices and how far you are in the gear-grind, +70 is irrelevant. Due to diminishing returns, it is less than 1% of an increase on your relevant mastery or crit rating for your class, only 210 morale for non-tanks and 350 morale for tanks.(but with non-tanks having at *least* 6k morale already from gear, and tanks having in excess of 10k, even that amount of morale by itself is insignificant.)

The only time that I have seen store purchases be significant is with leveling toons. (+70 to a stat at level 28 is big, but that advantage disappears as the toon approaches max level.) But who cares about speeding up leveling with tomes and store armor? Leveling is already so easy and absurdly fast. I feel sorry for people who buy the armor, because even when the stat tomes fade into insignificance, at least you keep using them forever, unlike the armor which you will outgrow.

Hard to answer, that question is yes, hmm. Perhaps in some way it is, but it is not like one can buy levels(quicker xp gaining can be bought though, such like xp buffers etc.).

I think that TB/WB is trying out different options in order to see the reaction from the community in these years. Perhaps we are a case study.

I do still like the game so no harm done yet, and I do not need to buy all the stuff they sell in the store. The greatest reward for me is when finding items, weapon and armor during quests and traveling(grinding on the way). So the store will not replace that for now(if it did I would stop play as that would be boring and not near as fun).

You can't "win" in this game. You can get to level 75 and have pretty gear and stuff. But, there is no real number 1 spot. Sure you got PvP and rank, but really, who cares? :/

Because +70 to all stats amounts to absolutely jack at level cap.

Why then do people run raid after raid after raid for the new gear that adds 10-20 of a particular stat if 70 adds jack.
Why do people want IDoME use why the group with a Captain as the +75 to all stats amounts to jack.
Also what level in the store starts to make a difference.

How many have I personally seen drop? 4. How many can I attest to others having had dropped, a few dozen.

How many of those that you have seen or that other you know have seen were tier 7. Zero as this was a store exclusive.

Of course people would like relics to be returned, it saves them time from having to get new ones. Again, the changes to how relics are obtained basically made the requirement of having to remove them at reforge pointless. You can get a relic that is the same one you had slotted in maybe 20min of slow work.

There are some relics from the old system that are much better that any you can make in the new system. So if you want to keep these and not reduce the strength of the character then you have to buy the scroll. Also when the new system was released they said getting the tier 6 relics was quicker then the tier 9 they were removing and it was. However they have now added tier 7 and this takes an awful lot longer to get, and is just as long as the tier 9 from before. So there is no way to replace a tier 7 from scratch in 20 mins

Just because your social circle uses them doesn't mean anyone is forcing them to. There are a lot of us who get along just fine without.

This sort of thing is a recurring argument anytime anything is added to the store, actually. "Oh no, they're FORCING US to buy things!" No, no they are not. No one is putting a gun to your head. No one is holding you down in front of the computer and forcing your fingers across the keys. You're a human being of free will, you chose to play this game, and now you're choosing to buy these goods. Just because there's an incentive to do so doesn't make it any less of a choice.

So there's stat tomes that can add up to 70 to a stat? When you can already get +1000, +1200, +1500 or more just from gear alone? So there's some old relics with that little touch extra you desperately want to keep, for every last bit of potential? That still doesn't mean you couldn't operate just as fine without. One shouldn't mistake their own incapability to control their min-maxing thirsts for a company 'forcing' them to do anything. That's no more valid an argument than to say 'oh, McDonald's is FORCING me to eat their food by making it so delicious'.

Cut and dry, if it disgusts you so much, you don't like it that much, then don't buy it.

So...with all the suggestions and pleas for changes, fixes to bugs, updates to significantly out of date content, THIS is what you choose to do? CREATE new armor for the store?

Please...tell us who came up with this idea. It's not "giving players more options" it is completely ignoring the pages and pages of people begging for substantive changes to be made.

Explain how if it's not supposed to be a big deal to us how it was big enough a deal for Turbine to spend that "dollar out of 100 dollars" that Turbine is investing in the game. Is THAT where the money was thought to be put to the best use? For level 20 players? Why not rework those areas of the stinking game! Those are some of the oldest and most painful areas to level through so take that money you "invested" in store items and shove it towards content if the reason for doing it was to give players more options. It's not, though, is it?

If better gear exists in game, then why create it? Are you really implying that there is a line you won't cross - because you just established that you cross lines whenever you feel like it. Drawing a new line...hah.

It's most definitely pay to win. People, very few, have tried to argue: It's low levels, it doesnt matter, yadda yadda. Anyone with half a brain knows this isn't the end of it. Turbine has lied, plain and simple. They are not to be trusted.

So let's take a new toon, hit the store with plastic in hand, buy em' a full compliment of stat tomes through tier 7, throw some of this spiffydoodle armor on. While we are at it, let's just go ahead and take all those virtues to 12 too. May as well pop for that faction horse while were at it. Yeah it belittle's the reward of it for someone who really did the quest's and the deed's, but that's ok, right? You let an extreme powergamer like me do that who has no trouble at all now taking a toon to level 20 and above in a day without any of these things, just wait till the next tiers of armor hit's, more stat tomes, and on and on. Expand this to level cap all the way through with armor and wep's, i wonder how fast a nutball like me can take a toon from 0 to 75. Under the current way of things without all this stuff, doesn't take me very long at all.

