Re: LOTRO 5th anniversary & first players

    yay.

This looks like the closest thing we will get to a veterans reward scheme that other games have.

Things like this are good for keeping people invested in their game.

Its not about being a founder but instead about sticking with a game. (faq says rewards are based on age of account and although that system isnt perfect it is the fairest overall and may encourage older accounts to return to the game).

Although I'm in the geezerest category (w00t!), I think another interesting way would be for them to add up all your /played time, including for characters you've deleted. That would *really* reward the most dedicated people.

And more prizes for people who've spent the most RL money overall... that would mollify the people who think the weight of us lifers is an anvil weighing down LotRO.

WOW! 5 years already. I really didn't feel that long - time flies when having fun I guess

Congrats to us all and (most importantly) Turbine!

One question though... I started playing in 2007 with CodeMasters, and my account with Turbine is from June 2011. I do hope that Turbine has my original starting date...

Sapience says in the Q&A that they do, despite the dates shown in the forum.

    From here

    http://www.lotro.com/gameinfo/1894

I’m a European player who migrated from Codemasters last summer. Will I get anniversary gifts, too?

Yes! We have all the information we need to ensure that even migrated players will receive the appropriate gifts based on their eligible account age and status.

According to the FAQ, you are marked down from the time you started with codemasters.

EU beta, early access too, owning all the pre-order items (the cloak too yes).
I've been a die hard fan of the game the first couple of years (pre-Moria), and I was running the LOTRO Vault website (which is now dead, the Vault network will be shut down in a few days), where I was among other things author of the "Patch Trees" system ( http://lotrovault.ign.com/View.php?c...xpansions.List ).

BTW, you guys may want to pillage this ABC music repository before the Vault gets shut down:
    http://lotrovault.ign.com/View.php?&...ry_select_id=9
Not sure how good they are though, I think many are from before the music system was polyphonic.

I hope that for the players except United States they thought of keeping the date of creation of the account and not the date of migration

Re: LOTRO 5th anniversary & first players

I'm curious... if a Lifetimer were to win the grand prize, would the lifetime subscription be transferrable (to a friend/family/etc)? I am the biggest LOTRO fan of all time, but it'd be a shame for me to take the lifetime away from someone who needs it.

Wasn't in beta but I did start playing during the first month of launch. I was such a noobie then. I remember being defeated several times by a very mean boar that used to hangout near the 'Blackwold's Roost' in Archet. That boar cost me the "wary title" on my first and oldest characters that i am still playing lol.

I had forgotten about that bar. It was really inconvenient there because it blended in with the toolbars.

It will be interesting to see when one joined. Too bad there is no way to see it in your account page.

Oh well... either you get a horse or you don't.

5 years is something to aspire to for most online games, looking back it has been fun, but I honestly prefer to look forward, so much is coming up, and that helps keep the game alive, the constant new items we as players get... I love my Lifetime