But i digress. The term pay2win isn't really the correct term. There is no winning in lotro. You get to cap, and right now, your pretty much done. You haven't won anything, it's just game over. There isn't much left to do. Some will at this point say" Well, it's all about friends and community". What's this community going to be like when down the road having all of this stuff available in the store through cap is the norm?

It's obvious that they intend to put higer tiers armor in the store at a later time if it proves profitable.

Naturally T3 armor and T7 tomes does not matter much now.
But how about T10 armor that rivals raid gear ?
Or T25 tomes for +250 Might ?

Up until recently I would never have imagined they could do such a silly thing, and even said so in another topic.

I'm going to go out on a wild limb here and say DarkCntry doesn't even play the game. If he did, he would know that getting T7 relics are a grind and a half and we would love to be able to unslot relics during reforges like we used to. He is obviously a troll that posts just to get attention.

There is no rational argument to say LOTRO isn't going pay2win when they're adding actual armour to the store, unless you want to argue and get a rise out of people. We should've seen this coming last spring when the best guardian relics were store exclusive.

Ok, mal abgesehen vom freudschen Verschreiber mal aufs Thema:

Ja, es werden neue Level 20-Rüstungen (wenn überhaupt so viel) im Shop angeboten. Eine Tragödie für jeden eingefleischten Elite-Raider.
Natürlich werden jetzt die einen schon wieder den Anfang vom Ende sehen, dass Turbine bald nachzieht und das neue Orthanc-Set aus dem Raid im Shop für 2.000 Punkte pro Teil anbietet.

Ich möchte an der Stelle mal betonen, dass Turbine seit Beginn des Shops diesen mit einem gesunden Menschenverstand geführt hat. Wenn sie ihr Spiel also hätten kaputt machen wollen, hätten sie es längst getan und die neuen Rüstungen im Shop schon vor einem Jahr angeboten.
Es ist, wie ich es damals vermutet habe:

Ich habe nichts dagegen, wenn man Low-Rüstungen im Shop anbietet, von mir aus noch manche alte Rüstungen niedriger Stufen. Es gibt dabei einfach einen Toleranz-Bereich, der bei mir etwas ausgeprägter ist. Für mich wäre die Schmerzgrenze bei der jetzigen Wächter-Rüstung. Alles, was in diesem Bereich liegt, verkrafte ich noch. Mein Protest kommt erst, wenn es diese magische Grenze überschreitet.
Vielleicht solltet ihr euch auch mal eine Linie ziehen und sagen: "Bis hierher und nicht weiter!".
Mich regt nämlich dieser ganze, von der Community gehipte, sinnlose Widerstand gegen nichts und wieder nichts total auf.

I think you are clearly off the mark here.

Said poster spends his time on the forums applauding Turbine for everything and anything. Even when confronted with a Turbine link where it CLEARLY states that we won't ever see armour in the store (not discussing level or its use), the poster refuses to acknowledge that Turbine has a "different" approach of things.

And for people who follow the forums, his/her opinion is clearly biased ALL the time. Is it just coincidence? Stat tomes, super pots, you name it.

Everyone is entitled to hide his/her toons, that's not what the discussion is about. But the fact that said player ALWAYS seems to defend whatever Turbine spoon-feeds him/her could eventually cause extra unnecessary stress for him/her. That's (I believe... correct me if I'm wrong...) the reason of my post above.

And before you ask, the reason I asked if he had max level toons was to make sure he/she realizes what relic removal scrolls are, how useful they are, how "convenient" they are and how much "need" does a player have for them. It's not about bragging about equipment or phat loottz. I couldn't care less... I play to have fun. I log on the weekends to check the AH and run whatever I feel like. I don't even have a kin... What else you have to say to me?

On-topic: Turbine crossed the line. They said we won't ever see armour in the store. It's not even in the line of "convenience not advantage" slogan because those are subjective to each individual. Armour is Armour. If it was mentioned in writing that we won't ever see it in the store and months later it's in the store... I don't know what else to say.

I just want to point out that I do get it...it's a business and they are trying to make money, but it's our money...my money. Don't sit there and pretend that you care or that this is a community. Stop playing these games with us (or i know at least i will stop playing this one of yours!) and just come out and tell us to [expletive] and everything is fair game. Stringing us along is dangerous. I know you have an army of lawyers, but in this society, you can sue over anything...the right judge and jury (or wrong, from your perspective) comes along and you have a class action suit...EULA or not. People trusted you and put their faith in you.

I don't know why I am even wasting my time. Nothing will be done. This will come and go and a new thing will pop up. People will forget about it. Some great announcement will be made and the smoke and mirrors will work. Tuesday is an update. In the news cycle, this is why this development came about when it did and not at the same time or a day later. Voices that speak up will be silenced, either by screaming themselves hoarse or because they've left the room. What a great teaching tool this is for high schoolers to show them why this world we are leaving them stinks so bad. Anything to make a buck, even if it drives you out of business later. On-topic: Turbine crossed the line. They said we won't ever see armour in the store. It's not even in the line of "convenience not advantage" slogan because those are subjective to each individual. Armour is Armour. If it was mentioned in writing that we won't ever see it in the store and months later it's in the store... I don't know what else to say.
